I never really "got" RSS. The few blogs and things that still update that way I get sent to my email.

I think you need to establish the RSS habit for this to be part of your day.

Pitchfork album reviews, pitchfork news, 9to5mac, 9to5google, ausdroid, abc news, vulture, business insider, cnet, Engadget, filmdrunk, geekologie, gizmodo, lifehacker, Time, Vice, Warming Glow, etc

It's how I see all OzBargain posts including this one. I have 4 OzB RSS feeds, Every post, Front page, "Free" and Classifieds.

im still trying to figure out how to use it lol

      • Same here, and there is a part of me that doesn't want to understand an app that will encourage me to surf the net even more! :)

        • It stops you from surfing the Internet.

Instead of jumping from page to page, seeing what's new, you just subscribe to the RSS feed, and it will tell you when there are new stories. Skim through, if nothing is of interest, then mark it all read. Then you can ignore the existence of the Web until it notifies you again.

        1. Sign up for a Feedly account.
        2. Add the RSS urls you want.
        3. Add your Feedly account to Reeder.

        Where's the tricky part?

        • What is the benefit of using Reeder over Feedly for actually reading articles? Better layout?

          @petma690:

          Better UI and Mercury integration.

Really hope this doesn't mean this app is being killed.

More likely that Reeder 4 is coming.

      • Could be, but as has been said for many years now RSS is just not a ‘retail friendly’ technology, never mind that Twitter runs on it. If it’s not popular now then profits from an app like Reeder are looking like a dodgy bet.

This is basically my OzBargain app :) great app, been using it for over half a decade! Hopefully it’s not being abandoned, however it’s always had a slow dev cycle

    Thanks OP!

  • Says only available on Mac os when I try to download on my iPhone

  • I use Newsify on iPhone/iPad, but could be useful on my Mac.

Use this app daily on iOS and MacOS have been doing so for years.

With Feedly as the backend, moved there after Google Reader was retired.

  • Looking to setup ozbargain on this….Does anyone have any pointers or even better a tutorial?

I could probably count on one hand the number of apps I've paid money for and this is one of them.
