    Overpriced RRP and rip-off anywhere else charging it.
    90cm quality brand rangehoods are approx. $500. Not negging because it is a bargain for this specific rangehood, but there are better quality cheaper rangehoods available for under $566.

          Rubber seal on my Bosch dryer warped. Looked like it stretched into the drum and warped with the heat. Within warranty period. Contacted Bosch to source replacement under warranty. Initial call centre operative couldn't help, only wanted to book service call. I just wanted the $30 replacement. Two days to get back to me. Next op couldn't help me, said she could only book service call. I'm not home during business hours and being home would cost me much more than $30. Also, if they attributed it to wear and tear (seldom used) or I did something wrong (not the case) I would be on the hook for service call. Escalated manager, same response.

          Adamant they could not send me replacement seal, but I could buy my own replacement seal. Genius.

          No reasoning with them and just endless illogical loop taking to them. Ended up paying for a replacement myself. Ten seconds to install. Dryer works fine. Bosch customer service can eat a fat one. Never again.

          @denz: Entirely your fault. What are they going to do, send out free parts to everyone who says they need one? They wanted to come to your home free of charge, that sounds like good service to me.

          Yeah, the crappy rubber seal was my fault. I barely use the thing and it failed. It was within warranty and I wanted a fix that helped me and was convenient to me as a customer.

          Work on your reading comprehension. They couldn't give me any assurance that I wouldn't be responsible for the cost of the service call. It also would have come at inconvenience and cost to me (time/work).

          As for your "send out free parts" argument,yeah… it was all part of my dastardly plan to acquire a stockpile of useless rubber seals free of charge.

          They're product was faulty. I had an invoice and I was within warranty.I just needed them to help me out and they couldn't.

    I bought 90cm quality Fisher and Paykel for over $1000 and its motor died recently after 34 months used. It depends on how you use it and regularly clean the oil filter. But I prefer above 80m³/hr air suction power due to asian cooking. This is only 690m³/hr which very low power in my opinion

    For Asian cooking, try Asian brand rangehood like fotile. >1000m3/hr suction. Had mine installed >3yrs and still going strong. House hardly smell when U cook.

        Can't just look at specs. You need to look at the motor and filter design.
        Asian rangehoods, like Fotile, Pacific, Meiya, etcetc usually have thinner filters and an oil drip tray.
        These rangehoods have filters which trap the oil and clogs the filters

      Must have money to burn on heating and cooling! Make sure you don't have a gas fire in the house, the fumes will get pulled down the flue.

      I have one that maxes out at 2400m3/hour.

      I can stick a magazine on it.

      Somehow manage to still smell the food and I'm not even Asian cooking.

    I bought a Schwigen silent model when I built my house and the wife wasn't impressed because everyone sees how cheap range hoods can be in the catalogues. The benefit of those models (not sure if other brands do it) is the motor is actually ducted away from the hood so even at max fan it's way more quiet than a standard hood. It didn't take long for the wife to realise it was a good idea. If you're range hood is drowning out your conversations/TV then I'd recommend something like this.

      I have a schwigen and definitely worth the investment to cut noise. Airflow is good too. The catch is for it to be quiet, you need to be able to install it with at least 4m of ducting and with a bend. If you install incorrectly it is like a jet engine. I had to get our installer to rip it out and do it again properly.

      For the amount of time the rangehood is used for noise is a little hard to justify the extra cost.

      You would be better of spending that money on the new cooktops with built in exhaust fans that suck downwards

        Depends what/how often you cook and what sort of cooktop you have/prefer. Also includes a 10 year motor warranty, so there's a fair bit of peace of mind (cheap one should last forever too). If a fan interferes with your entertainment 7 hours a week for 10 years I think it's well and truly worthwhile.

        Downdraft and things which pop up look great but I think they're form over function. Great if you don't use them much because it's a cleaner look. Depending on the style and where it's mounted it's probably not going to be as effective as an overhead.

          We have this one, from the Good Guys, it is noisy on full but it does an outstanding job at clearing smoke etc while stir frying and cooking steak. we paid $420 if I recall correctly and are very happy with it.

    Most rangehoods capacity are throttled by poor installation. It is common for builders to use 90mm pvc flexible ducting whereas most rangehoods ducting are 150mm. Always use max allowed size of semi-rigid aluminium ducting and the difference in extraction is night and day!

    You know, I bought a Smeg oven for my kitchen on the premise that it was a high end German brand. I'm very happy with the oven, it's great, and a match for my Mum's Ilve which cost 4 times as much (mine cost several thousand, hers much more). Both are better than the Gaggenau that my mother replaced with the Ilve (Gaggenua are supposed to be the Rolls Royce of ovens, having used one growing up, I don't see it). Anyway, on my trip to the UK last Xmas, I went to an appliance store, and was shocked to see that Smeg is actually a low end brand in the UK, just a step above the knock off Chinese crap you see here at Harvey Normans. Incredibly cheap compared to prices here.

    Anyway, despite the way Oven brands position themselves in different markets, I'm very happy with my Smeg, its well made, hasn't skipped a beat, cooks food well. The only thing I want is a Teppanyaki grill, but that option would have added another few grand to the price.

      We have Smeg over and electric stove. One awesome feature they have is the dial goes up to 11. This is for the stove and grill, oven is in degrees of course. It's handy when you have everything at 10 and just need a little extra.

    When it comes to cooking/kitchen appliance, the best ones are normally Chinese domestic brands, simply no compare, Rangehood if you look some Chinese brands, normally they are far more advanced in terms of suction power, oil management, self-cleaning, motor longevity, ease of use, install location etc., because all Chinese brands are made and competing in a lot tougher market with a few hundred million people use, test, complaint about these things, every single issue you might have already occurred a few million times in China, so it definitely more of proven product there.

    For cooking, as the gas regulation, so stuck with these low mj stoves and pay $$$$$ for the brand.
