    • No, you can only have either 3G card or HD card.

  • Thank you for your advice. How about if i use PCI-E on Wifi and replace with Broadcom BCM970015 mini PCI-E Crystal HD Decoder 1080i and use USB wifi to support for WIFI connection? Do you think it is possible to have WIFI, 3G and HD Decoder?

    • It could work…the half size HD card would fit into the slot but I don't know whether it would work or not. I would suggest you ask HP support. You can always get a USB mobile broadband.

  • Hi all

    Has anyone received their:

    a) netbook and
    b) $40 paypal cashback.

    I emailed then about the netbook and they gave me the same bog standard reply about small delay in shipping which is now fixed. So where is it then?

    • +1

      no and no, so much for cashback before 1st march…I wonder what calendar they are using.

      • no for me as well. I have a friend who last time bought a netbook from them also took more than 14 days to dispatch. Hopefully it won't be the same case.

        • I emailed them again yesterday and this is the reply I got today:

          "…We're extremely sorry for the delay with your order.

          I'm afraid we had some issues with incorrect stock being sent to us from our supplier - we've had to send what we received back so we could get it replaced.

          I've spoken to our distribution centre who have informed me the correct stock is to arrive on the 03.03.11. Please understand we are doing our very best to ensure this issue is resolved as quickly as possible…"

          So hopefully they will be able to dispatch them Thursday afternoon or Friday.

  • +1

    My cashback just came thru. Thanks for the update ironsword re when the notebook should be dispatched.

    EDIT: my account now says "Processing".

    • ditto..

      • Same as me. They also replied my email stated :

        I have some good news! I've just spoken to our warehouse staff and can confirm the problem has since been resolved and your order will be dispatched within 24 hours- it should be arriving soon!

        • +2

          me too…hopefully it will arrive by friday.

        • +2

          What happen to dispatched within 24 hours?…they are very good at making up bullshits. It seems to be one bullshit after the other.

        • Is that 24 actual hours or business hours

          actual = 1 day, business = 3 days

  • Supposedly if they send out today, it will be arrived on Friday, if no, we can only get it by early next week.

    • Delivery takes 1-5 days depending on where you live. http://auspost.com.au/personal/parcel-service-standards.html

      So if they sent it out today, people living in Brisbane metro areas (such as yourself according to your profile) would expect to get it Monday since COTD is based in Moorabbin, Victoria.

      • I think is not possible that they can sent it out today. So just wait until next week for it….

  • Almost 2 weeks and not dispatched….

    I am flying out of Perth on 12th March and I will be pissed if it doesn't get here in time.

  • Looks like we'll be getting them sometime next week then. Liars. (though I'm secretly hoping they dispatched it today and just forgot to send out dispatch emails with tracking info. It wouldn't be the first time.)

    • Me too.. Received a registered notice today from Aust Post but i check it come from Sydney, so maybe it is from COTD. Will check it out tomorrow morning

      • COTD is based in Moorabbin, Victoria ^^. They might have another warehouse somewhere else though.

    • Looks like COTD aren't liars LOL. Just got mine then :D

  • Got mine today. Was despatched from COTD yesterday. All tracking worked as described via auspost. Got my Paypal cashback in my Paypal account yesterday as well.

    • Well I'm glad at least someone has got theirs.

  • Too bad, mine still not been dispatched yet. May i know where they sent it from? Sydney or Melbourne? Thanks.

    • Melbourne. I also live in Melbourne.

  • Order 17nnnnnn entered processing on the 2nd of Mar 2011.

    Processing can take up to 5 business days, and delivery can take up to 9 business days.

    You will be notified of your courier and tracking number when your parcel is dispatched.

    Please advise us if you have not received your parcel by the 19th of Mar 2011.

    • that is SUPER SLOW!!!!!!
    • That's what mine is showing as well. Still "processing".

  • Anybody show their item been dispatched or they have received the netbook? Mine still in process….

  • I didn't get my dispatched email notice … but to my surprise I've got it today!… very nice netbook indeed. Love the high resolution!.

    • Lucky you…. hopefully we also get the surprise as well…

    • Same here. Mine still says "processing" but it arrived today. Woo!

  • Mine still says "processing" too. My parcel people come before 9am so no surprise arrival for me today. Hopefully Monday….. COTD is selling this Notebook again today along with other stuff.

    Hi Guys,

    I found this usually works with COTD Dispatch code, maybe you just try and see in http://auspost.com.au/track. Just key in "8CB" the followed by your order code, i think you should know where is your order now. Mine is MPF BULK LETTERS (PROFIT CTR), hopefully can receive it by Monday.

