  • How’s the updates on these Lenovos? Are they good as Samsungs?

Android 14 out of the box with major OS updates until Android 16 and security updates until 2028. Some of the higher end Lenovo tablets get more OS updates.

Amazon is price matching too. Just ordered from there

    • With the case?

      • Shows the case and accessories listed says sleeve included

  • How is this tablet compared to this..
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/910962

    • That is probably better but showing as 360, and no local support/local version

I bought this one and returned it. Tablet's build is solid and it works smooth. Even though it supports english language, however you still see Chinese language in most apps which is odd. That's why I had to return it, other than that it is perfect.

      • -1

        WTF

      • +7

Seems odd, I deleted most of the Chinese apps or disabled them. Got play store and my stuff is in English, haven't had issues so far.

        • +1

Same, don't use any of the original stuff. Takes a while to get working as normal but then it's been great.

        • Open assistant app. Doesn't comes in english. Check settings many apps don't show proper English. I bought the tablet by going to that link only. I'll update the comment with a photo when I get a chance.

@Crustydumpling: The Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025 is the same as the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro but with CN ROM instead of Global ROM.
There are certain parts of the CN ROM that are going to be in Chinese, no matter what and there's always some bloatware, which you can choose to hide/ignore. The assistant app is Chinese. I don't use it or see a need for it in a tablet.
You need to disable/uninstall the Chinese apps, installing Google Play store, and using English native apps instead. A different launcher such as Nova is often suggested.

You can also flash the device to have Global ROM instead too which has Google Play services integrated by default, and much less bloatware.Widevine L1 will still work, but OTA updates need to be disabled (updates can still happen, just less easy). It's definitely no plug and play tablet. You need to be willing to mess around. Some people enjoy doing that, whilst others aren't as technically confident (or it's not worth the time to do all the extra steps).
That's the price for getting a device so much cheaper from overseas (alongside no local warranty).

@jc123: Exactly what I said in the first comment. I bought it with the intention of giving it to my niece(10) and I don't think any kid will like to fiddle with installing ROMs and getting Chinese in the apps.

And I have been installing the ROMs since Xiaomi Note 3(2015) however I don't have time to fiddle with these anymore.

            • +1

@jc123: I got the 2025 model and it runs great. Best to keep it at android 14 for now though if english in every app is a must. Android 15 update moved to XUOS which seemed to have forced my Netflix and a few other apps to show some parts in Chinese even with device language set to english.

For the most part it's still english, UI and everything in english. Just some apps not playing nice and might confuse some people.

If you are unsure how to do it follow a guild or just install Nova <or similar> and bang best tablet english only

Speed? Anyone got this, how responsive? Seems a good price

    • Yeah ok thinking of picking one up with a stylus. Can anyone recommend?

  • +9

Got JB to price match. Just need to add another $26 worth to get $300 and use the $30 perks voucher and 10% off gift cards.

    • Pay online? I thought they give you a link for the item by itself to pay when you price match so how do you add more?

And where is 10% discounted gift cards please?

      • +2

You can go back on chat and ask them to add another item in.

TCN gift cards from woolies with 20x reward points. Pretty much 10% off if you shop at woolies.

        • Thanks mate!

    • Excellent to hear. Was hoping to do that today myself.

    • Just confirming, the perks code could be applied with no issue?

  • This vs Samsung a9+? Anyone have experience with both?

    • Upgrading from a7, as the a7 wasnt enough… Not sure how it does against the a9

    • I don't have experience with the Samsung but will vouch for that one, considering my experience with the Lenovo (which I own).

The Lenovo is great with the sound. Very good there. But the letdown is the screen. They cheaped out there and it shows every time you use it. Brightness can be brighter, viewing angles could be significantly better, it could be brighter etc.

  • I have this tablet. Fantastic for the price. Picking up another for my wife.

  • Officeworks wouldn't price beat as their stock "was different" (it didn't include the cover)

    • Can confirm!

