Not really a great deal considering Tiger airlines will fly you there for $30 one-way… i would rather get there in 1hr than sit on a ship and paying for over-priced items for 10hrs or however long it takes to get there.

    • True if you just want to get from A to B, but some people with lots of free time like to go by ship, that's all.

      • plus you can take your car with you

        • Agree that cheaper if you fly, but can you take your own car/caravan on a Tiger airlines ?

A friend used it once, but probably due to seasick, he said with the current cheap airfares, next time he'll let it carry his car and catch a plane instead.

      • True, but i still can't imagine why… #1 the deal is only limited to Day travel (so you waste a full-day in Tas and have to pay accomodation there), #2 you have to pay to bring your car i think $60 each-way when you can just rent a car there for $33 a day, #3 there really isnt anything to see but open blue waters and you'll risk getting sea sick with no where to go, #4 you have to pay $7 for a cheeseburger or $5 for a gatorade or something like that.

Still can't see how this would be a bargain especially when limited to travel between March 3rd to 21st. Must be that they have hardly any bookings during this period.

        • Some people don't get seasick. And some people panic over flying.

You've probably guessed right about the low season.

I'm not in the vicinity for this deal anyway.

Im just saying to me this isnt a bargain at all. Its saying Hilton hotels have 50% off their rack rates! Instead of paying the rack rate of $800 a night its now only $400! bargain? Not!

We all know rack rates are over inflated much the same as spirit of tasmania prices. Doubt they make much profit except from convincing schools to hold camps there and providing discounts to hundreds of students/teachers.

Agree with your panic over flying comment though… then again who would want to go to Tas also? lol… there's a reason why domestic airflights are always the cheapest to TAS than anywhere else in this country.

    • But that's a different argument. Hilton have competition from other hotels so you could comment that you would rather stay at the say Mercure. AFAIK SoT has the monopoly on this sea route, not that it's an enviable thing, given the competition from air travel. I'd say just ignore this offer or put in your 2c if it doesn't suit you and it will just fade away. Not many people are likely to take this offer anyway.
