This card is awesome! I use the 10% off every month to top up 3 Opal cards (no reward points).

    • That's sweet as!

    • +1

Where do you go to Top it up in the Woolies?

      Front desk?

      • I believe you can do at any of the manned (ie human operated) checkouts at some Woolies, but front desk at all. Just look for the Opal reader :D

    • -1

Won't work next time now that they know about it.

  • -4

It’s 10% off Woolworths only lol doesn’t work for opal

    • +2

you can recharge opal at woolies…

      • +1

Does 10% off applied to Opal recharge?

        T&C says standard stuff:
This offer excludes purchases of liquor, smoking/tobacco products, newspapers, any vouchers, Woolworths Services, delivery charges and Delivery Saver items, gift cards, egift cards, mobile recharge, travel cards a gift cards, egift cards, mobile recharge, travel cards a available in Tasmania. Woolworths reserves the right to cancel or amend this offer at any time without notice.

        • +1

well considering those terms don't specify opal or even NSW travel cards and someone else has said they have been doing it for a year I would say so, yes

        • -2

I've purchased EB games gift cards with this and gotten 10% off

      • Not all Woolies though.

    • +4

Been doing this for over a year at multiple Woolies.
Super savings that no-one seems to mention

  • +2

Doesn't say offer not valid for someone who previously held the card.
Or this means even you have closed it long time ago you won't be eligible again?

    • This ^

  • Can you drop out end of the year?

    • Depending how much you spend, the savings alone can cover the annual fee after a couple of months. I'm on my 2nd year and like the savings.

  • When are the rewards points credited?

    • After your first shop at Woolies

      • I still havent got mine 9 weeks later and ive shopped at wollies several times and even called the help line

        • maybe you havent hit the minimum. ask them.

  • +4

Be careful before you apply, rejecting applications is very common with this mob based on last offer

    • Oh really?
      That sucks :(

  • And I only just got this card 2 weeks ago :( Should have waited for an offer

  • +13

I've had this for maybe 3 years now. Once you get past the first year of free membership and they charge you the $49, just ring them up to cancel because of the fee. They'll offer to credit half the annual fee back, but keep insisting that's still too much. They'll then credit the entire fee back. I've done this for 2 years now (latest just 2 weeks ago).

    • got this card 2 years ago, when I call to cancel, they dont care at all and cancel in 5 mins.

Also this card have $10k/$15k min credit limit which it is too high and not that rewarding comparing to Waspac 120K FF points

  • Seems like a great deal, but already too many credit cards to keep track of. Still a few weeks to consider..
How many credit cards do every one have???

  • Can someone confirm that you get 3 woolworths reward cards points for every $1 spent?

    • +1

You get 3 credit card reward points per $1 spent at Woolworths.

    • You get 3 credit card reward points per $1 spent at Woolworths.
      Edit: see comment below.

Can’t find anything about 20000 points.

  • Took up a similar offer because of 14 months interest free balance transfer.

Anyway even though I was "approved" instantly the application process took many weeks, lots of phone calls, uploads of proof of income, copies of tax returns for several years (though they later withdrew this request) phone calls and emails to my employer, lots of changes of what they wanted as proof, was told a different story every time about how long was left to go, what was still required, which department it was with.

Through all of this they wouldn't give me any idea of my credit limit until the card had actually been sent out (thankfully it was a decent limit in the end).

I got there in the end but it was VERY frustrating and customer service were TERRIBLE.

At least now I just have a large BT sitting with them and I'm hoping I don't ever have to deal with their service department ever again.

Just checked - I applied in April and finally had my card activated in June.

    • Wow, that's interesting. Especially considering that they reject so many applicants, and then it looks like everyone they don't reject has to give them tons of info.

What was the credit limit? More than $10000?

      • Just over $20k.

  • This card used to be great before Macquarie took over..

  • +2

Reading the fine print on the deal is interesting.

So you only get 3 rewards points per $1 where the product is a woolworths select product. You get less than that if it's something else you've bought at Woolies.

You also earn 1 point per $1 but the list of exclusions (i.e where you'd earn 0 points) is pretty large as well.

You need to do the shop across saturday/sunday in the first week of the month (or through woolies online, which also has a different set of restrictions..)

You also only get your card points converted over to woolies reward points every 4 months (not straight away!) and that's assuming you have earned enough points for a $20 credit (e.g. 4000 points).

So all up I'd say if it was an easy application process it's worth the $100 in points but it's a lot of rules to keep track of to make best use of the savings.. and it's a lot simpler to buy discount WISH gift cards at 5% off which you can use on all products..

    • i would prefer using egift card 5 off then this card expect 10% once per month

  • Guys I have the card - where do I check the 20,000 reward points balance ?

  • Is this card compatible with ApplyPay? Thanks.

    • -2

not sure about that but i am sure you can use this card to buy apple at woolies

  • I have had this card for about 18 months now. Here are my thoughts:

    1st year:

    Annual fee = $0
Welcome offer = $100 woolworths voucher (similar to 20,000 points)
    10% off 1 monthly shop = $144 / year ($12 per month as we spend about $120 a week)
Points back as gift cards = $75 first year (I have since moved most of my spend to Amex because of 1 to 1 point conversion)

    Total profit for 1st year ~ $325.

Even with a $49 yearly fee, with no other spend on the card except for the 10% monthly spend, I save about $100 on groceries a year!

    • Great savings totally agree. This is the Ozbargainer coming out of me but can you cancel it and then reapply to this deal?

  • I note that the 10% off only works on the specified dates which seem to be notified to you? How does this work in practice - is it always the first weekend of the month?

    • i would like to know this also, can someone please advise.

  • hey all, i just called them to confirm the T&C they said once you get approved you will know the "real" term and condition. the agent said, some people might need to spend $3000 in 3 months time to be eligible for 20k bonus points. just beware.

    • If it works like their previous offers you only had to make an eligible purchase no minimum spend.

In other thoughts does anyone know if this includes the 0% balance transfer for 14 months? It's not listed on the offer page but also if you just go to their normal page, the platinum card doesn't offer the 20,000 bonus points but does mention the balance transfer

      • click "Apply Now" and the Balance Transfer option is there at Stage 4 of the application.

Does anyone know if you can pay your monthly credit card bill off at a Woolworths supermarket and if so can you use e gift cards?

  • Does anyone know what the minimum credit limit is for this

    • Platinum cards usually $6,000 minimum

  • +1

    Offer extended to 7 October.

  • Question: is it better value to get Qantas FF points or Woolworths Dollars? I collect both but not sure on how to do the value comparison?!?

  • -1

hi im really interested in this credit card. just want to know with opal recharges can the woolworths operator do multiple opal recharges, eg. 3 x $100 in one transaction?

Also when is the usual 10% weekend and when do you receive the email?

Also if we do this multiple opal, i guess we can bring some groceries to be in the one transaction will work right, but downside is we cant put into one transaction the groceries that require weighing?

    • -1

Can't help you with the multiple opal never heard of it.

The 10% off is on the 1st Shop Each Month, says it in the title :)

      • Mine is offered mid month. Maybe it's to do with your statement date.
