  • Hmmmm, is this good value I wonder. I have 250,000 member rewards points that I have been waiting to transfer to a FF program at some point. I don't have a specific need at this stage to move them anywhere so would I be better holding off.

Depends on your travel plans but I find Krisflyer a really good FF, follow by Etihad and Virgin Atlantic.

      • I 100% agree, by far Singapore Airlines have the best redemption rates and taxes/fuel surcharges.

Even with the bonus you’re better off going 1:1 with krisflyer if there’s availability on the route and time you’re looking to fly.

Isn't it better to transfer to Krisflyer miles from amex? you will get 1:1 rate. However if you transfer from velocity it is not 1:1.

  • 1Amex Point = 1 Velocity usually?

    • My Membership Rewards program is 2 points for 1 Velocity point

Might be time you look at the Platinum Edge for better points redemption.

All my credit cards (including my two Amexes) have no annual fees; no thanks (most of my points come from petrol, parking or the eStore)

        • +1

If you already have heaps of points banked up. You can apply for the edge card and they will upgrade your points to the higher value one.
I upgraded my lower tier points (150k) 4:3 to acent 1:1.

        • Wow, who negged me just because I don't want to pay annual fees? Petty much … For the record, my DJs Amex which normally has an annual fee of $99 (with 3 points per dollar at supermarkets and petrol stations) is free for every year I hold the account (my other Amex is a Velocity Escape)

          not me..
Sorry my message was just FYI. Not telling you what to do.

          @kerfuffle:

I even the score for you so now you’re neutral :)

        • @kerfuffle: how did u get the annual fee waived? I tried many times with the call center and got rejected every time

        • @Phuiie: I don’t think u can ‘upgrade’ the dj amex but possibly can if u have explorer

        • @Flyingberger: Targeted offer from upgrading my old Storecard three years ago

        • Yeah, my upgrade was from Explorer.

  • Still waiting for a CW deal

So is this 1.15 Velocity Points per Amex Point one of the better redemption options? Was there in the recent history similar specials for other airlines? How about the Hotel points?

In short, shall I wait if I anyway want to keep the card for a while?

I've got the Platinum Edge with 1:1 redemption usually.

    Cheers, Marc.

Maybe hold on to your points, the velocity e-store has been down for over a month now and they keep dodging questions on providing a date when it will be back up.
