i had this phone almost 5 years ago. was great then, but to anyone who is expecting to use a "smartphone", you'll be terribly frustrated - poor web browser, poor functionality by today's standards, difficult to view attachments to emails. but i guess you'd be expecting to be frustrated, having paid less than $150…

  • So how old is this model? Is it 5 years old or did the model run for a couple years? Sorry not too familiar with blackberrys as yet…

i had mine in 2006/early 2007 - so it's at least that old! no 3g, low res screen, very slow to run, trackball plays up - as i said, it was great back then (revolutionary compared to the old blackberry models) but really crap by today's standards. if you want a pearl, get the new 9100 model!

  • You need to pay extra for a Blackberry plan ($10-60/mth) to make use of the email/calendar/contacts/web functionality, otherwise it's just an expensive phone.

The model is 3yrs old, not 5 - ACHW you would have gotten the earlier 8100 model.

It is 2g, rather slow, the short qwerty keyboard is difficult to use.
Out of the 2000 blackberry customers i look after less then 10 ever had this device.

I personally wouldn't pay more then $50 for this device.
