    • What bugs?

There is a long discussion on Whirlpool. From what I have seen when skimming through, people are having all kinds of issues with wifi, audio, apps and more.
Seems like a mixed bag of issues that do not happen to everyone, but it looks like the general consensus is to not do the update until things are sorted.

      • Surround over s/pdif is a pain. Need to change settings between using Kodi and Netflix.

        • What issues are you having?

        • @ash2000:
Kodi needs surround forced on to work, and Netflix surround does not work over spdif.

        • @manic:

Ok thanks, I haven't had any issues with Kodi with spdif, but I'm yet to try Netflix. Stan works fine with spdif.

    • Oreo has improved my box, no longer gets netflix audio lag.
It is a much better interface also.

    • I haven't noticed any issue since update to Oreo.

      • What extra features do you see?

        • tbh, when I plug it in the first time I went to the settings and updated, so not sure what features are new.

    • I just checked mine all updated and no issues. Hdmi Cec works better now too

    • yeh

  • what power adaptor do they use?

    • Barrel adaptor.

      • cheers, any ideas what the voltage/amps are?

        • 4mm, around 5v 2a

        • @manic: cheers.

  • Anyone able to get Stan working on this device with Oreo?

    • Yes. No Problems.

  • What does it mean that the specs say no support for 5.1 but product details say supports DTS and Dolby Digital Plus ? ie Can it play surround sound - and if so how do you get it to do so (mention of SPDIF in a previous comment)?

    • It can output 5.1 Dolby dts etc via hdmi or optical

      • Interesting. So does that mean this statement in the specs is wrong ? "Support 5.1 Surround Sound Output: No"

        • That statement is wrong.

You can. Dolby Surround/DTS via HDMI to the receiver, or a 3.5mm Toslink to the receiver.

  • I have been running Oreo for a while with zero issues until recently and now Netflix won't start and throws an error.

I get the same error on a Mecool M8S Pro+ box as well and looking on the freaktab forums it looks like Netflix have made some changes to try and prevent the cheap Chinese boxes from running.

Had anybody experienced this on the Mi box 3 and know of a fix? Not being able to play Netflix via this makes it somewhat redundant.

  • For the price, there is no better android box, nvidia shield starts from $249 in Aus.
I picked one up for my bedroom. Cracker deal

For those with eBay Plus , it's cheaper to buy it from this Australian seller with the "PENNY5" code for $71.25.

  • Oreo bug for me is that I need to unplug/plug the box everyday. Once the device goes into sleep mode there's no way to wake it.
