  • what about the people who has already signed up to ABB from TC?

Uhhh sorry on my part for not posting up the deal earlier?

Though I didn't start switching off Telecube and looking for this deal until this moment.

From what I've seen ABB reps on Whirlpool have been quite receptive of customers asking for coupons being applied after the fact, try contacting ABB.

No clue where you’re looking, but they’re the exact opposite (on WP and here).

    • Yeah forget trying to get this offer if you've already signed up. Ran through the same scenario myself a month ago

    is that his refferal link?

    • edited - comment out of context now.

      • Yeah noticed the link seems to be his referral?

        • Oh sorry I didn't realise that was his referral link. Do you think I should vote to close this deal then?

        • @spb: if following scrimshaws comment then it shouldn’t be a referral as only he would get free month. But his post suggests whoever signs up gets free month.

        • @Jimmy007: Well someone reported it. I suppose admins will deal with it and hopefully be forgiving on me for an honest mistake.

        • +4

          @Jimmy007:

We tested it, looks all good, the first month free shows at checkout:

          Promo / Referral
          First Month Free

He must have some arrangement with AB to promote for them with a personalised code, not a referral code where only referrer gets 1 month free.

Don't stress OP, you hadn't done anything wrong in any case, thanks for sharing it.

    • I didn't know about the referral until after I signed up. The conditions say not to game the system and they consider posting referral codes on public forums as gaming the system so they might users who post referral codes on OzBargain.

I suppose this code is here for prosterity in case someone doesn't know anyone on ABB already and wants a month free. Feel free to edit this deal or post a new deal about the referral code though. More deals can never hurt.

  • Just signed up ABB today from TC. Anyone has any idea if I call to cancel tomorrow and sign up again using this link, would I still be able to get the first month free as new sign up?

    • +1

I was exactly in your position I talked to customer service and asked them and they applied code in my account and I got one month free.hope you can get first month free too.

      • Thanks, mate. Would call them tomorrow then.

        • Just spoke to ABB and they said the code has expired. So no free first month.

  • I signed up 2 weeks ago and said a competitor was offering the first month free (completely made that up on the spot) and the rep said no problems.

  • Thanks op. I can confirm it works. I signed up last night. And I got a email soon after saying first month free.

I was kicking myself because I was in the process of moving to my new place which had FTTP installed and didn't want to sign up to the $20 off for first 6 month deal yet….. decided to check ozbargain one more time last night and very happy as this is next best thing to that deal :)

Bought a asus rt-ac68u router too. All in time for the weekend :D

  • I might have to look into this myself. I finally have an estimated connection date for the NBN of 9 Nov. I will talk to them this afternoon to find out if this applies for Pre-orders

  • n/m

  • Just tried to sign up, bajopants code has expired.

    • Ditto. Great timing eh, bleh.

Following through all the links, it looks like Bajo organised/posted this referral back in May.

I bet after posting here ABB got an influx and cut the deal off!

    • The referral is still being advertised on his twitch channel. It's been there for a good year I think, which is strange why it suddenly isn't working

    • oh wow I'm glad I used the code friday because I didn't want my connection to be cut off over the weekend..

All these people who moved over like to whinge about not getting discount, modems, months free. Through ozbargain posts you all knew they have these offers repeatedly and all you had to do was wait. No point bitching about making the wrong decision when you knew better.

Different if you were on telecube and couldn't wait, sure. But you still got a discount code.

  • I just signed up with Exetel. Big let down from Telecube 😔

    • I understand what you mean. It was good at the start then it all sort of fell apart.

  • Update: They called me up on the details I left when trying to sign up (as per above I tried to sign up with the code but it had expired).

    They honoured the deal!

Plus I spoke to the guy and asked straight up… any dramas with signing up to the fastest plan available (250 download speed) during the free month and then before the first month is over, dropping it down to the normal 100? Nope!

Ka-ching! I want to see just how fast this bad boy can go! No way I can afford to stay on it, but lets see!

And just for a bit of extra info, like the old copper lines to your house in the 'olden days' theres two NBN lines into your house.
What they do is enable their connection on the second line, without disconnecting the first.
You have to call and disconnect the 1st line when the 2nd is up and running.

I'm churning from Internode so it'll be interesting to compare my speeds at a given time of day (will delay the Internode disconnection a few days so I can trial the new one… 3 days cooling off).

Considering you’re able to get the 250/100 plan, I’m assuming you’re on FTTP. So you can actually have 4 independent connections through the 4xUNI-D ports. All new connections will be providisoned on the next available UNI-D port unless you specifically ask for it to be on your current one.

The other fixed line plans (FTTN/B/C & HFC) (generally) don’t allow 2 connections at the same premise unless you pay the $300 one time connection fee for the second line to be installed.

      • Holy crap dude… you lost me at 4xUNI-D :).

Yep, I'm in a new area with FTTP. How do I know if I have 4 though?
You're right about provisioning on the "next available port", that's exactly what the guy said.

Yep, I'm in a new area with FTTP. How do I know if I have 4 though?

All FTTP connections have 4 UNI-D sockets as standard.

        • +1

          😂😂😂

Yeah you’re one of the lucky ones. Every NBN FTTP NTD has 4xUNI-D (data) and 2xUNI-V (voice) ports. You’ll see them labelled when you take the cover off :-)

          @Porthos:

          Yep! I'm already connected!
They sorted it out in a couple of hours… on a Saturday evening.

Not bad Aussie, not bad at all.
