  • Stand was only included in the Scorpio edition of the console.
Nonetheless it is a good price for a console that is less than a year old at max.

10% off the retail sales price for a 3rd party refurb? Pass.

Might be worth checking what the warranty is too, because the description suggests it's 30 days.

    EDIT: it's 90 days.

      • +4

I clearly stated 'retail sales price', which is about $515.

      • +23

How about instead of chain negging my comments, you click this link and tell me what price this console goes on sale for regularly:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/xbox-one-x

        • +2

3 months warranty is crappy anyway given the std. warranty is 2yrs… that's worth the 10% as it is

        • +1

@tonyjzx: Apparently it may now be 12 months, but the only place that's indicated by EB is in the image on the item description. Not on their website, on any other part of the listing, etc.

I still don't rate it as a good deal when you're talking about a piece of hardware designed to run at high CPU/GPU load with regularity. That needs solid warranty and support.

        • @jasswolf: Yep. @jasswolf is right. It goes on sale pretty regularly. Doubt many have paid the full $649 RRP. This is a pretty below average deal for a refurb. Better off waiting for a (brand new) sale one.

    • -3

12 month guarantee - it’s in large font, highlighted by a red background, top left corner of the item description. Its incredibly hard to miss.

      • +3

I saw the logo, but the logo does not appear on EB's website, nor does their website mention any warranty other than 3 months for repair service.

For all we know, this could be a 12 month guarantee on the refurb labour done by EB.

        https://ebgames.com.au/customer-service

"All consoles include our Preowned Guarantee, which means you’re covered for 3 months against faults!"

Without any further information, or clarification, a single image shouldn't mean shit to me, or to you.

While a warranty is a type of guarantee, a guarantee does not inherently cover repair or service, at least not without shouting the TPA down the line to a customer service manager.

      • -6

If it's being sold as refurbished you have the same rights under ACL as if the console is new.

    • +3

Generally cautious with preowned stuff, but despite what everyone says I've only ever found EB excellent to deal with in every transaction and always get a sealed copy of a game if I really want one (not that I care much - but e.g. if a game I am buying comes with DLC I'll usually ask for sealed just in case someone played fast with the download code).

With this item I think you're fine, 12 month guarantee & the console itself is guaranteed not to be old, you'd be extremely unlucky to get a dud IMO

      • +1

Slapping a 12 month sticker on something without any fine print is dubious, and while it might be able to be legally contested if it proves to be anything other than a repair warranty, that should be something that is actually confirmed before people (though not you) start negging and being condescending.

      • +1

ye had some dodgy stuff with eb games preowned stuff, not xbox one but two other items, one phone and one tablet which were busted in less than a year.

    • +9

How is this guy being downvoted? He's right.

      • +11

Because Sunday morning PC vs Sony vs XBox it seems.

        • +1

          rolls eyes

        • +1

Huh? What has this got to do with PC vs Sony vs XBox?

        • +1

@netsurfer: the console fanboi wars know no boundaries

        • @jasswolf: It doesn't add up though. You are telling people not to buy XB1X refurbished at this price. If I were a PS4 or PC fanboy, I would +ve vote you.

        • +1

@netsurfer: Perhaps it’s that dirty Xbox mob down voting him.

Disclaimer: I’m a dirty Xbox fan

Double Disclaimer: I didn’t downvote anyone.

        • @netsurfer: I may have been joking.

      • He may be, but this isn’t a life or death purchase. It’s a used console that comes with all the usual caveats, just like the current Wii U deal. If you don’t want a preowned console, then move along. The difference here is the One X is less than a year old, and is a pretty reliable console.

        • +3

That makes it sound like I'm shouting in the street about it…

I'm posting clear and methodical information that allows people to understand their rights and ask concise and fair questions of the seller. Doing so means they keep correct (and public) records of their offers so that any one who purchases this doesn't have to be dropped into an argument with customer service should something go wrong.

        • +4

Geez, give it a break. The man was expressing an opinion. We should be encouraged to share our individual thought. I'd hate going onto a site to read opinions from a herd mentality.

        • @JuliusSeizure:

I wasn't having a go at him, just posting my opinion as well.

        • +1

@jasswolf: You're kinda spamming lol idk why you seem so agitated

        • +4

@Jetship: my initial comments were immediately negged multiple times, which is not a great sign, so of course I'm going to post with more info as a follow-up.

