        Furniture store under HN

        • Cheers, honestly never heard of it before.

  • Better than G75?

  • +7

The ebay $200 memories just came back to haunt me. Much hurt (both my phones were cancelled).

    • +1

Still can't believe I managed to snag it!

      • Same! I ended up just giving it to my Father in Law who has no idea how prized those things were! Haha

  • I have the g84,is it worth the upgrade?

    • +2

I believe so. I have both and as much as I liked it, the G84 has been relegated to a back up phone.

The Neo is just nicer to use. It's faster, the screen is brighter, wireless charging etc. And the 5 years of security updates & 5 major OS updates means I will keep it for longer than previous phones.

Here is a link to the specs of both side by side, https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=13224&idPhone…

    • Only YOU know the answer…minor improvement?
      a.Visit JB-Hifi & play with both phones.

Moving forward, I wonder how many people will keep their phone beyond 3 yrs, as MAIN-phone 😇

  • Edge 50 neo had a better camera (although can be slow. Wireless charging. Slightly smaller screen/more compact.
No sd card slot and no 3.5mm headphones jack.
The Edge 50 Neo has received 3 or 4 updates since I got mine.
I replaced my S20 FE 5G with the Neo and find it to be a better phone overall.

    • Replaced the S20 Fe 5G with the Neo as well. The Neo is so much nicer however the camera is so much worse than the S20 FE which is a bit sad. Tried google cams but found a negligible improvement

    • Motorola's Camera seems below-expectation: are there any AU-compliance phone on offer that's NON-flagship price & acceptable?

  • I got this phone on the $200 deal and I love it. Much better than the Pixel and Galaxy phones I used previously.

  • +1

Worth switching from pixel 8a to this?

    • +1

      I'd doubt it

    • I have just bought this (waiting delivery) coming from a pixel 8a with a cracked screen. I think it will be a slight downgrade in performance but it is cheaper than what I have been quoted for a screen replacement. Have seen comments about Motos having weak screens so will be factoring in an upgraded case.

  • +2

I concur this isn't a too bad of a phone especially for a cheap price. It's a good backup or 2nd secret phone for contacting your side piece bitches so your girlfriend doesn't find out

    • +3

Thanks bought 3 for safety reasons

    • Username checks out.

That's how I contact your mother. On my moto

Got this at xmas. The only issue I have is it doesn’t like the Westpac banking app.
For some reason it takes 20 seconds+ to log in.
Other android/ios devices don’t behave like this, but i haven’t worked out what is doing it.

    • +2

Could be telemetry related if that's a bit slow on this phone.
My only thought is that most of the big 4 banking apps have a whole bunch of shit running on boot to check it's really you.

      • +1

Yeah, it feels like it is something in the bundle timing out before the rest of a framework loads, but strange it doesn't happen on other Android devices.
But the moto version of Android has some weird stuff like non-standard fonts, so it might be some unusual component.

    • Westpac app works fine on mine.

      • Thanks, I'll try trouble shooting again. Do you use fingerprint unlock?

        • +1

Not using fingerprint. Using login and password.

    • +1

It's a known issue and the Westpac app fingerprint unlock doesn't work on the Neo.

    • +2

The Westpac banking app has been so laggy with the Neo. My previous phone, the S20 FE had no problem with Westpac. However when I try to use it on the Neo, it's just incredibly glitchy and is completely frustrating to sign in.

    LineageOS support and battery optimisations?

  • I snagged one in that eBay deal, then dropped it and cracked the screen. Moto were legends about it though and sent me a new one under warranty, despite my admission of fault.

Buuuut I'm noticing bluetooth issues with the replacement. It's buggy connecting to me car, a d the audio skips sometimes. I thought it could be because I transferred Bluetooth profiles from another phone. I've also noticed wired headphones sound low quality with a bunch of static. Anyone else had these issues?
Hoping it's just software stuff that will be fixed with a reset. The first one worked perfectly.

Other than that, great phone. Fast enough for regular stuff, decent battery, compact and light. Even the camera is quite good. A little slow, and not great for videos, but images are much better than my old iPhone 13

    • I have a different Motorola phone (Edge 40), but have similar issues. Was thinking of buying one of these to hopefully fix the Bluetooth issues (as well as frequent mobile reception issues too). Shame it sounds like it has these problems as well.

  • I'm a 3.5mm jack diehard so this will be yet another Motorola model to cross off my list. I think the G55 (when discounted) will have to do.

    • +1

Just use a USB-C to 3.5mm jack adaptor. You're either going to have to get weak specced phones or have to spend a lot to get a decently specced one.

      • I've read online the sound quality isn't as good as the 3.5mm jack. Not sure how true that is.

        • I believe a dedicated USB C DAC offers far better sound quality than any on board 3.5mm jack.

        • Maybe so but I'm not an audiophile so it's probably a very negligible difference to me.

        • i've been interested in picking up one of those apple ones

    • Sound-quality vs aesthetic/movement…whatever your-preference? Earbuds: so easy to loose, including case.

    Thanks OP..
Matched after waiting 15min on hold. Likely delivered to my local store tomorrow.

    • Matched instantly for me. It must be you putting the record into their system.

Thanks OP! Price Matches at OW

  • I want some wireless headies, too!

  • Is the camera better than that of the g84 5g?

  • +1

Price beat and buy it anywhere else. HN are a garbage business, they didn't even have my switch 2 pre order for release day today so I went and got one from JB.
Will be avoiding them at all costs going forward

    • I personally not positive about reputation of HN. Ringed up OW.

Missed the $200 deal last year, but overall the deal isn’t sounds too bad to me. I am just replacing my secondary phone after it got banned last November. I hate how heavy most phones are so I shortlisted S24, S25 and this. Hope this works well for years.

  • Will this perform better than a refurbished iPhone XS in 2025? Looking to get one to replace my old man's iPhone 8+

    • I use iPhone as my primary phone (and buying this). I would definitely recommend you replace with an iPhone to be not feeling so odd moving into new phone.

If you can find an SE2 it would be great. It is similar to 8 series, but with upgraded hardware, bringing you security updates still a few more years to go.

      • Thanks, have considered the diff ecosystem will likely be a challenge for my dad (he still struggles with his iPhone on some functions/settings!)
