  • Not a really good deal, considering its a single core CPU and from Centrecom.

Better go with a dual core HP laptop from Digital Star for the same price:
    http://images.digitalstar.com.au/images/promotions/newslette…

All of the T3xxx series are dual cores.

Sorry, my bad. Then it is not a bad deal, but still need to be cautious as it is Centrecom…

        • +1

          i've never had a problem with them…

have bought 2 systems, one laptop and numerous peripherals over the years…

Their bad name isn't came from nowhere. I only bought something once in their Christmas Sale or whatever that was and got scammed. If you search here in ozbargain or whirlpool, you would know what i refer to. Good luck to anyone buying from them.

      Thanks for the lead…

      Say, HP often uses 7200 RPM hard drives in notebooks;
does this one have 7200 RPM spin-rate???

In any case, I think Digital Star does very well:

      1. lists 2 GB RAM upgrades on same page;
.. add $39 to go up to a total of 4 GB

      2. charges $5 -LESS- than ComCentre for
.. shipment to areas like ours (even tho
.. DS seems to be located FARTHER from us)

      3. charged NO MORE for ringing-in an order

      4. had very helpful staff (could advise on
.. the upgrade options; also advised - with-
.. out prompting from us - that, to upgrade
.. a '620 to 8 GB would require ALSO up-
        .. grading Win 7 to 64-bit version…

I =LIKE= how Dig'l Star seems to operate!!!

Only the HP 620 has Bluetooth.

I just hope it turns out to be a usable &
      long-lasting notebook… :-)

PS Anybody got one already? How is it?

  • can this be upgraded to 4Gb ram and better cpu?

    • ram yes, cpu no.

      • actually you can upgrade the cpu to a faster one for $100+. However, please be aware that you're warranty will be void as you'll need to take apart the entire computer which is very time consuming particularly if you don't know what you are doing.

  • Exact same deal from Digital Centre, down to the 1 per customer: http://www.digitalcentre.com.au/p/1193771/toshiba-satellite-…

    Same mob or?

A lot of people are thrown off by the name Celeron.

This T3300 is actually just as fast as a Core 2 Duo T6400 / 6500.

    • But do they still knobble the speedstep power savings on the Cellies, like they used too?

EDIT: yes, it seems they still do that grrr. 35W TDP! you can get a 3GHz C2D that is 28Watt.

      • From the specifications sheet it appears that this CPU doesn't have enhanced speedstep, so yeah, this CPU ain't exactly green.

        • Not really interested in the lack of greeness, its more about the battery life, heat, and noise a 35W low speed CPU will put out as its constantly chugging away.

this is a horribly budget laptop

    2 usb, no hdmi???

    yuck… it's a Satellite PRO? what does the non-Pro have? 1 x usb?

Centercom and other places were selling Compaq 620 for same money… better machine with 3 usb, hdmi and express slot…

    • The "Pro" is supposed to be better build. Its still only one step up from their budget range "Satelite" non-Pro.

Never had even the slightest issue at Greensborough/Bundoora.

Well informed guys who know what they're talking about, speak fluent English and are always up for a chat.

  • Shipping to Sydney?

    • No, only within Australia.

      • I never realised I lived in Canada.

Seriously. Not going to create an account just to see how much it costs. Any site that forces you like that pisses me off.

  • The whole Satellite range is a joke - prone to overheating, noise, tacky design…

Spend the money on something worthwhile… like a non-Toshiba laptop.

    • agree!

    • The satellite range was rather cheap entry level , all vendors entry notebooks generally have the same , maybe try a protege or qosimo if you want a higher quality machine

ps glad you didnt mention Tecra otherwise i would have nothing to say except yes :)
