1.2kg and "up to 11 hrs".
Would this make a decent PC for high school?IMO, no. The screen is too small and the resolution is not conducive to multitasking. It certainly nails the price but I think this would be better as a second PC than a primary one. You can find lightweight, decent battery life machines suitable for high school students under $1,000 though.
4GB DDR3 (!) RAM and eMMC sends alarm bells off.
Some people may get used to the 11.6" screen and the low resolution but it's certainly not great.Consider Chromebooks. Don't get the lower end ones. Get the ones at $400. Install the Android version of MS Office, and you're good to go.
He uses a chromebook at home now.
New school says Windows, but I noticed kids with macbooks so maybe ChromeOS would be OK. Especially if it runs Android apps. Not worried about 11" for kids. Good eyes. An iPad is plenty big enough. Low res would bother me, but they say it is OK. Mostly using one window fullscreen.
4GB not enough for Windows 10 office stuff? My god it is bloated. The eMMC on the chromebook is fine. But ChromeOS :)
4GB on Windows 10 seems to be alright. For now. I had a 2GB tablet/laptop hybrid from Acer. After the latest feature updates, it's ALMOST unusable.
But ChromeOS… it's come a long way. And they're implementing Linux containers, so soon, I'm possibly going to be able to play Steam games… on my very low specced Chromebook.
But then that's when I convince my wife that I need a Pixelbook.
This is a great deal, if i just did not spend all my dough on booze, women, and cars… [and wasted the rest]

Can't tell if that's sarcasm or not lol but I think you're serious.
How is that a great deal!?!?
Find it cheaper, most are around $1999, RRP $2299
Just because something is way overpriced in the first place doesn't mean it's a good deal when there's a reduction in price…
Why don't they make these with USB-C charging? If so it would be the perfect travel laptop with a PD power bank. Anyone know of any netbooks that do?

Atom processor tho.
Thanks @Nutrino but what makes you think this is USB-C charging?
Ive seen it on display.
I was looking at this and a pop-up announced US$269 until 26 August will go back to US$299 https://www.chuwi.com/product/items/Chuwi-LapBook-SE.html
N4100 processor 4 cores 4 threads are up to it. Boosting up to 2.4Ghz
13.3 inch FHD display
Optimized 9th HD Graphics
LapBook SE comes with 128GB SSD M.2 hard drive and 32GB eMMC
Average 8 hours battery lifeWould satisfy some of the issues mentioned above, nice to have SSD on top of eMMC
Thoughts?
Sorry can't add more - work now
You give up on build quality and another worry is lack of any sort of support or warranty. But it looks good value on paper.
Dell Inspiron from the dell outlet is also another option.
Dell Inspiron from the dell outlet is also another option.
Which ones? The 15" weigh 5lb, too heavy for school.
The 13" are too expensive.
The 11" have a slow N3060 processor.
The 11" AMD ? … just right!(will swap the hdd for ssd. Must check the ram is upgradable for future.)
Two in 1 variant.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/382819This version is usually posted on Ozbargain with Pentium N37xx CPU, but there's actually a different variant with a Core M3. But that costs $500 usually.
Looks like dogshit, don't waste your money on that.
128GB SSD M.2 hard drive and 32GB eMMC
Lol that's the strangest setup I've ever seen.
Seems to be alright though.
If only it had FHD & SSD, my Linux sense would be tingling…
