My son has one and nothing

Then again, it’s hard to smell much in the room if a teenage boy

      • Good to hear, going to buy one now

    • Smell goes away within a few days

    • This is a proper spring mattress. There was no chemical smell. Only gasped as I saw it unfold and inflate, was amazing. I couldn't believe it fit in that box. I fit the box in a Kia cerato with 2 people. Folded the back seats down, put it in the middle no issues. Replaced a $700 cozybed foam mattress. As long as zzzartlier are around I will recommend to anyone and maybe buy next year/year after just because I can. Doubt I will need to, it's best mattress Ive had.

    • Mattresses, and many other soft furnitures, can contain formaldehyde (carcinogen), antimony (carcinogen), boric acid (respiratory irritant), and flame retardants (some are endocrine disrupting, carcinogenic and/or neurotoxic).

Does anyone know where these are made and what chemicals they are treated with?

      • Where can you actually buy mattresses without any of these?

  • Thanks OP. Was looking for a KING size mattress for a while.

  • Anyone know what will be the best method to deliver the mattress if I won't be at home during weekdays?
Deliver it to work place is not ideal, and not sure if post office can keep this big size item

    • Deliver to one of your neighbours?

      • I live in apartment, and the building doesn't have a concierge.
Scratching my head how to get it, don't think it will fit inside sedan even if I fold down the rear seat

        • Might have to go the less than ideal option and deliver to your work! Just make sure you have a car available to take it home in

        • @Tr0jan:
I have a car, it's sedan and the rear seat can be folded but not sure the mattress will fit

        • I fit it in a Kia cerato hatch. You wouldn't believe it's a mattress until you unpack and let the air in. After that Walk away briskly whilst it explodes and destroys your unit.. basically allow plenty of space whilst it rapidly expands.

        • @Cheapsize:
What mattress size did you buy? Queen?

        • Depending on the delivery company they might deliver Saturdays too. Maybe you can organize a one off deal with the seller. Pay extra to deliver sat morning. I know Toll delivers sat.

  • What's the deal with the bed slats not being more than 6cm apart or it voids your warranty? Our bed frame slats are 7.5cm apart?

    • +1

bed slats not being more than 6cm apart or it voids your warranty

      Woa, first time heard it.

      • Yeah, this is me unfortunately, not sure if I can pull the trigger. Anyone around to comment who has used on a woder than 7cm gap in the slats bed?

    • The springs are quite small, if the slats are too far apart entire springs wont be supported and you can get a sunken mattress.
Though its not stated, beds with curved slats (the bamboo ones) are also discouraged for inner spring, same issue.

    • Masonite or MDF board from bunnings over the slats would be a pretty cheap fix i guess.

    • +1

      That's not the whole story.

What they actually say is this:

For slatted bed frames, if width of slats is less than 6cm, width of gaps between slats should not exceed 6cm. If width of slats is more than 6cm, width of gaps between slats can be more than 6cm but must be equal or less than the width of slats.

  • +1

I bought one of their king mattresses and if I needed to buy another I would not hesitate to buy this bed again. So comfortable and we are both happy with the bed.

  • wayy too soft threw mine out

    • +1

I also found it too soft, and when I got some back pain I couldn't get it to go away. Bought a firmer mattress and boom. While it was only $300 I don't want to junk it.

While 6.5/10 could be called firm, that kind of number is really a medium. The mattress I'm on now is probably an 8.5/10

When I got mine it came with a free pocket spring pillow, and you can take that from my cold dead hands because it is awesome

      • Which mattress did you end up getting? I also have back pain issues and unsure about the Black Label firmness rating of 6.5 (though the fact that it receives such good reviews it's making me consider it)

      • +1

They also do a Super Firm mattress rated at 9/10 firmness if that's what you're after - Queen Super Firm

Looks to be cheaper as well. No experience with it though so I can't provide any more detail

        • Most people seem to say the Black Label (though 6.5) is quite firm still, and the Red label is a bit softer? I ordered a Red label because I didn't want anything too firm… now I'm not sure I ordered the right one!

        • @webbiegareth:Black label is definitely on the firm side, at least it feels it to me. I wouldn't want it any firmer, put it that way! I reckon you'll be good with the red

    • +1

      threw mine out

For real though? Like curbside? No donating it to charity or upgrading a friend's older/lesser mattress?

  • QUEEN available here and its 6kg lighter and several dollars more

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/QUEEN-Mattress-5-Zone-Pocket-Spr…

remember cash back 1% at CR

    • That's the softer "red" model. Hmm, no it's not.. I can't find the 48kg queen now, maybe it's sold out. I'm assuming it was old stock and a slightly better built model due to the extra weight.

  • The link takes me to eBay where the price is $295 for the queen. It seems like it doesn't reduce before I have to commit to buy. I can't see anywhere I can put the code in before that. Anyone?

    • You need to go to the next page to put the code in. Don't worry, you will be prompted for payment details and address first, and the option to put the code is at the bottom of that page. You can't accidentally purchase it at full price unless you fill out all your details and purposely don't include the code!

