Don't know why they'd exclude the air, that thing is due for a refresh soon, should be trying to get rid of it.

    • +1

True, even Mac Mini is included.

      • +1

I think Tim Cook hated the Mac mini. First thing he did was cripple it, then it has been neglected for five years. As a result you would have to be an absolute ninny to buy one, so Cook can point to sales and say ”see, nobody wants them!” to justify killing it off.

I think the air is still Apple’s top selling computer. Tragic as that is.

        • Apple is all about ARM based iOS now and therefore killing off their traditional user base.

    • I hope the refresh of the Air is just the 12' MacBook with a better keyboard, webcam and some improved specs.

Don't forget to price beat at officeworks for an additional 5% off. Can be hit and miss but worked for me last time by going in store. They don't have to have it in stock as they can order it in. Try that first before dropping the price match question.

    • Might also be possible to price match over the phone?

      • +1

I just got mine priced match on phone (called my nearest store direct) and pick up in store

    • +5

This is great advice. Not only do you save 5%, but this way also avoids the pesky ~3% surcharge that JB places on AmEx cards. Officeworks does not charge any surcharges on any type of card payments.

  • Anyone knows where you can order a JB Giftcard with a discount and receive it instantly via email?

    • If you order one from workpac site, it's instant.

    • Same for lumo rewards

Does anyone know how long RACQ takes?

    • On the off chance you have an insurance policy with Youii, you can get 6.5% $100/$200/$500 gift cards.

Still too damn expensive better off going to JW computers or pccasegear. Bought a laptop from JW 2 years ago for $1500 which was at time $2800 at jphifi.

    • This one?

      https://www.jw.com.au/

Never even heard of them, how are they vs the 'usual suspects' e.g. PCCG, MSY, Scorptec, CPL etc

    • +10

i really doubt you bought a $2800 macbook for $1500 there and if you’re talking about a windows laptop then you’re comparing a completely different item and your post is way off topic

      • Tbf you better off buying a second hard MacBook 15 if that's what your after. The prices for the latest ones with no in-built ports and the new crap keyboard are ridiculous.

      • Yeah it is, thought the post said 10% off computers, missed whole Apple part lols

  • I hope a 10% off comes when the new iMacs are released

  • Those storage prices are really ridiculous considering the price of SSD's nowadays, even the top M2 ones.

$3-500 for an update from 256GB (which probably shouldn't even exist nowadays) to 512GB. Sheesh

    • Yep still decent value as the SSD's are very high spec. Equiv SSD at RRP is the same price or more in most cases.

JB still hasn’t shipped mine from the last sale that was 4 weeks ago.

    • Have you contacted them about it? sounds like a long time. My guess is they ran out of stock and needed to order in some more and it's not everyday you order in MacBooks so it's taking a while.

      • They’ve shown it as in stock next day delivery for the last week

    • +12

It’s JB… they aren’t going to screw you. Something has obviously gone wrong. Hardly worth a neg on this deal…. especially since it sounds like you haven’t followed it up.

      • +1

Ordered 28/07. Contacted them on web form no response (twice). Twitter not helpful. Supposed to be delivered last Wednesday. Have requested refund and price matched at Apple store.

        • JB are notoriously bad online. Just give them a call, I’m sure you could get it worked out quickly enough if you’re still willing. Best of luck.

        • @snagseb: they don’t list a phone number anywhere. I understand there big demand but the Apple store has had them in stock the last 3 weeks. JB were advertising next day delivery when they haven’t even shipped previous orders. Every other retailer would say backordered. Not responding to either of my web requests when they have been sitting on $3700 of my money for weeks is unacceptable. Their whole advertising scheme is deceptive and now they’ve lost a customer for life.

    • You've tried nothing and are all out of ideas?

    • +1

Pretty courageous posting something like that in an Apple deal.

    • +1

Same thing with mine. I contacted on Thursday and finally got dispatched on Friday. Will get it next week hopefully.

  • If you can get it pricematched somewhere in stock and pick it up, go for it it’s a great deal. If you buy it from JB just be wary that you will probably have to wait much longer than they promise.

  • I would not buy anything until Apple release their new models at Oct this year

    • +1

MacBook Pro was just updated. Other models should wait.

    • +1

Waiting on 2020 models to be announced, no deal

      • It may be worth it for the iMac this year as it’s 20th anniversary. Hence why some people are waiting.

  • Thanks OP, was waiting for a MacBook Pro deal. Time to pull the trigger

  • Remember you can get yet another 10% back if you are heading overseas in the next 60 days after purchase. Helps to make pricey Mac gear that bit more realistic.

  • +2

    I got 20% off.

    • Myer
    • Price match JB
    • They have 10% bonus for gift vouchers, e.g. $500 = $550. Ends today.
      • Myer one points.
    • can you explain myer gift card process? couldn't find it online, thanks

    • How much did you pay?

I doubt it is 20% but more like 19% off the RRP

  • Wish it was on the iwatch!

  • For whoever didn’t purchase yet you can get a better deal here:
