How do LG expect to compete in the high end gaming monitor with a model name like that? Don't you need to call it "Predator x3000" or FaTa!ity^^XXX or some crap to sell?

    • +4

Easy fix would be to call it the LG GG!

  • Just slightly to large for my needs.Looking for a 27" with much the same specs or with FreeSync. Have an LG 24" which I find quite good.

    • -1

It won’t be too big at all, once you have it, you would love it.

  • +2

Damn that's cheap. These have very, very good reviews. Low latency/input lag, low blur, high contrast, and of course G-SYNC.

    • -3

      5ms is pretty high.

      • You notice the difference?

      • +3

Latency and input lag are considerably more important than response time.

        • +1

Definitely. But if the response time shows lag, there's not really much point.

  • -5

5MS… yeah wouldn't consider this a gaming monitor.

    • +2

Ah yes, the classic "if it's not 1ms, don't bother". Response time is a completely pointless and misleading specification when you're talking about such minuscule numbers.

      • +1

While they are misleading, response times are relevant for high refresh rate monitors like this. The fact the numbers are miniscule doesn't really matter when frametimes are just as low.

1/144 = ~7ms. And to remove perceptible blurring you want a response time half as high, though 5ms is perfectly acceptable. And most monitors have some form of Overdrive to counter ghosting anyways.

The issue is response times aren't correctly reported and many 12ms monitors are better than "1ms" panels.

  • Great Price and features, Shame it doesn't come with 3 years of warranty as most other monitors do, yes i know there is ACL but i'd rather have a peace of mind for spending so much on a monitor.

Will be putting this monitor on my list to buy among others.

  • I have spent considerable time looking at monitors recently and for what it's worth I think you'll find this model while gsync equipped doesn't use the ULMB (ultra low motion blur) feature of gsync.

Now, I can't say whether or not anyone would give a crap about that, or whether or not you'd be able to tell but it was one of the reasons I bought the predator 27" over this, otherwise this would of been the monitor sitting on my desk. The predator was in a recent 20% off sale and it cost me about the same.

I'm not at all experienced when it comes to high refresh rate monitors, in fact I thought they were nothing but an expensive gaming fad. I'm only a casual gamer but will say in the future I will never buy a monitor with a standard 60 refresh rate again.

I thought i'd write this info here on the off chance it might help someone, i'm not looking for any kind of dick swinging argument about omg wtf bbq's and the rest of it that seems to go with passionate gaming techheads (of which I was once one when my flat screen trinitron CRT was cool or my scart capable tv)

    Cheers

    • Did your previous monitor also have g-sync? I have read elsewhere that from an end user perspective that the addition of g-sync has a bigger impact on how a monitor 'feels' than having a high (>60) refresh rate.

      • Hey mate,

Nope never used gsync before or had a high refresh rate monitor. First time for both. Nearly bought a non gsync monitor because they’re so much cheaper, can’t really say how much difference it makes as I’ve got no source of reference to compare against.

        Cheers,
        Bogrolls.

  • whats with these 144hz monitors with 5ms latency? i thought 2ms was the standard for gaming. is latency not as important anymore in high hz?

  • Not bad,G sync premium is huge, saw a FreeSync AOC 144hz QHD but 27 inch for $407.

    • Where did you see that monitor? Thanks.

      • $407? link or bullshit

        • Not on anymore, it was an eBay sale from 2 weeks ago I decided to not make a deal because I was on the fence and didn't want it to sell out, selfish me :( .

  • thank you I bought one, great price. I have been eyeing this for a long time because I owned a ROG previously but as amazing as g-sync is, 27" is just too small for me.

  • Perhaps G-Sync doesn't have long left. Considering the new cards coming are said to support HDMI's variable refresh rate standard, it is likely future drivers for old cards will also support Freesync.

    • +1

      I gosh darn hope so.

    • It's actually huge, I went for the rx470 over 1060 3gb, as for significantly less I get only marginally less performance + free sync functionality with my monitor.
