Found the site, created account, posted this… Yet couldn't work out how to use Google or ebay? :/

    $2041.55 with PENNY5

Don't go refurb, god knows how it's been treated. Spend the extra or sacrifice on a feature.

I have a gently-used, well-loved, refurbished desktop available, it was only booted up once a week for Fortnite.* As new!

*item may have been spinning 24/7 the last 500 days as a mining rig.

Only used to livestream church every Sunday

Let's hope it was so it has less thermal damage that happens when you heat it up and cool it repeatedly.

        • There's some research saying mining rigs actually might not be too bad as a used system, because 1. they're usually run at stock or even underclocked (for that hashes/kW efficiency), 2. never turned off, and 3. generally have solid components rather than budget ones (because uptime/reliability is important).

Of course, if you run into someone who was a shitty crypto miner and didn't know any of the above….

    • Thanks Bro

    AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 4.2GHz 6-Core 1TB 8GB GTX1080 8GB Gaming Desktop Computer PC $1,519.20 Delivered @ eBay PC Byte

This was one of the best value ones but there have been some sub $1000 i5 8400 / GTX 1060 6gb / 1TB HDD / 120gb SSD ones

If it was me I would grab a 8gb ram Dell optiplex and put in a 1050ti low profile gpu and be some with it

    Something like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/384956 / https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/384380 with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/390339

Can get a very capable machine for $500. Personally I would toss the SSD and just put in more mechanical hard drives. SSD is so overhyped. Once you have your pc running it is pretty useless unless you absolutely need to shave off those extra seconds in like a professional workstation scenario but for barebones gaming let them wait sometimes the loading screen is the most fun part.. like getting ready to jump off the races.

    Savour the moments.

An SSD is the best possible thing you could do for your PC. I don't know hope people tolerate computers without one.

Just saying it is great but honestly I would prefer to get all mechanical and then beef up the cpu or gpu with the extra money.

I use both and honestly cannot tell the difference sometimes but then again time is not a big issue for me I am happy waiting a few minutes for something to get done as I have many things to do on my mind and elsewhere so I just use that extra time to load something on something else.

For a dedicated hardcore gamer or power user - yes a ssd might be good for you

But for everyday usage and especially budget builds - that money can be used elsewhere like upgrading more hdd space or more ram or better cpu/gpu

Just saying a ssd isn't the best use of money on a budget build or even gamer build really it only really benefits the very professional environments or super users or super gamers.

Each scenario will differ but for me mechanical all the way imho.

I used to notice seconds pass by in games but I think I am over that phase now, all I notice is how much my cpu can do and what it is capable of and not much the milliseconds of saved speed here and there.

CPU first GPU second RAM third SSD fourth I say.. it doesnt hurt to get a very tiny ssd maybe for windows load times but honestly the difference isn't really noticeable especially if you keep most programs open and on all the time but even then I couldn't notice the ssd or hdd load times at all on my new pc over the past few days.. it is just throwing money as far as I am concerned whereas cpu and gpu you will see those changes and improvements immediately with better performance and graphic settings opening up.

    • OP? This.

Don't get refurbed - you don't know how the system has been treated and you get basically zero support or warranty.

Get new pre-builts from eBay or a local / physical computer store. I'm always a little wary of buying pre-builts online because of shipping.

  • I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU

  • Don't know where you are, but I suggest you go check with your local computer shop on a custom build. You'll probably find you can buy new for a similar price.

Example, near me are Pacstar. You can get an Intel Core i7 8700, DDR4 2133 RAM 8GB, 240GB SSD + 2TB HDD, GTX 1060 6GB Video Card for $1499.

    • Thank you,I'm live in Melbourne.

      • PCCASEGEAR!

Basically the PCCG Sniper 570 Gaming System system from this page but swap in a GTX1070 for the GTX1060 that's in it right now.

They're located at 46 - 48 Glenvale Crescent, Mulgrave VIC 3170. Benefits of buying local is MUCH MUCH easier warranty support and service if you end up needing it.
