This is an ad. $7.50 is their everyday regular price. Not a deal!

    • They even have groupons but yeah this is the normal price.

    • +25

Lol, not an ad mate, it's a steal at this price. I don't work for them, I enjoyed this, so sharing with the peeps who can make use of them. Each to its own.

        • +4

@Spackbace: A bit impolite, but to be fair, they've been a member since 2009…

    • +9

It's OZBargains not OZDeals though. Considered a bargain so shared with others, why not?

      • +3

        Nailed it mate, thanks :)

      • What's the first link on the top menu (apart from the ozb logo)?

    • +11

hmmm $7.50 for unlimited indian food seems like a deal to me

      • +5

seems like a deal to me

        According to Hybroid above…

        "It's OZBargains not OZDeals though."

  • +11

If you're suggesting Om why not crossways and gopals. They're also in the city and a lot better IMO

    • OM is how I roll.

      • Have you tried the other two :)

        • +1

          Crossways, yes, good :)

    • +1

I love crossways but didn’t like Gopals

      • why didn't you like it :(

  • +5

    No Meat, No Deal !!!

    • -3

      Ha ha, awesomeness!!

      • -3

Do they let you BYO meat?

        • +4

Oh boy, I'm still laughing, thanks for this. Highly doubt that, never attempted either & not keen to risk public shaming.

        • -1

          @aaruu:

          What about BYO wine?

        • @jv: 🤣😂😁

        • +2

          @aaruu:

You don't like a nice Shiraz with a good curry?

A good feed and a bottle of wine for around $10…

        • @jv: I love my Shiraz mate. My previous reaction was more to the thought of wine at OM. Bin 2, Grey Label & Jarraman are my favs.

        • -1

That's actually a great idea! BYO meat.

        • +27

@aaruu: Just invite jv along - he'll bring all the whine you could ever want.

        • @marquise: if maccas or kfc have a nugget deal going take em there and have chicken curry.

        • +1

@jv Do you know meaning of vegetarian and vegan? If not you can google it.

        • -1

          @Ninjaboy:

The staff there don't need to eat it if you BYO.

It's no different to BYO wine at a restaurant without a full liquor licence.

    • +1

You don't make friends with salad!

    • +10

      It’s a vegetarian restaurant.

Do you also go to women’s gyms and complain about men’s rights?

      • +6

        $7.50 says he does.

    • If it doesn't have meat, it's a side dish.

  • +15

So awesome to hear about the free meals for those in need!!

  • +1

    Do they accept donations?

      • +2

        Because it's Tax Deductible.

  • +3

Damn wish I had this near me would be a regular trip for me at that price.

All I got near that price is domino's, pork roll or subway.

All other meals start at around $11 and only during special periods/time unless I buy some hot chips for $6.

$7.50 is a pretty good deal imho when you get sick of the above.

I think some RSL's do $20 buffets during lunch and dinner but they are like an hour and a half by train from me.

I mean I have been having two minute noodles, bread and fried potato recently (rip my insides) but yeah would be nice to have something else for a change.

    • +4

if you like dominos or subway or pork rolls you would like the food here less, it’s indian vegetarian and not like aussie indian with lots of cream and stuff, it is eat every day indian with less fat and no meat so lack of protein and fat hit might take some getting used to if eaten on daily basis ….. but good for a life style change at lunch times to ensure you get daily intake of fibre and veges

      • Yes it's pretty healthy. Sustainable to eat regularly rather than most fast food. Still some protein.

      • Ah damn I mean still a good choice but yeah I was hoping for like unlimited chicken tikkas and tikka massala

  • -4

Glad I'm not in the demographics that would be interested in this. My toilet can't cope.

    • -2

If its any consolation it looks better on the way out

      • people have no sense of humour these days. Maybe being a poor student doesn't help

  • +6

This used to be $6.5 few months back…

    • Yeah, they increased it by a $1 just recently. It was that price for like forever. Cost benefit analysis pressure I guess.

  • +3

Is this simply an ad? For $7.50 I can be filled up on a stunner meal from HJ

  • -7

    Any beef options?

    • +1

I think there is one : None.

    • People think they being funny smart arses but they really jus being dicks

    • No but you can chomp down the paneer and imagine its beef.

  • -5

No butter chicken on the menu, is it really a deal?

    • +6

aussies think butter chicken is the only culinary contribution indians have ever made …..don’t forget food delivery services .before uber there was tiffin….can we get one of these meals uber,d ?

but on a serious note ….it’s a cheap place for vegetarians to eat if not at home, i found the food a bit bland last time i ate there, but for vegetarians on a budget it’s an option,

at least middle eastern turn chick peas into falafel or humus which with hot bread and tabouleh i find more interesting than daal and naan.

doubt we will see an all you can eat $7.50 vegetarian kebab shop.

  • recommend the unlimited naan bread with ghee, it's amazing sleep-inducing food

  • +1

This is their standard price, not a deal

  • +4

There is another vegan restaurant like this one at Swanston Street called Crossways, I usually go there for lunch, $7.9 for one person, but they have free drinks and deserts. They also have Groupns and that's $7.9 for two people.

  • +1

Good meal to flush the colon

  • it's their normal price actually.

  • +2

In Darwin, a bloody naan bread costs $7.50. You lucky focks !

    • +3

That's a months rent in Darwin too, isn't it?

  • -7

They are damn slow with their naans/bread. Like 10mins+.

    • +1

      Maybe they are freshly made?

      • Nah they just want you out after some time. $7.50 you get only the cheap stuff.

  • +1

Regular price from ages. Also from memory - Iskcon also have all you can eat Indian buffet on Swanston or Elizabeth St.

    • That place is called Gopal i believe.

      • Gopal is their fancy place, they also have the budget Crossways a few doors down.

  • +4

This is regular price. If anything it used to be $6.5 last month or so? Doesn't belong on OZB.

  • Just to make it more clear, this is not fine dining. You'll need to go to counter with your plate if you need second or additional fill for curries or Daal or Rice. But they do serve Naan/Roti at your table.

  • +2

I used to buy this for $6.50 but it tastes like they watered it down. Now that it's $7.50 I think Crossways is better.

Om's main menu items ($10-$11) are great though. Tasty and big enough that I feel totally full.

  • Why arent there placed like this outside of the CBD?

    • +2

because they need a huge turnover of customers to be viable

  • +4

I used to work in the same building at Collins Street/swanston street in 2011. Price was $6.50 then. Only $1 increased in 7yrs.
    Nice people. Good food.
    Yes it's not a deal, it's a steal!

  • +3

Good on them for feeding people who really need it. I have seen their locations a few times but never tried them.
Maybe its time for a visit. Thanks.
