Apple iPad Mini 4 Wi-Fi 128GB Space Grey/Gold $477 @ Officeworks

170

Yes it's old… but this still seems like a decent deal for 128GB and Aussie stock.

Apple still selling this little guy for $579.

They do Afterpay too, which is nice :)

This is a great tablet but it is getting a bit long in the tooth and there, hopefully, should be some new iPads out in October. However, that is a good price for something with a decent amount of memory and, particularly, if you want the smaller footprint. My suspicion is these will dissappear when the new Ipads are released.

Love my mini 4. Feels much better now it’s on iOS12 too!

this! our mini was feeling pretty old but with ios12, definitely an improvement. i've heard they're discontinuing the mini which is a shame as it's a good size.

    • My volume buttons stopped working :( but thank god for control panel volume slider! I'm looking forward to upgrading to ios12

    • Been hearing about rumored updates to Mini line for the past 2 years now, and nothing happened. To me it sounds like Mini 4 is still making them good money, and it would have to be for the price they charge on such dated hardware. Which means there's little need to update the line. They'd be offering an updated processor for the same price as they are selling a 4 year old processor. They don't see a compelling need to do that. If people don't want to buy the Mini 4 because it's too old and expensive, they'll just buy a Pro or 9.7 instead and Apple will still be happy either way.

      • The mini was positioned by Apple as a cheaper alternative, the mantle of which is now taken by the “iPad”. In Apple’s mind it’s now a redundant product, leaving us who actually prefer the form factor in the lurch. It’s sadly unlikely to be updated. In the meantime they are happy to rip us off with pricing above the standard iPad.

Similar story to the iPhone SE which has just been killed. I would have paid $1000+ for an SE sized XR, but instead they have a mindset of small==cheap. They’re not interested in cheap so they made a weird inbetween-yet-oversized thing that will just make people question why they would pay the extra $400 for the near-identical-yet-smaller XS.

All Apple are achieving at the moment with their crazy pricing is making people like their old stuff better. That stuff effectively costs nothing because you already bought it.

$2000 vs $0, the answer is pretty clear, at least for anyone not made of money. .

        • I think the trend has been to move away from small screens. No one else makes SE sized phones anymore. It's hard to click on links in web pages without fat fingering something else.

I agree that XR is a rip off though.

        • @lostn: I have the advantage of little fingers :) (I'm female so I don't have the hangups that Trump does about his tiny hands).

The reason I bought this, rather than the 9.7 version, was it fits nicely in my small crumpler bag and is easy to handle on the tram. I use my ipad a lot more than my phone; I have an iphone 6 plus and the screen is just too small for games, email etc. Once you get used to the screen size of the iPad mini it isn't really a problem for most things. I would really love the same form factor but with minimal edging, however, I suspect they won't be doing an ipad mini pro anytime soon.

I'm not going to "line up" but I will be scoping out the just released ones to see whether they are worth purchasing; I will be more interested in the new iPads out in, probably, October. I only jump when I see something that is a significant step up from the previous and nothing has yelled at me since the iPhone 6 plus/iPad Mini 4.

  • Great little device - Needed to update one of the kids original iPad minis, which can't play the latest Minecraft release - Bought one

    EDIT: AfterPay is awesome…

Have Apple given up on the Mini line? No updates in forever.

  • Thanks OP it's a great price I was about to get same model on Apple refurb for $489 so this worked out very well.

ipad 5 mini, waiting for ages

    • You and me both, I was hoping for an iPad Mini Pro full screen version. Don't think it will happen now :(

  • ipad pro mini…

    • Fingers crossed but unlikely. They killed the SE and now have starbucks size phones. Large is the smallest size.

Apparently Tim Cook is a Texan and bigger is better 😩

      • My understanding is Jobs was against the small factor for the iPads and the large factor for the phones. Happy to be corrected though :)

The Iphone Max is roughly the size of the Note 9. The iphone XS isn't massively different to an iPhone 6; it just has a lot more real estate taken up by the screen (which is what I prefer).

  • I tried price match via Harvey Norman online chat, they agreed, paid by AMEX card, so final price was $427.

  • Do you have the info on the Amex card deal?
