Citibank Rewards Platinum - 10000 Points for 20 Months, up to 200K for $1,000 Monthly Spend (Annual Fee $49)

81

Looks to be a similar deal to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/399484, but with half the available points for monthly spend and a much lower minimum income requirement.

Citibank is currently offering up to 210,000 bonus points on its Citibank Rewards Platinum card, plus additional 10,000 bonus Citi Rewards points when you apply for the Linked Diners Club Card

Note: To get the full 200K bonus points, you'd need to pay the annual fee at least twice (given the 20 month requirement).

Citi Rewards Redemption Rates

  • Emirates Skywards: 2.5 Citi Rewards to 1 Skywards Point
  • QANTAS: 2 Citi Rewards points to 1 QFF (additional $49 annual fee with all rewards swept to QANTAS automatically)
  • Virgin: 2.5 Citi Rewards to 1 Velocity Point
  • Singapore Krisflyer: 2.5 Citi Rewards to 1 Krisflyer Point

  • Receive 10,000 bonus for every month you spend $1,000 or more on the Visa for the first 20 months from approval (200,000 maximum)
  • Apply for the Linked Diners Club Card and make your first spend to receive the additional 10,000 point bonus

2.5 Citi Bank Points = 1 Velocity Point
So 84,000 velocity points with $1,000 monthly spend for 20 months plus bonus points for Diners Card. Yeah, nah.

Thanks for that info! The conversion was what I was interested in

Thanks for that. Working on updating the first post with transfer rates.

  • Did a Balance transfer to this card last December and did the spend as well to get the bonus points (I know you shouldn't but), made a beginners mistake and made a payment before statement and it paid off part of the balance transfer instead of purchases. Their phone support sucks, I had to keep asking them to repeat and ended up just guessing what they were asking, they made my limit 29K for some reason but I was able to fix that over online chat within their online banking (which is pretty good).

My Citi debit card is great for travel but I would be wary on a Citi credit card.

Citi run the behind the scenes for the Qantas Money credit card and my experience with them via that card has been appalling.

Do any merchants still accept Diners?

    • Posh golf clubs, gentlemen's establishments, Harvey Norman.

Supermarkets do too but you'd be better off with a Amex Plat Edge.

  • Citibank ? No Way Jose! This is $49 plus $20,000 spend for about 84,000 velocity points . You could churn 6 cards with $20,000 to get 500,000- 600,000 points. Several companies are offering $0 annual fee but factor say $250 per card and you are about -$3,500 to -$3,800 behind on this deal with annual fees accounted for. You are also dealing with Citibank.based on what my friends and family have found our policy is to avoid any cards which are HSBC/Citibank or Latitude based.