    • +4

Just got one from OW, it came with the cover

      • +2

+1 Officeworks model also had cover - Price Beat @ Belmont WA

    • Just got the last one from OW Malaga, they took a while checking that the colour and model was the same but they did price beat in the end. Stock is the same

    • I just purchased one from Officeworks and it came with a sleeve cover. I’m not sure if the sleeve and folio cover are the same thing.

Can anyone who bought theirs from Harvey Norman confirm whether it comes with a sleeve or a folio cover?

For reference, the serial number on mine is ZADX0134AU, so I think they’re the same model.

    • ended up grabbing one from Amazon using discount gift cards ~ $263 😎

  • Good guys o'connor WA was also selling lenovo tab 7 and 8 at 50% discount. Limitsd stock.

  • I managed to nab this tablet for $150 due to some incorrect pricing. The tablet is great and would be happy to pay the price advertised for it.

Screen is quite vibrant and crisp, performance is good without being outstanding, but the speakers are quite superb. Not quite at the level of a standalone Bluetooth speaker, but you could very easily and happily use it to fill a big room with good quality background audio.

The expandable storage is a real perk and the stand is sturdy as. Battery life is also quite comparable with an iPads.

  • Can anyone recommend a pen to go with this tablet?

  • how heavy is this tablet? it looks kinda chunky at the bottom.

  • +2

Price beaten at newy Officeworks no probs.

Staff was impressed w the deal 😁

  • Price beat at Officeworks Ferntrer Gully no issue

  • 1200p vs my p11 pro 2020 (1600p) interesting

  • Pick up one from OW Carlton , staff was surprised the price and they confirm the product code and serial number on this tablet is the same as HN.

    Price beat with no issue.

Come with a sleep case, was a bit heavier than IPAD a16 when holds on hand.

    • So different case to the HN one?

      • +2

        Same case

    • Upgraded to 17.0.10 now

  • Deal expired?

  • picked up the last one at Port Kennedy online C&C. Staff was surprised at the price and also mentioned that another customer came in looking for the same but had to turn back. Apologies to the OB'r if you are reading this.

  • I researched this and came to the following conclusion:

    Pros
    - good battery life
    - good sound
    - built in kickstand
    - earphone jack

    Cons
    - screen is 400nits so not good for outside use
    - USB C port does not do video out so can't be connected to a monitor
    - USB C port only supports USB 2.1 so not great if you want to use SuperDisplay app.
    - the current model of the Lenovo pen (AP501U) for this has changed from the old one (AP500U) buttons and it currently is no longer possible to press a button to switch to eraser

    • In summary, you describe a great tablet for the price (and is well-reviewed even at full price) given most of the cons won’t trouble the majority of users :)

      • Yep it was a solid bargain if someone just wanted a tablet for media consumption.

I am looking for something for note taking/drawing so I had to pass. Still I was considering picking it up just as a reading device. At about 650g it is a bit heavy but for short bursts of reading in public or reading on my bed at home it would have been fine.

        • It is good tablet, enough for internet, YouTube and media streaming , sd card is a bonus.it has PC mode which is nice feature for me.

Is it possible to use external monitor for PC mode? Try to do some basic OFFICE works without using PC.

I know this has ended… But had to post from the $260 tablet I got from this deal at OW. This thing was an insane bargain. Great speakers, screen and super responsive. Coming from an iPad 5th gen that was about 7-8 years old and it's a huge improvement. I actually feel kinda guilty I ripped the store off at this price. Massive thanks OP 👍

    • +1

Same here, upgraded from 5th gen iPad.

    • +1

      Enjoy

  • I received mine yesterday. Great tablet and an even better price!
While exploring the features, I checked Lenovo Vantage and noticed something odd in the warranty section. It shows my warranty started on 2024-08-02, and there's only 47 days left!?

Is anyone else seeing the same thing with their warranty status? Curious to know what others are getting.

    • keep your receipt.