    Hope this helps.

    • +1

      Hey, that seems to suggest I should visit my PO, looks like it works very well! Thank you.

    • +1

      Hey thanks for that - mine is on the move.

    • You're a genius. Followed your instruction and mine have just been delivered.

    • +1

      GENIUS! mine says Manifest accepted - what does that mean?

      Did you guys notice that 5102 is back on cotd but this time $349 with 1gb RAM high fives
      http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_…

      • Yes, and the display isn't 1366x768 either.

      • +1

        Yeah I noticed it was there but didn't really look at the specs - also has only Windows 7 Starter and no 3G. The HDD is bigger on today's one but the other specs on the one I bought outweigh that (for me anyway).

    • +1

      Yes, I've got mine, was at the post office.

      Thanks again.

  • Hi Guys, sorry for can't reply you guys because i have limited by OZbargain to give max of 5 comments in the forum. Too bad as i'm still a new in this forum. Anyway, for those who enjoy the Hp5102 now, can you all give comments on the netbook, Thanks. Anyway, mine still at Manifest accepted. Hopefully can get it next week. Cheers and enjoy guys.

    • It's very nice, excellent build. I think the package is meant to be sold to optus biz customers. I'm a bit disappointed it didn't come with a pouch. Anyway, it took a while to setup, test, windows updates, update hp drivers, softwares, bios, etc.

      • It doesn't seem to have bluetooth. wtf

        • It definately does not have bluetooth. I've checked in the BIOS and it states that there is NO bluetooth.

        • I was expecting it to have bluetooth considering it was advertised as having bluetooth, in both the specs and in the picture. I looked in device manager etc… and I can't find bluetooth hardware. Not impressed. (the netbook on the whole is quite good though)

        • +1

          Bluetooth was listed here and it is shown in the picture here too. Looking back at "Caught", it is missing!

          Looks like the advert may have been wrong and they are covering it up.

        • The specs on the advert was:
          HP 5102 3G (Black Onyx)
          * 10.1" LED HD Anti-Glare (1366 x 768)
          * 2GB DDR2 (800MHz)
          * 160GB SATA HDD
          * Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD
          * Gigabit Ethernet LAN, 802.11 a/b/g/n WLAN
          * Bluetooth 2.1
          * HP Mobile Broadband (Integrated WWAN Module/3G Sim Card Slot)
          * High Definition Audio, WebCam, SD/MMC Media Card Reader
          * Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed
          * 2 year HP Australia warranty
          * VGA, 3x USB, RJ-45, Audio Jacks

      • I checked the warranty online and mine starts on 10 Aug 2010 and ends on 08 Oct 2012. I hope the info is just not up to date and that the 2 year warranty should be based on the invoice date.

        • You can change the warranty start/finish dates by emailing HP support with invoice etc…there's a post on whirlpool: http://whrl.pl/RcFtfj about it.

  • maybe you need to update the software. or check on device manager.

  • Got mine this morning and going thru the setup now. Disappointed that there is no bluetooth but I do have a dongle here that I use on my old netbook. Just had a look on eBay and you can buy internal bluetooth module for about $30.

    • Mine still on the way… can't wait to get it soon. How's the other thing such as 3G. Does it works well?

  • you can get a $2 bluetooth dongle from dealextreme.com

    How can cotd get away with wrongly mentioning that it has bluetooth? what do you think we should all do? Sure its a $2 fix but that is one less USB port available and its just plain wrong for them to be able to cover up their misleading and deceptive conduct and get away with it. Most of their customers are not as savvy as ozbargainers so we need to represent the smaller people.

    • +1

      I certainly don't want the hassle of carrying a dongle with it, just like I don't want to carry of USB 3G with it. I think we should firstly lodge a complaint by email. If more people lodge a complaint then there is more chance of them doing something about it. If that fails then I guess we have to lodge a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs.

      • A lady on facebook: "COTD informed me to contact HP re possible help in configuring the Netbook. HP have confirmed that this Business model was not shipped with Bluetooth and to return it for the item in which I agreed to purchase which is the HP mini with Bluetooth."

        • So, does that mean a replacement for another variant that is missing other things?

          I like my new machine, first really usable netbook for me, the display is beautiful. Mind you, I'm used to 1920x1200 on a 17" — so 1366x768 on a 10.1" is quite a change. But it is heaps better than any 1024x600 display for sure.

          Oh and if it is a "business" model, then why "Windows 7 Home Premium" ????

