4 of these or 1 Samsung galaxy note 9?

    Decisions, decisions…

    • Check your wallet you will get the answer right away.

      • +3

My wallet says buy 2 of these, 1 to use and 1 for a spare, and bank the rest.

My ego says buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

I would normally listen to my heart, but that was taken away from me by Britney Spears…

        • depends if you want australian support and warranty and how much your phone is tax deductible ……some people drive mercedes when they could have bought 3 corollas …..both the the job but with a different level of refinement.

turn off for me is size, too big to fit into packet and i don’t like to carry phone in hand all the time, but i can see for business people the appeal especially with pen based apps of these larger phones formwhen you don’t have table or laptop and keyboard.

  • Has this got a genuine Global Rom or some funky seller Rom?

Also why is it impossible to find the blue variant in stock?

    • Nope. Rom not available yet.

      • Screen shoots says global rom stable?
Haven't checked XDA forum they will have the confirmation. Very smart people over there. Geniuses.

        • Stable geniuses

        • My brain says it wasn't last time I checked, which feels like yesterday.

However my brain has been delayed this week, so the last time I checked could have been a week ago

    • Because xiaomi hasn't release blue yet. You can check the official xiaomi page. No need able to read Chinese. Just see the colour selection you'll know.

  • AUD 40 extra from RRP.
    Hmmmm tempted.

After reading galaxy note 9 prices and thread, I really feel this phone is super cheap…ah if only all human stand together and not spending ridiculous amount of $ for just a phone, maybe we all can see more xiaomis

    • maybe we all can see more xiaomis

Nah, don't want to be lame.

    • ah if only all human stand together and not spending ridiculous amount of $ for just a phone, maybe we all can see more xiaomis

I agree, but keep in mind if all humans were like this then Xiaomi probably wouldn't be as cheap as they are because demand would be so much greater…!

      • xiaomi just copy other people’s stuff, with your latest release samsung, apple, google you pay for their innovation eg pen designs that can sense 1000s of pressure points, etc.

people are always on about ameras, check the spec on this against the note 9 camera specs,

otherwise it’s just another phone running android like lots of others, and lots of the features they leverage are just part of android, so might as well, get the latest version eg android pie.

        • Pretty much. There's a reason they don't have a big presence in western markets

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod:

They're for people who can't afford to buy the real thing.

If it had Band 28 and NFC this would be a killer phone with that massive battery…

  • When searching on eBay, the 128GB/6GB version cost twice as the 64GB/4GB version. Wonder why.

    • Because demand. But check the official xiaomi page. RMB 1999 ie AUD 400

    • Works out to be similar price after cashback. But Only 4 units left.

Does anyone know if it has Qi Wireless Charging or not? The reports from earlier this year before the phone was released seemed to suggest so, but I can't find anything relating to wireless charging on the actual phone specs anywhere which leads me to think that maybe it doesn't support it after all.

  • This is a real bargain just only for the huge battery and the price.

    • The huge battery can be used as a power bank which reverses charges for other phone or accessories.

    • Not worth. Redmi note 5 with global ROM is 250 with DHL shipping on AliExpress. An additional 130 for the mi max 3 is not worth it.

    • Thanks for sharing. I was almost going to buy one but now will wait till its available from gearbest or some other good website.

  • Good price, but I will wait for official stable rom, not seller brick rom

  • i will get my hands on one by 30th this month, i don't think there is a global rom version as yet, but it is not hard to delete all the chinese ad apps and install alphabet spyware suite. The global rom does not have the universal search feature the china rom has. Also native infusing the spy suite isnt a very good idea either.

As for the phone, if 40 above RRP is including delivery then it is a good price. cheapest i can find for transit shipping from China is 28 AUD. hence it wasnt too far off.

The blue version… appears to be reserved until china national day week….. tricky bastards… but it would also rumoured be launch color of the Pro version… yet they deny it even exists but many documents show it does…

  • is this better than the galaxy s8?

    • In terms of screen quality, camera, official warranty - No.
For battery life, screen size, and value for money -Yes.

Beast. Might have to start carrying a manbag.

    • that is my concern with phones this size ….if carrying stuff in your hands, how can carry the phone if it doesn’t fit into pockets.

      • Wear pants with massive pockets

      • I've got a 6" phone and wish it were bigger. The 18:9 form factor makes them seem smaller (narrower) than the equivalent phones on the older form factor.

        • Agree. I want to compare max 3 with 6.5" phone with old form for example. There is a website to compare the size of phones in real proportion. Can't remember. Maybe GSM arena…

      • Wont fit into strech tight skinny jeans pockets but fine with office pants for example. Side pocket not back pocket

  • 6.9 inch screen and the phone bring nearly the same build as the mi max 2, this phone ain't half bad tbh. The mi mix series is genuinely good value. Better than their flagship mi mix series if anything.

  • +1

As someone who currently has the Mi Max 2 for the past 10 months now I can clearly say this phone will be a neat upgrade. I've had a Huawei Mate before this and a few Samsung Galaxy Notes before that and since switching haven't looked back. Yes lack of band 28 and NFC is a hindrance to some but considering it's so much cheaper then the new Samsung Range and still a fair bit cheaper then the Huawei it's a winner. Huge battery and screen and overall performance is excellent. For this price you won't be disappointed surely.

    • Similar here. I had few galaxy notes, then mate 8, now Asus ZenFone 3 ultra. Looking for my first xiaomi.

  • Does this phone have support for google widevine DRM class 1? To play netflix in HD and stan?
