Xbox One X and NBA 2K19 $299 (When you Trade in Xbox One S + 2 Games) @ EB Games

1690

Just got an email with this offer.

I just upgraded to an Xbox One X recently and this looks like a good deal to me.

Terms thanks to star64 :
Xbox One X trade offer: EB Trade policy applies. Console must be working and complete. 2 games refer to Xbox One games, must be in resalable condition. Cannot be combined with any other offers. Offer expires 22 Sept 2018. Strictly while stocks last. See staff for details.

According to some users and to EB Games on Twitter, you can also trade in an original Xbox One X. Contact your local store and depending on the size of the hard drive in the console, EB Games will give you a similar deal but for a higher price.

Mod: Selling isn't permitted in comments. Use the classifieds.

  • Wowwwww Nice. :)

  • better than the previous trade xbox one + 2 games but still pay 500.

  • +69

That moment when I saw Xbox One X for $299.. without reading on :/

    • I was in the same boat, then šŸ™ still good value though

  • +3

They could keep NBA, and take another 50 off me, if they were willing to take my OG 'Bone in.

Good deal nonetheless, but a bit bummed it won't apply to me.

    • +2

Flog it on ebay with their current "no listing fee" promotion

    • +1

Someone commented recently saying they traded their OG Xbox One and paid 50 bucks more.
Give your local EB a call!

      • Not sure if you're (profanity) with me or not, but bugger it, I'll give them a go tomorrow anyway. Gonna see a movie with the missus in the arvo, if they allow it, she can have her stupid date night, and I can have my glorious Xbox One X.

  • Anyone know if the EB world bonus trade in credit would apply here? It's very tempting if it does.

    • +1

      No it doesnt

    • Mine did. Give it a go and ask your local store.

    • I got bonus credit when I did an original One towards a One S two years ago.

If it does coun't I'd love to hear what the cost comes out to for a Lvl 4.

    • I just gave them a call, seems like the trade in bonus doesn't apply. Oh well, I didn't need it anyway.

      • I traded today, and bonus level was applied to pay off the $299 .
ie. Picked up 2 xbox one games from CEX Entertainment Exchange store ($2.50 and $3.50) , used these 2 cheap games plus my xbox one x and 1 controller for the special promo offer.
Had $299 owing, which I bought down using trades (plus 10% as I am on that bonus level) .

        • Why would you trade your Xbox one x for another Xbox one x? Is yours faulty?

        • @wtfnodeal: Traded the s, for the x .
They should make better names for them, definitely can get confusing.

  • +1

Never done any EB trading, is it any two Xbox One games or is there usually a list of games they accept?

    • +1

Any two Xbox One games will do

      • +2

Thanks, Halo MCC and an unopened copy of the Elder Scrolls will finally be of use.

      • +4

If thats so just a couple of these

        • That's what I did last time, grabbed the cheapest 2 games they had(which was destiny for $7 at the time)

      • Actually any 2 ps4 games is acceptable also (was told by EB store) .
If you have a CEX store nearby, and have no 2 games you wish to part with, then CEX have xbox one games starting at about $1.50 (for say old FIFA or old NBA 2k14 etc) .
Can search online at webuy.com and filter search to store specific. Or delivery is $3 per item, which I guess isnt too bad, instead of trading a valuable title in your collection which you like.

  • +6

Does anyone know if there is a trade in promotion for the original Xbox One?

    • I called earlier.. doesn't include the OG xbox unfortunately :(

      • Really? I enquired this morning and they said I can get the deal for $339 with a 1TB model.

  • -2

Doesn't seem to be a good deal to me….
Crap game, and $300 more over the Xbone S… pfft

    • +7

It's absolutely worth $300 over the XB1S IMO.

      • +5

Curious as to what makes you say that? $300 is a lot of money.

        • +2

The much faster load times, the better textures, the better distance of drawing, the 4K res (if you have a 4k tv) or the supersampling (if you have a 1080p tv), how silent it is, the increased and stable frame rates, the future games enhanced for it and the future ahead of the console.

I'm actually so in love with the machine.

        • +8

@PabloVicioso: Yep, its the best console by a mile.

        • +4

@Burnertoasty: PS4 Pro is the best console by miles.

