Thanks TA. Wife just made the switch from optus to VF using this deal. Best sim only deal i have come across for a while

    • Got tracking cashback email from cashback and it says cashback will be $29.25.

  • I think I'm getting charged $5 ex gst for roaming

    • Mine was $5 ex GST, though $5 total (ie no GST collected for the roaming fee). Unsure if this has changed since the GST changes - this was back in May.

      • They can't charge you GST on overseas roaming… Even though billing is in Oz.. You are using the service overseas.. If they do charge you dispute this with the tio

        • Yeah, I believe this is all correct. Just hadn't used it internationally myself since the changes so can't confirm if Vodafone does charge it or not.

  • does this work for upgrades?

    • Yes it does.

    • +1

you have to check if you are eligible, go to the link, there's an upgrade page for existing customers.

    • +1

      and the cash rewards?

  • +2

TA, do you get weekend rates or flex time for these posts?

    • or % from the deal, doesn't matter when you work then.

  • Anyway to share the 40gb with a 2nd tablet sim?

    • $15 for 2 gb month to month and you can share

  • +4

Just FYI, they actually reduced the data allowance from last week by 10GB from 50GB to 40Gb while dropping the price by $5 - YMMV as to whether that's better value or not

    • But did they increase the international calls?

      • No

  • $35 per month for 2gb data, emmmm

    • I feel this comment is getting enough attention when there's a huge difference in 1000 minutes to 150 minutes.

    • Helps me heaps, thanks.

    • Sorry for post plan newbie questions:
      1. Are the international minutes of 1000 for Zone 1 and 150 for Zone 2 refreshed each month?
      2. the 1000 for Zone 1 is independent of my Zone 2 of 150 minutes?

optus $80 200gb free samsung tab s4,is better of this?

  • +3

best Thing about voda is international roaming

    • agreed.

  • I am on $40 sim only plus handset instalment plan. I called Vodafone to change my current $40 plan to this $40 plan and they said I can’t do it as I have handset instalment. Anyone else on the same boat? I always thought that handset instalment is separate from sim plan so I am free to move to any sim only plan as I wish but looks like that is not the case. Very very unhappy about this.

    • Cancel the current agreement first and pay the termination fee. only then you can change the SIM plan.

      • Neah mate, all good. Managed to get the deal without cancelling any existing arrangement. Super happy!

        • I am in the same boat. How did you do it?

        • +1

          @wildweasel:

By calling them. First guy refused to honor it but called again next day and the saint guy did it for me.

          @IMadeYouReadThis:

Thanks mate. Saved me 5$ and got me a sweet deal! Thanks again. Cant thank you enough!
          Edit:Thanks again :-P

        • @wildweasel:

          Glad I could help :)

    • I am payment 12 month sim only and paying $40 very month for 18 go data and 150 international minutes.
I have no handset contract.I have already served 5 months.I called vodafone customer service today and requested to upgrade my plan to the 40gb and 1000 Int minutes.
They asked me to pay 99 dollars to end my contract and get this new contract foe anothe 12 months. That means I have to pay 40$ every month and 99$ extra.so I refused to pay. They are not flexible to upgrade even though we pay same charges for both plans. They asked me to apply again in December when my contract finishes.
I am upset now and not happy with Vodafone response.

  • oops

    We'll be back soon…

This application is temporarily down for maintenance.
We are hard at work bringing it back as quickly as possible.

    Thanks for your patience.

    • Based on my experience, Vodafone website does night maintenance every one or two days. By 7am AEST the website usually is accessible again.

  • If you signed up lessvthan 2 weeks ago on the 50gb for $50/mth plan, can you switch to this under the cooling off period condition?

  • +1

Such a shame they have terrible coverage in regional VIC or i would jump on this deal.

    • Fone

    • +17

Negs an Australian deal on an Australian website because it's not available in the South Pacific. Yeah that makes sense.

    • +4

This is an offer from Vodafone Hutchison Australia Pty Limited not Vodafone Fiji Limited (a subsidiary of Amalgamated Telecom Holdings) or any other South Pacific island carrier.

  • Optus $44/month = 50GB+Unlimited International…?

    • +2

Can you link to this one please?

  • Anyone tried calling to see if they will give a month or two free for loyal customers?

    • +2

I tried calling them. They were willing to offer 50GB data(40GB+10GB) for $40.50. I'm with vodafone for the past 9 years.

      • Damn, I thought they wouldn't budge.

I have been with them for about 9yrs as well. Ended up just renewing for a year without any extras :(

      • +1

They gave me the same. I was comparing it with the $36 optus but decided to stick with Voda as it has the Zone 2 int minutes countries which optus dont have. So $40.50 -for 50 GB + all the other inclusions for the above plan.

        • me too, am staying with voda. took $40.50 plan

      • I tried to get this but they wouldn't budge so I just got the $40 plan…

      • I got offered the same but considering Telstra $39 for 20gb with $200 jb gift card. Did anyone consider this?

  • Hey TA,

I am a regular on cash rewards, and seems like my CR didn't go through this time with the vodaphone deal. Is this something you can look at?

I didn't receive a confirmation email, and there is an audit trail on my click history that I've use cash rewards.

  • -2

    Expensive and lock in

    • Negged but true

  • Credit check required?

    • yep

  • Its pretty crazy how much data the operators are throwing at mobile customers.

If you have a elderly parents, you can probably replace their dedicated broadband service with an extra mobile data sim pooled into your main data pool.

  • <=>$1 a GB seems to be the golden benchmark for 2018 making the $60/80gb with unlimited data the best deal and you can get 10% off if your seniors discount too

  • Anyone know what their coverage is like both north around Port Stephens and south around Batemans Bay? I’m with Telstra and thinking of jumping on this if there’s minimal difference.

    • You could either call them to check the coverage for you or you could buy a $2 sim to test out the network. Vodafone has improved significantly in last 5 years..

  • Has the price gone back up to $45 or am I doing something wrong?

    • You will get $5 off each month, read the T&C of the plan.

  • Been with Vodafone for 12+ years. I am done with them after my last call with their retention team. They basically offered me nothing special for being a loyal customer.

I told them you give me no choice but to move somewhere else. They did not seem to care much and said it's my choice to move.

So you know what, I bought a Lebara SIM for the 180 day special they are running. I am still going to be using their network though until I find a decent offer by the time the 180 days voucher finishes which I am hoping the S10 would be out then.

I learnt from this experience that there is no need to stay loyal to any company (especially telco ones) and once you find a better offer, jump to it.

I was also considering the Optus 20% offer but that would lock me into 12 months.

I am already on a month to month at the moment I want to stay free and they refused to give me this offer on a month to month.

I will soon move my other 2 services away I hope.

    • They basically offered me nothing special for being a loyal customer.

You asked for too much tbh, the offer is on 12 months plan and you wanted month to month… You could have asked for a discount or more data? When the retention team offers you something they need to prove the case by stating that you would stick with them for say 12 months or so… but your case was just not strong enough, you could have got the offer today and leave them next month.

But I agree with you, being loyal is only good for the company be it Telcos or the banks, it doesn't help the consumer.

    • Gone are those days when loyalty used to matter. Nowadays getting new customers seems to be the winning point. The shareholders of these big companies all get excited when the company says they have won "so" many new customers. No one cares what happens to the existing customers. This is proven by all these new offers targetted only for those "new".

As consumers, the best way for us to move forward is to keep switching companies every few months or max an year to keep our bills low.
