223

First post, Got one 2 days ago and I think it's a good deal with local warranty for 2 years(u might need it with the pop up mechanism). Has 8 gb ram 128 rom and a very beautiful bezelless display but lacks nfc or waterproofing. Jbhifi have exclusive for the handset.

This is not a deal, it's their standard price.

    • +3

Yes it is but it's cheaper than overseas in fact the cheapest I have ever seen so thought would share.

        • +9

I will keep that in mind for next time. I don't really know how forum works and this is my very first post.

        • +1

@Safoan: Good effort though. Come back with a knockout bargain.

    • +3

It is cheaper than anywhere else like gearbest.

  • it didn't survive with a bend test, too bad! watch from 5:30

    • +5

It didn't survive someone trying to destroy it, oh noes.

    • Wow, I need to be more careful with the phone. Luckily they added a case in the box hopefully that will help.

  • Not really bargin, forum post maybe? But nice phone!

    • +7

Not sure but why did you neg? You haven't found it cheaper elsewhere.

Because I don't think it's a bargain? Should I post other items that are listed at the RRP?

      • +2

Well it's a bit hard to find it cheaper for local stock given Oppo have given JB HiFi exclusive distribution, thereby effectively locking out any form of competition on price.

        • It doesn't have to be local stock.

    • Yes but it was the cheapest I have ever seen and also it comes with local warranty so thought it might be good deal for someone who was looking into importing it before. The phone has pretty good hardware for the price I think.

      • +3

No NFC and no IP rating. That's pathetic at this price point.

  • +14

No NFC on a $1000 phone? WTF?

    • +3

      No wireless charging too…

      • +8

Suddenly… Note 9 seems not so expensive anymore

      • +4

Agree with the two of you. NFC, wireless charging & waterproofing is a must nowadays and that missing in a flagship phone is just not acceptable.
And lets not talk about the popup camera

        • Why not talk about the most interesting feature of the phone?

        • @Safoan:

Each to their own, but from a reliability perspective, I am not interested in a phone with moving external parts like that.

Plus with no IP rating, flimsy construction and no NFC, I'm really left wondering why anyone would pay $1100 for a phone from a mid tier Chinese manufacturer.

The fact that it's posted up as a bargain/deal on here is ridiculous.

        • @stewy:
I see where u r coming from. I usually keep phones for a year or 2 and it has 2 year warranty so not if the mechanism fails during that time I am covered. Otherwise spec wise it's very similar to other flagship and I really liked the the pop up camera and how it looks with the bezelless display (it has the highest screen to body ratio in any phone). I had good experience with Chinese phone before when i bought them( I am switching from mi max 2) so let's see how it goes. Honestly I also think the price it a bit ridiculous for the phone but now a days phones are getting more and more expensive.

        • @stewy: that's what i said on the note 9 deal. Other manufacturers will fill in the "cheaper" range…we will all suffer for it..

  • +1

that is standard RRP I thought. Not sure if I like the pop up to unlock, my wifes face unlock on her oppo r11s is instant, this you have to wait for the camera to lift, even if they say its not long.

What is the camera s like , front and rear. Does it take great photos? (what phone did you have before to compare to?)

no wireles charge, nfc and waterproofing will make me look elsewhere even though I like the idea of full screen on front.

    • You could look at this:https://www.gsmarena.com/oppo_find_x-review-1801p5.php

    • I am not a big photo person so can't comment on camera quality, I had a mi max 2 before and the camera in this one is much better in comparison. The face unlock feature works flawlessly Everytime and I didn't feel that's it's that slow.if I am not wrong this face unlock feature is similar to iPhone technology so more secured and works in dark too.

I sacrificed the things you mentioned as the phone looks very futuristic compared to anything on the market ATM.

  • I see this is 128GB but OPPOs site says 256GB, does Australia/JBhifi get a cheaper version?

    • Local version is 128GB - likely brought in to hit the $1,099 RRP.

  • +1

it's a beautiful looking phone designed for someone to show off, but the existence of it will make all the rest manufacturers work harder hopefully another price war.

