I've got eBay Plus and just received a similar offer, but for 20 items.

Seems targeted to me: Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    Worked. Thanks OP

Is this deal retroactive? Already listed 10 items on ebay before accepting this deal. To qualify for the free listing and no fees should I just cancel all my active selling item and relist them again?

It's not retroactive….but yes, cancel all listings, and then hit relist. I do this all the time.

      Ebay is NEVER retroactive

      Cancel and relist.

  • The last 2 times I've sold something I've forgotten to check my eBay offers first.
Lost about $50 in eBay fees.
I'll hand my OZB card in now.

I try to hold off on selling anything until an offer comes round. eBay final value fees have more than doubled since I made an account, it's ridiculous.

      • Yep. Last time I vowed never to sell anything on eBay again, but they've gone for good money so I give into temptation.

At the very least just wait for the $1 Sunday Promo. There is no reason to pay more than $1 in this day and age (unless of course, you need the cash urgently).

      • It really depends on what you're selling and how quickly you need it gone/want the money. You can always work out how much you want to receive, then add eBay/PayPal/shipping fees on top, and put it up as a BIN listing and just wait. Often people will pay a little more to be able to make an immediate purchase rather than wait for an auction to count down.

  • What happens when your item doesn't sell and you have to relist it. Does it mean you lose the offer in the process?

  • Just a heads up to everyone, eBay's terms states "Pay no Insertion Fees or Final Value Fees for 10 items you list and make available for purchase in a single category during the Promotion Period". If you're selling something make sure it's all in the same category (i.e - shoes and pants are two different categories). Don't get caught out!

    • So do they go by the category you choose on your first item listed? Or the category in the item that is sold first?

      • I'm not sure about that, if anyone could confirm how the process works I would like to know as well!

I doubt that's what the condition means, as that would be overly restrictive and misleading. I think it just means that the promotion doesn't apply if you list the same item in two categories.

      • I sold two items (automotive parts thinking it was the same category, however they were in different subcategories) on the $1 Sunday promo and the second item I sold was charged a final sale fee of 10.9%.

I also confirmed this with the ebay rep on chat that the final subcategory has to to be the same. It's the ambiguous wording in the terms and conditions that will catch people out.

Your interpretation is wrong. It's simply saying that each item can only be listed in a single category. You can have 10 items in 10 different categories. But if you select a second category for a single item listing (e.g. a PS game in both the games and consoles category) that item won't be included in the offer, and you'll pay the normal fees.

EDIT: You could technically list the same item twice in two different categories if you really wanted to have it showing in multiple categories, but you'd need to make the listing different enough from each other that eBay didn't pick them up as duplicate listings, and when one sells you'd want to quickly cancel the other listing (unless of course you have multiple identical items to sell). And this would of course use up two of your free listings.

It's also worth noting that if you list something and it doesn't have any bids (or is BIN) you can completely edit the listing later on, to make it a different item in a different category for a different price etc etc.

      • I think I may have interpreted it wrong then, not sure if the eBay rep I was chatting to was also confused.

I'll list more items for sale with this promo in different categories and see what the outcome is, if they still slug me a fee then I'm just going to set my items on fire before I even think of putting it on scumtree.

  • Worked! Thanks OP