  • I really want a new mattress but I'm not going to hit commit to buy when I can't see where to put in the code

    • At the bottom of the screen where you enter your address, payment details etc is a field to put in the coupon code.

  • I bought the Ecosa a couple of months back. Anyone have any first hand accounts of the Ecosa vs this mattress? I can still return my Ecosa and save $500 but only if they are comparable. Thanks.

    • +1

I can't vouch for Ecosa but I had a Sommuto which I didn't mind at all. This is next level IMO. Very happy with my purchase. I got a King though not a queen

      • Hmm interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I’m very curious now. Hope someone has the Ecosa and can provide some comparisons.

  • +2

Bought a King sized black label in WA. Yes they negotiate a price for the postage if you send them a PM through ebay. Not sure if codes still work on the once off they send you I didnt do that. As others have mentioned the edges arnt as supportive as they could be but they are still good. You have to let it decompress for a good 24 - 48 hours if you get one with the topper (we jumped on it after only 8 hours and that first night sleep had me worried - hadnt let it decompress enough)

With a topper it can be a bit warm if your used to a cooler bed and I have yet to go through summer with it. I found if you get an illness with a temperature your best not sleeping on it as it doesnt seem to let the additional heat out like other beds I have slept on. FOr the money tho its Awesome value. I was seriously considering a Sleeping duck before this but at 1/3 the price its about 80% of the value I expected from a Sleeping duck.

The other criticism I would make is that when moving it about or trying to make the bed the bottom edge isnt as firm when you lift it (Kings quite heavy)- not being linked springs it can be a bit weird as individual springs compress when you lift it making is more difficult to make the bed. Would be better if there was some kind of stronger linked reinforcing around the bottom edge of the mattress to improve this part of the experience.

Pretty sure no free return if you get them to post - but for $350 (about what I paid) its ridiculously good value for a King.

    • +1

I believe the soft edges are due to having to fit into a box.

  • Does anyone know if queen mattress will it fit into sedan with fold down rear seats which connects to the luggage space?

    • Yes it shouldn't be an issue. The packaging is quite impressive - the mattress is compressed, rolled then vacuum sealed. This means the box ends up being only slightly longer than the width of the mattress. According to a previous poster, the company advised that "The dimension for the box for queen size mattress is 32cm x 32cm x 158cm"

      • Thanks for the info.
I'm going to send them an email to find out if I can pick up the mattress from their warehouse on weekend.

  • People with back issues should consider this
    X FIRM

    • Have you tried it? If so, what do you think?

      • +1

We have. My wife likes it and so far she has more good sleep nights compare to our previous bed (a medium firm).

        No regrets so far

        • +1

How firm are we talking here? Like sleeping on a yoga mat firm?

        • @serpserpserp:

i can't compare since i don't have yoga mat at home. it still have a bit soft top, but not much.

    • +4

I just received it…..its like a magic show unwrapped itself to a bed from a….lookalike carpet roll.

I can confirm its firm lol

      • Did you get the Black Label or extra Firm? How firm is it if you have to rate between 1-10?

  • Postage to Brisbane metro is shown as free however QLD South East is excluded under postage details. Can someone please clarify before I place an order? Thanks

    • Just put your postcode into the Postage & handling section to see if yours is free. Gold coast is still free, Beaudesert is still free, Boonah and beyond is classed as South-East and not included.

      • Varsity lakes - $22

They sent me a message next day saying postage was extra and then they sent me a PayPal invoice

  • Can I ask the delivery guy to take away the old Mattress?

    • Don't think so. Mine was delivered by a commercial courier. They just ring the bell, ask you to sign and drive away

    • You can ask

    • No. That usually costs money when you buy a bed.

  • +1

    Wow! They are heavy.

    Size & Weight
    183cm x 203cm 52.0kg (King)
    153cm x 203cm 42.0kg (Queen)
    138cm x 188cm 39.0kg (Double)
    107cm x 203cm 32.0kg (King Single)
    92cm x 188cm 28.0kg (Single)

    • That's the red, not the black.

      • Hmm I'm mistaken, I thought there was a 48kg queen model I'm the black.

  • Does anyone who has this mattress flip yours? If not, do the top side coils sink in after years of use?

No flip technology, designed to eliminate the need to flip your mattress.

    • +2

Don't flip it if it is not designed to do so. Rotate it every 3 - 6 months is important though.

    • +1

No flip technology probably just means the foam layer is only on one side so glipping it means you will be lying straight on the springs.

  • +1

Great deal, purchased 3 x mattresses. Thanks OP. Its time I showed some love to my back and my kids backs and at a reasonable price too i reckon. Hope the mattress is firm enough for me ! Thanks for sharing the deal !

  • Bought two because of the +votes.
Have them delivered in six weeks rather than now.

    • Hey!

How did you organise delivery for 6 weeks from now? Thanks.

  • Hey ya anyone around 100kg slept on the black label? I think its time to retire my sinking Ikea mattress latex - spent $700 on that.