  • +2

Nice phone but don't think I can go another few years without NFC. Ew

  • over-priced China-droid. no thanks.

  • +2

tbh oppo's are not bad, hardware-wise. It's actually top notch build quality. The problem is software updates. They have so many phones coming out (R17 soon), while the R15 pro seems to have just been released. It makes it highly unlikely they'll be updated 2, let alone 1 major updates down the track. The R11 was released last year and they are still on nougat.

If you're paying 1k for a phone, another major manufacturers (heck even sony), are giving you 2 major updates.

    • Agreed, my one is running 8.1 not sure when will get 9.

  • Band 28?

NFC is critical though so can't buy :(

    • It supports band 28. No nfc.

  • +3

A $1000 plus phone without NFC. What are they cooking?

    • You mispelt smoking.

1000 bucks and they couldn't throw in an nfc chip?

  • +1

For a 2018 Phone and no NFC, even the cheaper $300 phone have it.
Also Oppo/Chinese branded phone should never be over $1000, as I only consider them as Middle tier phone, not high end. Playing with their phone at JBHifi, they're nowhere near the class of Samsung or Apple, Sony, Nokia or HTC etc..

    • +1

I dont totally agree regarding build quality as the phone looks and feels great. If u think this is expensive for a Chinese phone this phone has a even more expensive version. Which is over 2k.

Wow…just slap the word Lambo on the phone and charge people a premium. Beside no one give a crap about Lamborghini.

        • Well there is the porsche design huawei p20 pro also weighing at an eyewatering $2000

  • +1

once you go NFC you just cant go back

  • +1

Seems oppo is getting into the big boys league… even with the prices :o

    it is what it is.

    • Next you gonna say. Pay to play right flossy? 😁

  • WOW another X, so whoever give a "X" to their phone it's at least A$1000, hope we don't see XXX soon

    • Wait till the Samsung Note X and SX

    • You gonna have to sell your first born for that phone.

      • Lol

  • Dual SIM?

    • Yes

  • +3

Lol @ $1100 for an Oppo phone. Don't know who is on more drugs here, Oppo or JB HiFi.

Oppo were the worst company to deal with when it came to phones. No support. No updates. Missing features. Proprietary charger. Buggy OS/skin. No unlockable bootloader so you can install a working OS.

Can't wait for these to start failing with the pop-up camera and getting roasted on every social media avenue.

  • I'll wait for OPPO Find NFC to be released then

  • +4

No NFC on an $1100 phone is straight-up stupid.

  • -1

So much NFC talk. What do you do with it that you can’t live without?

    • Me personally. If im paying $1000+ on a phone i want as much feature as other phones that are lesser in value. Like band 28 and nfc. Or even infrared blaster and fm radio.

    • Google Pay. Makes life a lot easier.

  • Pretty sure i saw this in vietnam phone shop was about $450AUD after conversion..

    • +1

And where exactly is this Vietnam phone shop? The only version available in Vietnam cost 20,990,000 VND but is the 256GB version (price straight from thegioididong which is the biggest phone retailer in Vietnam with 1000s of shops). This is around $1,200 AUD.

Unless you buy a fake Oppo Find X (well there are fake Samsung and iPhone).

  • Is this bargain ? ( missus asked )

    • +1

Imo it's not a bargain. Especially when you're the only one that sells it local stock and at rrp. But others above seem to disagree. + For $1000+ with no nfc is definitely not a bargain.

  • Thanks OP.

  • +2

Over priced, no NFC, no other sellers to compete with locally (this would be the same as me posting a deal for something that Bunnings sells exclusively and at rep and calling it a deal).

You can get the Samsung Galaxy S9+ 64GB AU stock from Mobileciti for around $50 more using CASHREWARDS code at checkout for 8% off and another 2% off by going through the Cash Rewards site for the purchase. This will bring the price down from $1278 to around $1151 delivered.

  • Just wait for A month, will get under 900 min

$1100 for a phone running ColorOS, and no NFC so no Google Pay… Yeah, nah.
