[Pre Order] Samsung Galaxy Watch 42/46mm Bluetooth $499/$549 (Bonus Samsung Wireless Charger Duo $149 via Samsung Pay) @ Samsung

220

Starting from today, there is a deal from Samsung Pay where it requires 2 transactions to be made for you to be able to redeem the Samsung Wireless Charger Duo alongside your purchase of the Galaxy Watch. I assume that it works like all their other promotions where a code will be generated once you completed your two transactions; code redeemable only on the Samsung AU website.

Keep in mind the Galaxy watch DOES NOT include MST (Swipe payments), but does have a larger battery (3-4 days depending on model and even more depending on usage) and better water resistance (can actually go swimming).

The Wireless Charger Duo allows you to charge your watch and phone at the same time (or 2 phones I believe); who knows where Apple's AirPower went after a year of announcing it…

Samsung Galaxy Watch 42mm Bluetooth: Link $499
Samsung Galaxy Watch 42mm LTE: Link $599
Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm Bluetooth: Link $549
Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm LTE: Link $649

Alternatively, there is also a promotion at JB Hi-Fi where you can get a $50 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card for pre-ordering: Link

Another alternative, 20% off on Samsung Education Store: Link Thanks @rosrav (May not work with Samsung Pay Promotion)

  • im looking at the Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm LTE
but it says Available on selected plans over the Telstra network only.
anyone know what plans ? im on telstra prepaid

    • I would think you will need to get one of those wearable plans for like $10-15/m like the apple watches.

I just checked the Samsung Education Store for students. You get 20% off of all Galaxy Watches if you pre-order. Not sure if the wireless charger promotion also applies. But 20% off is a great deal!

    • There is a promotional code section when you checkout on the education store! Hopefully someone checks if it works!

      • +1

I can confirm…the voucher for the dual charger doesn't work on the Education Portal. Also note that if you pre-registered on Samsung website for the Galaxy Watch you get the voucher via e-mail without having to use Samsung pay.

    • What do you need to be able to get educational pricing?

      • You need an email address that ends with '.edu'

This links to your actual Samsung account

        • thanks for this, was able to sign up with my daughters email address (primary school student) that ends with @education.nsw.gov.au.
So for anyone else that has a primary/highschool student child, don't worry about the email address not ending *.edu.au

        • @googoogaga:
          No worries!

I didn't know it worked with primary/highschool e-mail addresses! But glad it worked for you. Decent savings upfront for the watch, but you cannot claim the wireless dual charger unfortunately. The code for the charger does not stack with the 20% discount according to Samsung Online Chat.

        • @googoogaga: for some reason, the stupid verification isnt allowing my monash.edu email. It keeps asking me for a .edu.au email even though I've received the welcome email..

        • @HuskyActual:

I used my Monash uni email aswell, worked fine. Just contact Samsung live chat and they will probably help you out.

40% off via corporate program but no free charger.

      • +2

        40% is amazing..

      • @crazycs how do you access the corporate program? Also, why is the charger not included?

        Thanks!

It would depend if your company has an agreement with Samsung…but yea I checked and the price for 42/46mm w/out 4g is ~329 and with 4g is ~389.

@Jetkuma: Interesting. Wonder if you may be persuaded to order one for me ;)

      • Corporate discount doesn't stack with the samsung pay offer ? :(

  • but does have a larger battery (3-4 days depending) and better water resistance (can actually go swimming).

The Gear S3 has a 4 day battery life and a year on its still holding true to that.
Of course, it's much easier to dock it when I get home so it rarely needs to go that long..

And the Gear S3 is also waterproof (IP68) so can go for a swim with it.

    Plus it lacks MST.

Doesn't seem like any real upgrade to the Gear S3?

    • +1

IP68 is not good enough for swimming.

Galaxy Watch is 5ATM resistance (or about 50m)

      • I've never gone swimming with it on personally, but I know of others that they have gone swimming with it on with no dramas.

Also, how come the S5 was marketed as being "swimmable" then - or at least people went swimming with them?

        • Information given is incorrect.

IP rating (IPXY) is categorised as follows:

X = particle protection, scale of 1-6, 1 being large particles (hand sized), 6 being very small particles (Dust).

Y = water protection, scale of 1-8, 1 being vertical dripping water, 8 being submersion of 1.5m+ depth water for 30 minutes (Manufacturer specifies depth).

IP68 means it is dust resistant and water resistant to at least 1.5m depth for 30 minutes, i.e. general use swimming. You might not be able to wear it snorkelling, but a few laps of the pool is covered.

Note that this is also tested by static submersion, so diving into a pool with the watch on will create a different impact and might not be protected completely.

this is my dilemma. looking for an upgrade from my fitbit and the Gear S3 seems the go?

      • Are you female? The new 42mm would be worth looking at from a size perspective. I have the S3 Frontier and it's huge on my wrist.

    • No. You can use your phone to tap and pay.