        • +8

@PabloVicioso: I have both XB1S and XB1X. XB1X is good, but it is not that great. Sure, if you have a 4K TV then it makes sense. Better textures and draw distance - true, but honestly, on 1080p, it isn't that big of a deal. "Much" faster load time is just not true. It still pretty much loads one game at a time and the UI can still feel laggy at times (sloppy Microsoft).

Deep down, it is pretty much RX580 equivalent. So the "4K" is not to PC's ultra settings. As for PS4 Pro fanboys (I own a PS4 Pro), the games are better, but the console… honestly, (PS4 Pro) it's not the best console.

        • +17

I reckon for anyone who already has an older xbox one, it's better to spend the $300 on a PS4 or a Switch, to play the exclusives.

        • +1

@netsurfer: what do you mean the load time is not much faster? I play Overwatch and load into the character selection screen 5 or 6 seconds before the rest of the users. On Battlefield it's the same thing.

          Check this out too:

          https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/7aj0g1/gta_v_load_ā€¦

        • +10

@PabloVicioso: the two games you just said you load faster in is rather pointless when you have to wait for everyone else to play anyway…

        • +1

@jno: On Overwatch it matters because you get to pick the character before anyone else and it's first come first served.

On every campaign game the loading screens are way shorter too.

        • +3

@PabloVicioso: If load time is such a big deal, then get an SSD. "Way" shorter to me means 2X-3X faster on every game and that's certainly not the case.

The cheapest OZB deal for XB1S was $169. Adding $299 to it makes it $468 in total. So the question is whether it is worth it? If you don't have a 4K TV or HDR, then you really need to think about it. If you do have a 4K TV/display or HDR, then it is worth considering. However, if you see XB1 mainly as a console to play games cheaply (i.e. GamePass), then I am not so sure XB1X is good value for money.

        • -1

          @tempura: Based on what?

        • going from 900p/1080p to native 4K 30fps / 60fps in some games massive difference.

        • @netsurfer: Each to their own. I have a 1080p monitor and upgraded from S to X about a week ago. The upgrade is so notable I would never go back!

        • @WinstonWithAY: Game exclusives surely, hardware wise, it isn't.

        • @netsurfer: Not likely to get that $169 deal anytime soon.

        • +4

@PabloVicioso: Iā€™m sure the X is better, I just canā€™t justify the double cost.

        • @netsurfer:

Have none of these consoles or the time to play them but + for what seems a fair assessment.

        • +1

@PabloVicioso: The main concern is you are over-hyping it too much, especially for people with 1080p screens. Here are some of the reasons:

          • On 1080p, even with SS, the texture details advantage is reduced. Also, item details are reduced (i.e. background trees, foliage). HUD/text clarity advantage reduced. Hence, the texture details and draw distance advantages are handicapped on 1080p. Not to mention that even on a 4K screen, those pluses aren't THAT huge (especially when you are busy playing the game).
          • On a game which supports 1080p@60fps, then yes, the advantage is something someone on 1080p can enjoy.
          • 1080p TVs most likely do not have HDR.
          • How about the increased game size? It's not all good news but zero bad news.

If you are a big fan of XB1 games, then the more than double price could certainly be worth it. But if you are not and you don't have a 4K TV, then you really want to think twice. Have realistic expectations though.

        • -1

          @netsurfer:
          Its actually slightly above a 1070 equivalent…

        • @MEGASERVE: It's RX580 equivalent. Slightly above a 1070? That's just too much fanboy. I own one and it's definitely not a 1070 equivalent. I'd rather game on a 1070.

        • @netsurfer:
Im not over-hyping anythingb bro.If I was talking based on info I have read on the internet or experience from others, maybe I'd agree. But I upgraded myself after having the S for almost two years. I dont know how many games youve tried on both consoles to say that. But I have tested my new Xbox One X on about 20 games now that I also played on my XB1S. I have tried AC Origins, Doom, GTAV, Overwatch, Fortnite, Dishonored 2, Battlefield 1, FIFA18, Gears of War 4 and Prey among many others. There IS a very noticeable difference in graphics, load times and fps. The biggest difference to me was on AC Origins: the game runs pretty bad on XB1s compared to XB1.

There's other things that are good news too. The frame rates for example. Probably half of the games on console (PS4, XB1) drop frames per second when theres lot of stuff on screen. If you care about frames being stable for competitive reasons, or if you just cant stand games dropping frames at all even in single player, then the difference is massively appreciated.

