120

I have been looking for a good gaming laptop and this caught my eye, Nothing special in performance when comparing with competitors but it does feature a USB Type-C port that supports thunderbolt 3 which is a huge thing if you want to use a full size external GPU.

I did manage to get the price down to $1959.75 in person but your mileage may very.

      They're very different laptops.

Both the processor and graphics card are around 50% faster in the G7 than the Dell 7567 you linked above.

Arguably not a better deal but there is cheaper GTX 1060 laptops on the market. Just none (that I know of) that support Thunderbolt 3.

      • What is so special about thunderbolt 3 I see it flashed around everywhere but still don't know its main use case or feature?

Like it would not be worth attaching an eGPU to this laptop and external drives use usb 3.0 or am I missing something.

        • Depends on use case, I will be using it with my 1080 and VR for a more portable solution. (I do fly in fly out work).

        • @JustASmoothSkin: oh nice so will the 1080 or VR be connected to the TB3 in this scenario?

I can see the potential and positives for that now.

Will the laptop be like in a bag for a full portable VR solution or on a desk or table somewhere I have seen some of the fully portable laptop strapped to chest or bag situations that look like a really good for now portable full VR scenario setup layout.

  • Great Laptop, only downfall is it’s screen, for specs like this it would be nice to have 1440p. I know personally if the screen is like the ones on the 7000 series, they are very underwhelming. I would definitely want to see it before investing.

    • Yeah for 1999 AUD we are nearing GTX 1070 territory and not the lower powered Max Q variant.. we are talking full desktop 1070 performance in a laptop form factor.

Screen resolution might still be 1080p though but have seen a 1070 16gb ram with 1440p screen from America before.. including shipping.. was very tempting.

Honestly second hand US laptop/gpu/cpu/ram/ssd/hdd market is very good right now if you can fly it across the pacific ocean in your carry on.

Saw some crazy GTX 1080 deals with 4k screens around 3000 AUD plus shipping total few months ago.. some even had 32-64gb of ram.. crazy prices but usually had hardly any hard drive/ssd space but some did surprise me with some 2TB ssd's crazy prices man crazy prices man.

      • Damn wish I saw those, right now most 1080 deals I can finds near the $4000 mark and most 1070 deals are around $2700.

        • Yeah but these had no warranty and had American plugs so there is a bit of convenience and extra written required there which could offset the savings..

Luxury and convenience was not factored in those equations so I assumed those hunting it would know about it already.

But feel free to have a look people selling laptops everyday.

    • Wont even be able to get 60fps on 1440p. Dreaming.

      • Plays my vive pretty smooth, yet to see it stutter in gorn or beat saber.

  • Looks like this deal has finished :(
