          They CAN be used here, you can rewire 12v systems, car, motorcycle, r/c models etc.
          You assume mains AC home use.

          @chickenface: I hear China is heavily unionised, with over the top regulations on what homeowners can do in their own homes (you need a Made in China cert mark on all electrical goods) thereby forcing them to use overpriced tradesmen for anything more than a light bulb change. Glad I don't live there!
