    Is this cheap?

    What is "lite"

Smaller screen but bigger battery and headphones jack….

It seems odd to get negged for a Question, I like many others dont really understand the models of Xiaomi

    • +1

      Yeah it's bit confusing.
The 'Lite' version isn't actually based off the 'non-lite' version.
In China they are the Redmi 6 Pro and Mix 6X respectively but come with MIUI installed.
They are largely unrelated phones that have Android One on them.
So depending on what you want the lite may better suit your needs.

I'm tossing up between the two of them:

      Mi A2 Lite
      5.84 inch screen 1080 x 2280 (432 ppi) but has notch (I'm not keen on a notch)
      Snapdragon 625
      3/4 Gb RAM
      Micro SD card
      Micro USB 2.0
      4000 mAh battery

      Mi A2
5.99 inch screen 1080 x 2160 (403 ppi) no notch but the pixel density is actually lower.
Snapdragon 660 (faster but will draw more power)
      4/6 Gb RAM (I don't need 6Gb of RAM)
No Micro SD card (not really an issue for me)
      USB 2.0 Type C
      3000 mAh battery

      See full comparison here:
      https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9247&idPhone2…

So the Lite version isn't too far of the non-lite version as a whole package and (importantly for me) the lite version should last a LOT longer on a single charge than the non-lite version as the Snapdragon 625 should consume less power and the battery is 33% larger.
Normally it would be a no-brainer and I'd go for the lite version except that there is only about $50 difference between the 4GB versions of both phones ($280 vs. $330) making the decision a bit harder!

So I'm waiting for the non-lite version to drop below $300 AUD :)

Normal price on DWI's ebay store, less with coupons. Lame deal.

    • Hi altomic,
      Thanks for the link
I personally never heard about Sunsky? Do you have any experience?
Are they legit china shop like Gearbest or HongKong Goldway?

      • +2

never used them myself. they have been around - i.e. i've seen their name pop up occasionally. like goldway.

Mi Mix 2 128Gb for <$500? Seems like a decent price?

Feedback from someone who bought x2 for $254 each recently (Bangood, deal is not there now).

Apart from being a nice Android One phone, it is surprisingly slightly sluggish.
Camera quality is also not that great. Does not compare to a iPhone 5S even.

Still Perfect phone for my 15-year-oldish kids

    • 625 processor is getting on, would love this device with something speedier

    • As much as this sounds weird, Stock Android slows it down for some odd reason.

  • I paid about AU$260 for my 4GB/64GB A2 Lite at banggood.com.

    Love the phone though!

  • Any reason to go for this over the Note 5 advertised a couple of weeks ago? Apart from Android One of course.

    • +3

redmi note 5 is way better than this. the standard Mi A2 however is comparable to the redmi note 5

For those of you are that interested, the non-lite version is also on sale if you're willing to pay the extra:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Global-Version-Xiao…

  • Bought it off DWI website with coupon code for $229 inc. GST and Delivery.

    • Which code?