        • +1

          I'm kind of pissed off with COTD. First I bought some air conditioners that were advertised as 3HP when I got them it was 2.5HP WTF? Now it was say to have bluetooth now it doesn't?!!!!

          Seriously I'm pissed. We need to do something about these false advertising tactics to get people to buy it and then it's not the final product.

          Which government body should I contact? Most pissed off about the airconditioners as I bought 8 of them. COTD had stopped responding to my emails.

  • Im in melbourne and auspost website has said manifest received for the last 6days…….. so sick of waiting mine is for a gift!

  • I just read that thread on Facebook and this is the info given to the same lady nattyu88 quoted above:

    (COTD has) "offered full refund on return of the unit..up to 10 business days though. Offered me free bluetooth dongle if I wished to keep the unit."

    I've just spent hours updating it and putting my stuff on it and don't want to have to go thru the pain of returning it - only refund seems to be on offer and not replacement. Might claim the dongle though (was sharing my other dongle with daughter) - annoying to have to use up a USB port but I guess this is the lesser pain to deal with.

    • I’ve just spent hours updating it and putting my stuff on it and don’t want to have to go thru the pain of returning it - only refund seems to be on offer and not replacement. i wouldn't take the Bluetooth dongle if i had bought this,
      its $2 and a waste of a USB plug if needed to use it, unless they offer you a bluetooth module(so that it is inbuilt it would be better)

      • yer I know but apparently the 2 choices are just return for refund or they'll send a dongle. :/

  • anyone know what we can do with the Optus thing? do we have a sim card inthere somewhere?

    • There's an optus sim card already in the netbook. It's just behind the battery. Haven't tried to activate/use it yet though. I think I'll wait for COTD's response regarding the lack of bluetooth.

      • Have you had a response yet? It's been 3 days and I still haven't had a response.

        • Not yet. I emailed them (packing issues department) Monday night so hopefully I'll get a response by Thursday (today). Which "department" did you email? I just checked their "email us" section and I think there are new options there. Has "Product Questions - Post Sale" always been there? I definitely didn't notice this last time I checked…

        • +1

          Just received this response:

          After speaking with our supplier, it seems that unfortunately we have been provided with unit's lacking bluetooth, whereas our sample unit had this functionality.
          We can confirm however that all other specs are the same, and we are happy to organise for a USB bluetooth dongle to be sent to you free of charge in light of this error.
          Please confirm your shipping address so that we can get one out to your right away! Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • It seems like COTD are just going to wipe their hands of this one and palm it off to HP. If you follow the posts on COTD's facebook page you'll see one person was offered either refund or free dongle but someone else was fobbed off to HP and offered no further assistance from COTD.

    http://www.facebook.com/CatchAustralia/posts/501691200869

    • Seems like HP's fault about the situation

  • I got the same response. I'd prefer a replacement netbook with all the features they advertised rather than accepting the offer of a USB bluetooth dongle and losing a USB port. They may as well have advertised 2 usb ports, with a bluetooth dongle sticking out the side. It sounds inconvenient to me. What is everyone else going to do? Accept the usb dongle offer or ask for a replacement/refund?

    • As far as I can tell they are not offering a replacement - only a refund. After reading that they offered the lady on their FB page a dongle I just emailed them and asked for one and they got back to me fairly quickly to say they'll gladly send one to me. Otherwise they say to whinge to HP regarding the lack of bluetooth coz it's apparently their mistake. Yer I'd rather it had internal bluetooth and it sucks but it just seems getting the dongle is the lesser of all the pains to go thru. I have looked at some internal bluetooth's on eBay and might just buy one and install it myself.

      • Even if it is HP's fault shouldn't COTD contact HP on our behalf requesting correct stock? They can't just exclude themselves from the issue. They placed an order with HP and received the wrong product. If we'd purchased from HP directly then it would make sense to contact HP… It probably just comes down to money rather than doing what's right by the customer. Eg. If COTD sold 200 netbooks and everyone requested a replacement, COTD would have to pay shipping for the return of netbook and delivery of the replacement. That would cost at least $20. (vic shipping) 200 x 20 = $4000. Sending out a bluetooth dongle would probs cost much less. They currently have, what looks to be a heart-shaped? o_O USB bluetooth dongle (though only 2.0 not 2.1) for $11.90 delivered. Shipping this to everyone affected saves themselves $1620.

    • +2

      I feel like telling them to take their $2 USB dongle and shove it up their **** lol

  • any developments??

    • I got my free bluetooth dongle yesterday.