Also the difference IS huge on some games. PUBG for example. There's cases where you cant spot enemies on Xbox One S on the distance but you can on XB1X.

And finally theres the fact that its simply the most powerful console in the world and future games will keep being enhanced and better for it. So I know I will have the best experience any user can have in a AAA game like RDR2. There's no price in that.

So I stand my personal and humble opinion from my own experience.
WORTH EVERY DOLLAR in a $300 upgrade.

        • +4

@PabloVicioso: I tried a few games too and I tried 1080p (on 4K) vs 4K as well. Quite a number of those games you mentioned, I don't agree the difference is that huge. PUBG, honestly, it is best played on PC because it is CPU dependent.

It really depends on whether the so called XB exclusives mean a lot to you or not. I have my XB1X running in 4K and to date, I don't believe it is money well spent (even if it is $500). My issue is mainly the games. Games I played on XB1S, I am not going to replay them on XB1X. BTW, I do have PS4 Pro and a decent PC so I do compare XB1X to them.

So I know I will have the best experience any user can have in a AAA game like RDR2. There's no price in that.

It is well known what reviewers truly feel about Microsoft's slogan: "Games play best on Xbox One". As much as I really wish that is true, they/we all know games play best on a high end PC. That's another reason not to over-hype XB1X.

        • +3

@PabloVicioso: I also don't agree with you. I have a one X and an OG one. unless you put them side by side and look for specifics your gaming experience isn't worth the extra $300, that $300 can go on another console like a Switch or something. I honestly dont see any value in the one x over the one s. and i have a 4k tv and all that jazz.

Im with netsurfer on this one, unless you just want to claim you have the best of the best or want the little extra draw distance, its not worth the money. (IMO)
Furthermore all microsoft systems lag. so if you are thinking the UI experience is any better on the One X, you will be disappointed.

        • @netsurfer:

As much as I really wish that is true, they/we all know games play best on a high end PC

That's true to some extent. Except no matter how high end you PC is, you cant play Red Dead Redemption 2 or other games that are just not released for PC.

        • +1

          @maverickjohn:

That's fair enough. Everyone has different opinions and arguments.

        • @PabloVicioso: Yeah, but that's picking that game on purpose isn't it? There is also the annoying time limited PS4 exclusive rubbish.

maverickjohn and I both have 4K setup. We have the same conclusion. He sums it up pretty well.

  • Do you have to hand in the Xbox One S Controller?

    • I also would like to know this!

    • +4

      From their trading pages:

To trade a complete console, it also needs to include:
      1 x Xbox One Controller
      1 x HDMI cable
      1 x Power cable

      • So that's all you need, no box or manuals required?

And it can be any HDMI?

        Anyone done this?

    • Doesn't have to be the official controller, can be a wired third-party one too.

However, trading in without any controller deducts $60 fro the trade value and would (most likely) void the promo.

  • +2

That's a (profanity) good deal. The X is amazing. I've got an X and an S, and I'm seriously considering trading in the S to have 2 Xs.

    • +5

      1 for each hand?

    • twice the power!

  • X box one S 500G will they accept or it should be 1TB version for the trade in

    • Good question. There's nothing regarding that in the email I got, but I would be shocked if its only the 1tb Xb1s version, because that version is fairly new.

  • Is it the 1TB version?

    • You mean the XB1S?

      • +3

Yeah for trade in. I've currently got a 1TB. If this offers for 500gb trade in, I'm expecting extra discount.

  • +3

I wonder if i should trade in my unopened Minecraft One S console from the Amazon daily deal $169.

    • Do it!

    • -1

It is $445 at Amazon AU now you probably can try to sell it on Gumtree for $300 or something.

      • This is exactly what you shouldn't do.
Gumtree is full of scammers and time wasters at the best of times (also scabs) so selling it for $300 is laughable. $199 might be able to.

        • +3

          post $300, get $200 offer.
          post $200, get $100 offer

        • +1

Not sure about NSW but in WA selling on gumtree is ok as I have sold more than 20 items over 5 years time and only came across no show twice. Yeah a lot of low ball offers which you can simply ignore them.

        • +1

Gumtree is full of scammers and time wasters at the best of times (also scabs)

I'm not on there all that often.

