What is Quick Charge 3.0 and VoltIQ?

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology is 4x faster than conventional charging and up to 40% quicker than Quick Charge 2.0. It typically charges a compatible device from 0% to 80% in 35 minutes. It achieves this by increasing the voltage from 3.6V to 20V with 200mV increments. This technology is backwards compatible with Quick Charge 2.0 and Samsung AFC which is capable of charging a 3500mAh battery from 0% to 60% in 30 minutes.

VoltIQ is for devices not using QC technology and intelligently charges up to 5V/2.4A in each port.

  • Can anyone comment on if this is good for the iPhone X? My car charger is very slow..

    • +1

AFAIK iPhone use PD, so no fast charging.

      • +2

Correct. A USB-PD car charger is more appropriate for an iPhone X.

        • Thanks for the clarification. Just cancelled order.

@tomski182: Not a problem. I'll see if I can persuade geek on a good PD deal.

I have an iPhoneX and whilst using the Apple USB-C to Lightning cable along with a USB-C PD charger is the fastest charge (but you also have to buy the expensive special Apple cable for this).

I suspect your current car charger only has 5V/1A port(s) on it. The iPhone "should" charge much faster using any of the ports on this (the 5V/2.4A ports or the QC3.0 port) charger and will only be slightly slower than using the more complicated USB-C PD setup.

        e.g. I've tested

        Anker PowerPort+ 60/45W USB-C PD -> iPhoneX and got 13.5W charging
        BlitzWolf BW-S10 30W USB-C PD -> iPhoneX and got 12W charging

but multiple USB-A ports I've tried which delivers 5V/2A or greater via USB-A (incl QC3.0) and a standard lightning cable charges my iPhone at 9 to 10W (which is granted not quite as fast as the 12/13.5W charging but is still basically double the speed of the 5V/1A charger port)

        • Comprehensive response. Thanks Remorhaz. Will check what I have in the car, few years old though so probably 1A.

        • the anker and blitzwolf are not car chargers though

          any PD car chargers?

    Thanks OP!

  • thanks OP Got one.

  • SLightly off topic, but can anyone suggest a charger which would be good for a Pixel and also has bluetooth to play music from the phone? Our territory is old and doesn't have a bluetooth connection.

  • +2

Thanks @Clear! Have been waiting for a 3-port car charger deal ^____^

    Just ordered one

  • ordered.. and did it with free shipping cause thats how I roll.

  • Do not buy from this seller as i bought tronsmart usb c from them but DOA. They refused to send replacement and asking me to pay postage fee

    • +1

What's your order number? I'm happy to try and get that sorted for you.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered One.

  • is it better to convert with provider than with paypal coversion?

    • yes. don't use the paypal conversion

  • It did not say expected delivery ?

    • Free shipping from China can take up to 30 business days. Most people typically get their orders within 3 weeks.

      • i got an email saying it was in transit.

  • Nice one, thanks OP!

  • note that i have one of these and it does not QC my note 9, it Quick Charges my s9 tho which is strange.

    **sorry Samsung's Fast Charge <_<

    • +1

did you try another cable? They can be picky that way.

      • original samsung, htc, ugreen and blitzwolf cables were used.

    • i have noticed this with standard wall chargers as well

using official Samsung cable + QC 3.0 wall brick and only the S phone fast charges, the note does not

have you tried using the Note 9's cable specifically? i was using the S8's cable (same as s9) as i didnt have the note's cable anymore
ive even tested using the google pixel cable which can do PD charging but still doesnt fast charge the note

  • I bought one. Thanks OP!

  • Looks good. Has anyone used this on Samsung Galaxy Note 8's and can comment on it's performance?

Also on a related note, any good cables out there for it?

  • Great price, got one. Thanks, OP!

  • Just curiuos, anyone rec'd theirs yet?
