No Annual Fee Jetstar Mastercard Classic & $100 Flight Voucher ($49.99 Club Jetstar Annual Membership Req'd, Waived for 1 Year)

170

As far as I know, this is the first time that the classic version of the Jetstar Mastercard has been offered at no ongoing annual fee. The earn rate is not as good as the Platinum version of the card, but the lack of fees makes this a great deal for earning both Jetstar Dollars (1 per $100 spent) and Qantas FF points (0.5 point for $1 spent). Please note: this deal is only available to new customers who must spend $1,000 on eligible purchases on their card within 60 days of card approval. Additional cards attract $9 annual fee.

Conditions:
¹For new applicants who are approved between 12:01am AEST 3 September 2018 and 11.59pm AEST 28 September 2018 and spend $1,000 on eligible purchases on their card within 60 days of card approval. Terms and conditions, card fees, interest rates apply. Club Jetstar joining and membership fees may apply, click here for more details. Macquarie Bank Limited Australian Credit Licence 237502 is the issuer of the Jetstar MasterCard.

³Annual card fee waived on Jetstar Classic Mastercard only. $169 annual card fee applies for Jetstar Platinum Mastercard. **^A Club Jetstar annual membership fee of AUD $49.99 will be charged at the end of the 12 month offer and ongoing every 12 months thereafter.

If you no longer want to be a member of Club Jetstar, you can deactivate your account. It will be effective immediately and no refunds will be issued.

I guess you need to make this decision based on your specific circumstances. I applied and got an instant approval. I was looking to complement my Amex Platinum Edge card, which is a really great card overall, but unfortunately has a very poor earn rates for utilities and insurance, and is not accepted in many places. No annual fee made and the additional voucher made this a very appealing offer.

I am happy with the ANZ adventures to compliment my AMEX

      • Yeah that's the combination I'm using, works really well and the ANZ bonus points mall is decent too.

    Beware with their trick.
    1. After getting Jetstar Mastercard Classic
    2. they will send you offer a platinum card with higher interest rate and annual fee.
    3. If you have online login account, you will be asked to Activate card (Platinum) forever and hoping you will accidentally hit Activation button.

    • Exactly the same happened to me

Macquarie Bank….is the issuer of the Jetstar MasterCard.

MacBank? No Thanks. You'll be scammed into fees

    • Do you know how to avoid this problem? For example, is it possible to activate the classic card via phone ?

  • I avoid all credit cards like the plague. Might be useful to some people.

Used with restraint they are a must have these days.

Issued by Macquarie bank, incredible amount of hidden fees for everything possible.

Starting with commission for foreign point of sale if point of sale located overseas even for physical businesses in Australia in AUD transactions. To incredible ATM fees with instant 7,5$ charge for getting 20$.

They managed to send me used jetstar voucher code and takes one month to fix.

Customer service keeps ringing from unknown numbers and countries over every spam they send.

  • No annual fee on cc but $50 year club jetstar annual membership is mandatory ??
(yeah, i know the first yr is free)

    • From their terms and conditions, it looks like it can be cancelled at any time. I guess that’s a bit of hassle, though.
      How to cancel your auto-renewal

If you want to opt out of auto-renewing your Club Jetstar membership, just follow these steps:

log in to your Club Jetstar account
      select Club Jetstar settings
click ‘Edit’ under the Club Jetstar Renewal section
select ‘Do not auto-renew my membership’ and save changes.

How to deactivate your Club Jetstar membership

If you no longer want to be a member of Club Jetstar, you can deactivate your account. It will be effective immediately and no refunds will be issued.

      Here’s how:

log in to your Club Jetstar account
      select Club Jetstar settings
click on ‘Deactivate your Club Jetstar membership’.

      • If you deactivate club jetstar do you lose the no annual fee offer?

        • Based on the content of their conditions, it doesn’t seem so. The way I read it, is that there will be a fee for keeping the Club Jetstar membership, beyond the initial 12 months. As the program is government by its specific conditions, which do not make it mandatory, it will be possible to unenroll from it.

          Can anyone else confirm this?

There is an ongoing membership fee of $49.99 thereafter. See the Club Jetstar terms and conditions for more details. Both the joining fee and the annual membership fee are non-refundable.

Please note that the Finder offer has an ongoing annual card fee, after the first year which is free.

    • $100 travel voucher, 20K Qantas Points, free access to Club Jetstar for a year, no annual fee.

What am I missing here? This has to be a no-brainer!

EDIT - they ditched the bonus Qantas points?