  • Anyone know if I have to trade in an XB1S 1TB? or can it be the 500gb model

  • Just noticed the game is digital, might be harder to sell the game.

  • I have a Xbox One S Minecraft edition unopened I bought for $200. Would this qualify?

    • +1

The console qualifies for sure. I assume there is a physical game (that counts as 1 game). EB don't accept digital games so you will need another game.

Might as well take the digital game voucher out, the 1 month XBLive Gold voucher and GamePass voucher out before trading the console in.

      • Leave them in! Be awesome for the next buyer. ;)

        • +3

          Keep them.

Younger brother used to manage a few stores, they threw them out or kept them for themselves.

  • +1

    Terms from the email:
Xbox One X trade offer: EB Trade policy applies. Console must be working and complete. 2 games refer to Xbox One games, must be in resalable condition. Cannot be combined with any other offers. Offer expires 22 Sept 2018. Strictly while stocks last. See staff for details
So looks like 500GB Xbox One can be traded, also any Xbox One game.

    • I think the rules could be bent to include two PS4 games or 1 XB1 game + 1 PS4 game or two XB1 games.

  • Might be a stupid question but the $299 is the final price you pay right? Because you are trading towards this deal you won't get trade in value for the games come off the $299?

    • +1

Yes, basically, an XB1S 512GB will only get you around $130 from EB Games (before your EB world level bonus). Then you add the two games, it probably will be way below the required amount to offset the XB1X EB RRP. The staff will then apply a special code to cover the difference so you only pay $299.

In the unlikely event you have an XB1S 1TB + 2 super high value games (with EB world level bonus) to completely offset the difference plus some left over bonus credit, then, you could pay less than $299 - but that's very unlikely.

  • +1

Can i trade in 2 ps4 games instead?

  • And 2 games? They must love to negotiate.

  • Also have the $200 Amazon XB1S 1TB and picked up FIFA18 for $40 at the same time

Considering whether it is worth the $300 extra to upgrade (Don't have 4K at home yet!). Also, need another game to be part of the trade in…time to look for deals on Amazon AU!

    • +3

I don't have 4k at home either and I thought the upgrade was totally worth it

      • Thanks, Titanfall 2 for $15 with my prime membership and I have the two games :)

Now to consider keeping either then plain black controller or the minecraft that came with the console.

I take it as it was a digital download game that is attached to my account, when I upgrade to the X I still have the game and have to re-download it?

        • Yeah. If you redeemed the code it will be linked to your Microsoft account. You can download it on your new Xbox. Also, check this instead of Amazon

          https://ebgames.com.au/xbox-one-229780-Skylanders-SWAP-Forceā€¦

        • +1

iceborg. On the games, I suggest use an external hard drive and copy/move them to the external hard drive. You really don't want to download them AGAIN.

If you don't have a 4K TV, then you won't get full advantages of XB1X. Value for money, XB1X is nowhere close to XB1S (even with this deal).

In your case, if you were to go through with that deal, you will only be $21 better off than me (I paid $520 for mine last year) and I am not counting the cost of your second game. Really think about whether it is a bargain before you do the trade in. The fact you cannot even find another game to trade in suggests you won't benefit much from XB1X.

        • Just an update. An OZBer reported you could trade in certain XBox One original models (but need to pay a bit more).

    • +6

I think it's better to keep your XB1S and spend the $300 on a PS4 or a Switch, to play the exclusives.

    • +1

deff worth it you'll get 1080p games no matter what, large chunk of games on the 1S don't run 1080p so you will notice the difference also the 1080p is slightly sharper because it scales down from 4k so it's ever so slightly a better picture just from that.

    • As someone else recommended, the PS4 has some very good single player exclusives of you are interested in that. Such As the recently released Spider-Man, God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted and Last of Us. If you don't like those games and you use it as a media player, upgrade to XBox One X for increased performance and quietness.

  • +5

So no love for my 'regular' xbox one console for this deal?? Keen to jump on so spewing if that's the case :(

    • Yeah Iā€™m in the same boat. Been looking at upgrading for a while but still have the OG xbone

      • I just gave my local store a call:

        • OG Xbox One 1tb: $339
        • OG Xbox One 500mb: $349

        Still not bad!

    • Same here. I still got my Xbox one from big W for $199 years ago and looking to upgrade