I'm deciding between the black label and extra firm and can't decide. I'm heavy at 100kg and have grown up sleeping on harder mattresses but I'm fine with medium firm if it doesn't sink/indent… (usually after 6/12 months?). Because of this I've been having a sore aching back =/

Anyone has some experience to share?

    • +2

Its better to go for the firmer one. I am using black level one since 6 months. Its not fell medium firm. Its like medium and soft. So, if i have to buy again, definately go for firmer one.

      • thanks for your input, have you noticed any sagging/indentation/sinking so far?

        • +1

I checked today and can feel some sink where I usually sleep. I am 6.2 ft tall and 85 kg. For me its definately softer medium. Hope it will help you

      • +1

Whereas conversely I find it very much on the firm side of medium. I weigh 80KG though so can't comment on longevity of heavier weights I'm afraid

        • Thanks! at 80kg have you noticed any sinking so far? and how long have you had it if you don't mind me asking.

It's so difficult to make a decision on a bed online haha.

        • +1

@lawyerz: None so far in the 4 months we've had it, but it's in the spare room so doesn't get slept on every night. Probably 3 to 4 nights a week. So not a huge amount of usage yet, but no sinking so far.

  • Purchased a queen. Will let it sit for 7 days before use.

  • +2

I ordered it 2 days ago and this morning it arrived. Had doubts about firmness. It's pleasantly firm. Loving it.

  • I ordered two days ago and just received an email asking for $39 excess shipping. I would make sure you read the "Shipping T&C" as they put it. I did check the "Postage and handling" section of the listing. I also input my postcode which came back as free shipping. I am also not in their excluded zones*. We are on the NSW mid north coast and I am annoyed not only did they take two days to inform me, this is not mentioned on the "Postage and handling" section. We also ordered a second mattress last night so I assume I will receive another email.

*"Excludes: QLD South East, Northern Territory, QLD Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, WA Regional, SA Regional, Tasmania, WA Remote, PO Box"

    • Does your postcode fall into the list of not covered?

  • Just in time, thanks for all the feedback it helped with the decision.
Ordered KS. now on the hunt for a bed frame with some storage underneath.

    • Gumtree

  • Does anyone remember the recommended bases by the same company being $199 the other night? Seems they are $299 for the king before the discount.

I thought these guys don't price jack?

  • +2

hmm has anyone had any issues with the code? I get the error 'This code can't be applied to your order.'

    • Also having the same issue with the code when trying to purchase a red label single.

    • +1

Seems to only happen on my primary account. And I get it on all discount codes. Works fine on another account.

I suspect it has something to do with having changed my account registration to US address previously and back to AUS address again.
I still seem to be able to use US discount codes, but not Australian ones.

      • This must be it as I had just changed back to Aus yesterday

  • A friend of mine has the queen size and has been extremely happy with it.

  • I'm confused. What is the difference between these two queens;

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Queen-Double-King-Single-Mattres…

    (choose queen option)

    and this;

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141824322935

Other than the price ($295 vs. $309), availability (currently 2 vs 10+) and a couple of words in the description. Are they the same mattress?

Same deal with singles. The single in the first link (this deal) is $165 vs $199 here:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141870628670

    • just price

  • Anyone tried the red? The design is more aesthetically pleasing. Anyone have preference between the red or black comfort wise, the specs seem similar with only 0.5 firmness difference and 2cm height difference? Going to pull the trigger on a queen of one of them tonight.

  • +2

    thanks Op
got the queen black label and the queen extra firm.
will report back once they've been delivered and Ive tested how they are.

  • +1

Got a single, very good for the price.

  • 08-08-2018 - Ordered 3 x king single mattresses
12-08-2018 - Email received, strangely on a Sunday, saying they've shipped items (with a tracking number via courier Hunter Express)
14-08-2018 - Items turned up today (Brisbane, QLD) and left at front gate by courier, unattended.

I have had previous bad experiences with Hunter Express, so I was not expecting anything else. Their tracking system and customer service is useless.

Since the order was placed on 08-08-2018 up until today, their system did nothing but say "10/08/2018 21:45:45 On-Forwarded" , whatever that means.

As per the email, they were supposed to ring prior to organizing delivery. Terrible reviews online for the courier. I hope everyone else who's having these delivered through Hunter Express get theirs without incident.

As for the mattresses, I will come back here with a review sometime in the next few weeks.

Thanks for posting the deal OP. cheers

Hope they don't dump it in the gutter.

          Fast delivery but…

  • +5

Mine (56kg King) was learning against my screen door when I got home….Luckily I wasn't inside the house or I would been trapped.

No Sig needed, sent to gold coast via Aus Post

    • The midget King!

    • Hey hang on…

      183cm x 203cm 52.0kg (King)
      153cm x 203cm 42.0kg (Queen)
      138cm x 188cm 39.0kg (Double)
      107cm x 203cm 32.0kg (King Single)
      92cm x 188cm 28.0kg (Single)

  • My King just arrived. Delivered by Hunter Express, rang doorbell, and requested signature. No issues from my perspective, though what they'd have done if I wasn't home I'm not sure
