Good deal..if you like a rain fest. dont forget to pack ur dingy

    • funny you should say that, it seems to rain or be 40C whenever I go up to Queensland.

But I fondly recall many a delightful trip to the Mirage on the Gold Coast stretching back to around when Mr Skase owned it (or at least his lenders did) … decadent luxury … and a great value Sunday Seafood buffet :)

We'll have fun whatever the weather!

      • it seems to rain or be 40C whenever I go up to Queensland.

or both at the same time…

        • QLD is a big place. Parts of it have some of the highest rainfall in the country, other parts the lowest. Around SE QLD we have had one the mildest summers in a long time—also wettest. Complete opposite to the year before. Though going to be a hot autumn apparently.

And yes, Port Douglas is in a region with very high annual rainfall—so don't bother going to North/Far-North QLD if you are adverse to a drop of water. But you will be missing something extraordinary.

Last time I was in Melbourne it was at least 40C—Jan 2009 heatwave.

        • might be hoping for a cold buffet then :)

    • dinghy

actually April till September is the dry season up there our summer in the south is their wet season so this is a great price for their high season as in the wet not only is it raining and hot but you cannot go in the ocean because jelly fish crocs and irracangie

they have plenty of pools up there though and awesome swimming holes the rain forest is beautiful and the reef is right there.

I have not stayed at this hotel but drove by it and it looked good also has a golf course. other hotels i would recommend is the shan grila in cairns $150- $300 pn stay away from the mantra hotels they are a bit of a rip off and are no where near as good as they appear to be well the one at palm cove was not.

      good deal anyway

  • Update: Easter's gone … but most other dates still available.
