"Panadol Children 7+ Years Strawberry Tablets"

Wrong on so many levels :-( I thought we'd driven out this stupidity driven by corporate greed in the 1960s. Medicine <> "sweeties", however paracetamol 250mg = paracetamol 250mg = paracetamol 250mg regardless of the label

    • Yep, 25% more for 65% less at Woolies

      TLDR: 20 parcetamol tablets 70c

        panamax 100pk 500mg $0.69 at chemist warehouse.

    • They are probably working on a vaped version.

    • Gotta teach 'em young. Just like taking them to pubs and clubs and make it like a night out for them. What's happening in this country of ours? Sheesh.

At least the strawberry ones don't contain needles! Too soon…..?

Literally looked at this post to see if anyone mentioned needles….

      • I was looking for needles and found this post.

In the old days, before there were Panadol for Children products, my parents use to just use a knife to half or quarter a normal panadol tablet depending on dosage required. Then grind the tablet up into powder form and I would put the powder in my mouth and drink some water to wash it down. Basic maths required though and you probably don't need to get panadol for a while with this deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/400805

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. Please do not try this at home without professional advice.

    • Same for my parents, except we were obviously spoilt - the crushed powder was mixed with a spoon of honey.

      • I got it with some sugar sometimes. Lol.

    • Yes, basic maths required, and that's exactly why it's now safer to use child-size doses that (hopefully) all parents can understand (or blindly follow). Parents shouldn't require a calculator to administer Panadol.

      • You are right. If you want to avoid basic maths, you have the option to buy Panadol for Children products. But, if you are up for saving some money and is able to do basic maths, I don't see why not just buy 100 of the normal 500mg tablets for less than $1. :)

    • i cut tablets. you just need to use the blade right near the handle and they split apart cleanly and easily

i was under the impression that, in general, crushing tablets was a no no, because some types of tablets require a timed release. probably doesn't matter for paracetamol

      • I don't do it now for my own children. I would still do it for them if it was up to me, but my wife says no, and I have to respect that, since she is half of the parental committee.

All you guys are arguing about the dose and cost per dose but for me it’s all about the administration. I can remember how foul those crushed up tablets were (no matter how you try to disguise it) whereas kids will now happily take the children’s syrup from a syringe relatively happily. It costs a lot more but it’s worth it for me.

My kids love these, I give them as treats if they have been good.

Should pick some more up then.
