  • Surely that is just a shelf. What makes it specifically for shoes?

    • Ah, I see now, you need to buy the shoe boxes and then put those on the shelf shoe storage. So it is more like a box storage unit?

It is just a shelf unit, with fabric shelves that take little weight. No need for boxes, unless you want to keep your shoes out of sight.

    • Shoe-sized.
Probably also to do with the weight it can support.

    • "non-woven fabric" usually means felt, or the "fabric" that reusable shopping bags are made from. Has anyone seen one of these units to confirm what the "non-woven fabric" is?

      • +3

        Yep, I have one.

It's like a fake-leather feeling material. Seems pretty strong. Even at full price it's a good buy. Ours is hidden away in our wardrobe and used for shoes.

"non-woven" fabric tends to suggest lack of strength, which may be the main problem with a steel tube, plastic connector shelf unit with limit of 5kg/shelf. Likely unstable, unless tucked away. I wouldn't expect it to last long.

I'm using a basic cheap steel shelf unit (half height so cost $4) with wire shoe racks added to bottom. Means solid shelves, particularly at top - useful for other storage. This unit is a bit big for my entrance area.

        • I think 5kg is enough for most cases. I just measured my size-10 leather work boots (not steel-capped), and they weigh 1211g and take up 23cm of width. At a squeeze I could fit four pairs side-by-side on a shelf, and the weight would be 4844g - just under 5kg.

        • @Russ:
Should be no problem with most shoes, but Bunnings illustration shows boxes on the shelves… 5Kg isn't much capacity & overloading may quickly wreck the unit.

My 70cm wide shoe rack takes 4 pair of shoes & boots per level, with casual boots weighing over 1kg. So 5kg limit in a 92cm wide unit could easily be exceeded.

  • I am pretty sure I have the 3 tiered version of this and can hold an xbox for under the tv!

  • Having recently purchased a shoe rack I can confirm this is great value

  • something like this is also $10

    • I have a bunch of these from when they were on sale for $5. Good as shelves. Major overkill for shoes unless all your shoes are knee highs.

I grabbed 2 of the '5 Tier Shoe Organiser' today after looking at the unit that was on display (in the laundry section, of course). They are simple pipe and connector construction, which works well as the shelf is longer than the gap that I have. It will be a simple task to cut the pipes to length and construct a higher unit using 2 kits.

    Cheers for posting @chibot

  • Had a look at the shoe organiser last night. The fabric was similar to low quality tarp, so I doubt it will last very long if left outside. Also it's quite large, about 2 and bit feet high. Did not bother buying…
