      • Great phone. Typing on it now. Maybe just wait and see if it comes back in stock. Also shows what can be had if you are patient / don't need the phone immediately. Good luck.

      • Banggood also has it but price increased. Just wait and keep checking.

  • What are they like to deal with? I asked a question on one of their ebay listings, no reply.

  • Kind of confused after the comments.. I intend to buy this for my girlfriend, can someone confirm that this works wuth Optus prepaid? Cheers

I like how we have to list "headphone Jack"

      As opposed to "headphone Tom"

    • Lol The world is obsessed with everything Apple does of course, one of the reasons for their success !

It's the last Pixel phone to keep the headphone jack.

During the presentation, Google poked some jabs at Apple for removing it, and they proudly boasted that they still have the jack.

The hypocrisy a year later. They really should have apologized to Apple or at least admitted they got it wrong and Apple got it right, if they're going to drop the jack a year later.

    • I wouldn't think you can say they were wrong and apple were right. If some customers don't like it, it isn't unconditionally right.

      • Very few things in life are unconditionally right.

All it would take is one customer out of 1 million to not like it, and it would not be unconditionally right.

It would mean also that including a headphone jack in Pixel 1 was not unconditionally right.

But you know what? Unconditionally right has no value. There is nothing a politician can do that doesn't piss at least somebody off even if it benefits a ton more people. It's just impossible. There are always compromises. Everything comes at a cost. That's how decisions are made in life. You please as many people as you can and disadvantage as few as you can.

If Google removes the jack, it is an admission that Apple got it right and Google got it wrong. Or else they wouldn't have done so. And in that case, they shouldn't have been cheeky. It's ok to remove the jack. But to do it after being cheeky with their competitor for doing so, makes it hypocrisy. That is something that should be called out.

Ah, you're like that, I won't bother then.

Completely agree - sometimes it's best not to say anything, but once you say something, you have to put your money where your mouth is. This is coming from someone who uses an Android phone with a 3.5mm jack that I never use (so I couldn't care less if it didn't exist anymore).

Would they drop it to make it more water resistant?

I understand it approaching EOL being a concern, other than that though I just can’t seem to understand why the stigma towards the Pixel has remained. Unless I missed a meeting, it still holds up pretty well. I know I’m somewhat considering making the jump (from a half shattered Oppo f1f might I add).

  • I'd steer clear. I have a Pixel, loved it, but the android P update kills the battery. This is a 2 year old handset now.

I'd wait till the non developer preview version of Android P before making final conclusions about battery life performance (though at this stage it's pretty stable)

    • A new pixel won't have the same battery issues as a 2yo pixel though.

4 year old phone and 8.5mm thick… No thank you.

    • 4 year old phone? It came out in October 2016.

        I live in the future.

        • How's that working out for you

  • Appears to be expired fyi, can only seem to get it in cart for $519 AUD after coupon code.

  • They just refunded me my money today. With a very generic e-mail saying it could be a lot of reasons for it being refunded.

  • I ordered one on 2 Aug and was delivered on 6 Aug (in Perth) via DHL Express. I paid the extra for shipping with insurance though - $417 total.

    • I placed on the 6th of August where I got:

Your order with us has been cancelled due to your request, unforeseen shortage of stock, security reasons or insufficient information provided at the time of you placing your order, the amount for this purchase (if cleared by PayPal or charged on your credit card) when you placed the order, will be refunded back to your respective account within 1-2 business days.

      :-(

      • I'd ask them to honour the price on a re-order. Worth a try.