        • @jasswolf: While I agree this is most likely not a bargain for people wanting an XB1X, I am not sure it deserves a negative vote. P.S. I did not neg vote your comment. Neg voting comments isn't my thing to be honest.

Regarding your initial comment getting negative voted at the beginning, there could be other legit reasons such as:

          • EB Games appear to offer 12 months warranty. So your initial comment of 30 or 90 days was incorrect. I understand you were looking at it using a mobile device, but it could misled people. When I clicked on the link from my PC, the 12 months warranty is quite visible.
          • It isn't easy to offer high % discount on top of best deal price for an XB1X at the moment. This is also due to the maths involved (due to the high price of XB1X). $48 cheaper in this case is below 10%. So, to offer 20% discount is asking for $102.
        • +1

@netsurfer: Another commenter has clarified that it's an extension of their previously 3-month repair guarantee, but they've failed to update their site, nor offer that information anywhere other than a header image.

Fact of the matter is the difference between this and the sales price for the retail purchase (offered every other month) is MS phone support, certification and another year of warranty, which at $50 saving makes it a poor offering from EB.

        • @interfreak: Your comment focuses on the commenter, not the deal.

    • If it's refurbished you have full ACL rights exactly the same as new.

I'm assuming this is being sold as second hand though.

      • +2

Though refurbished in that instance refers to something checked and restored by the manufacturer or someone authorised by the manufacturer, yes?

I think this would effectively be second hand goods, just with a more robust set of promises than that of someone from Gumtree. The real problem is that the only place 12 months is mentioned is on the image at the top of the description, which isn't even visible on the mobile version of the site.

Brand new xbox one x comes with 3 years Microsoft warranty

    • I've tried Googling, can't seem to find anything specific besides the "express warranty" which is 12 months. However, Microsoft website isn't specific as to the One X, just the Xbox One in general.

Do you perhaps have a link for me? Would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I found The Good Guys listing it as 2 year warranty on their website product listing.

    • Warranty is worthless because of ACL.

      • +1

Maybe so but its much simpler resolving under a regular warranty rather than ACL arbitration or whatever.

    • That's with the purchase of a Microsoft Complete extended warranty.

  • +1

12 months warranty on all pre owned stuff. Website hasn’t been updated in a while.

EB will always replace anything that is faulty as long as not user error ie smashed screen on a 3ds.

I have had ro replace a couple things over the years and have never had any issues.

  • Is refurb = preowned from EB games ?

  • +1

I’ve always wondered why consoles end up as pre-owned in EB. I mean, yeah I get that someone traded it in or whatever, or sold it to EB, but why? Would someone trade in an XB1X this soon after launch, and for what? EB buy prices aren’t competitive at all, it would make much more sense to sell on GT etc. I dunno, nothing profound in my musings, I guess it just seems weird that such a new console would already be available pre-owned.

      • a used 2nd hand console

When would a second hand console be anything other than used?

        • I bought a console off a mate of mine who got it for free with his 65" TV in a HN deal.

I got a new 2nd hand console. He didnt even open the box.

    • +1

I'm wondering whether EB might purchase refurbished consoles "wholesale" from Microsoft and then on-sell them?

    • +1

Its the same reason some people trade in cars for well under what they could get for them on private market. The trade is easy and quick and doesn't involve strangers coming to your house, timewasters etc.

    • +2

      Unwanted gift.

      Infrequent use.

      Stolen goods.

      Upgraded to a PS4 :-DDDD

  • Brand New Xbox X has gone quite a few times already for $500-510.
EB advertises them for '$579 prewoned' ? Joke !!
and we consider a used one for $30 less, not even 10% of NEW price for a used console…

We turning from oZBargain to Lol-Bargain

  • So did anyone buy one?

    • +1

I bought one.. I called the customer service and they confirm that is in fact a 12 months warranty, I bit worried about the controller conditions.. Let's see when it arrives..

  • Understand the angst about this being EB pre-owned and people are apprehensive about the warranty but just wanted to extend some appreciation to the OP for posting this as it helps track the one x's price history on ozbargain for those so inclined.

  • The console is useless since there is now Halo Online which is Halo 3 with dual welding on pc for free , The consoles are fine, there just from people like me that buy a Xbox one X when they already have a 400 game steam collection on steam + that Halo online "download should be on reddit"
