Tweaktown review

Not sure what makes this board "Gaming" grade other than the Fatal1ty brand name. But it's cheap, there are two M.2 slots that you can put SSD's into and you should consider one if you're building a Ryzen PC without sacrificing any must-have features (overclocking support, USB Type-C port, and loads of rear I/O ports with USB 3.0 etc).

  • According to specs it has 1 RGB LED header and 1 "AMD Fan LED header". Not sure exactly what this means but the fact it has at least 1 RGB header is good for a budget board.

    • The AMD Fan LED header is specifically for the AMD stock coolers that are RGB.

      • But don't those stock coolers work on any RGB header?

  • Pretty well-featured board for the price.

    • Yeah you can spend hundreds on a motherboard and not use all the features, I cant justify mobos over 200 bucks these days.

    Good find and great price.

For a ultimate tight budget PC for now, can go with the new Athlon 200GE now, and upgrade to better processor in the future.

Another way of getting similar/lower price if you don't have a umart near you, buy from eBay seller with the 10% off discounted eBay gift cards, and then use eBay Price Guarantee to refund the difference.

  • just built a system with this mainboard (Paid about $100 last week) + a Ryzen7 1700 I picked up for $260 off ebay sales, and some gskill memory. so far so good, have not OC yet,

    • I am temped to get another one of these and upgrade the households "general use" pc with a 200GE,

Note: If you're using a Ryzen 2XXX CPU, get the seller to flash/update the Bios before shipping otherwise your CPU won't post.

    • Question: Is that possible? Or if I pick up will they do it instore/free?

Looking to buy this plus a Ryzen 5, not sure how to overcome the issue otherwise

      • Call up the shop beforehand. All the computer shops I know of would do it for you for free. Only the 2nd Gen Ryzens need this though - which Ryzen 5 are you getting?

        • Really? Cool thanks.

  • Isnt the b350 chip outdated compared to b450?

    • +1

technically yes, hence why it is cheap, but all new CPU's work in this board with Bios update,

      • Can the 450 do much more that's significant? I couldn't see anything and the ram speeds for this beat most average b450 boards

        • B450 in theory can support up to 3600mhz ram, (later on down the track with Bios updates etc)

    If you're happy with 1 x M.2 slot
    MSI B350M PRO-VDH AMD Ryzen Socket AM4 mATX Motherboard DDR4 M.2 HDMI DVI $98 -20% = $78.40 posted
    Using the PHOME20 until 26th

  • Does the new Athlon 200GE processor work on the B350 motherboards without a bios update or does it require a bios update like the ryzen 2xxx series?

    • I'd tend to think the motherboard may require a BIOS update, unless it has that "Ryzen 2000 ready" logo on the box.

Leave a note for the seller to help update the BIOS. All the ones I've contacted are more than happy to do it.
