Considering that you can buy Core i3 notebooks for as low as $498 and $550 (for a Lenovo brand) I don't see how a $600 T-series Core 2 Duo is a bargain.
Unless it had good discrete graphics or a high res screen.

Thanks scrimshaw, could you please tell me what's better about the Core i3 netbooks? (I'm a newbie 'bout computers, & you seem the expert & all:)

No I'm not a self proclaimed expert, just to kindly let you know that this isn't really a bargain since Core i3 CPU's are pretty much taking over the mainstream processor market for laptops. You can buy them for under $600 if you search around.

        I'm not negging your bargain.

The i3 380M on the Lenovo laptop performs about 30% better than the T4500

For $729 you can get the i5 480M processor on the Lenovo Thinkpad Edge, which is almost double the performance of the T4500

This is a rather simplistic view but it condenses things somewhat, (Passmark CPU Performance Tests) T4500 vs i3 370M @ 2.4 vs i3 380M @ 2.53

        OR

        1574 vs 2226 vs 2282

This is of course just a measure of performance, the i3's generally use less power and produce less heat as well.

Having said that, Dell did fare better than Lenovo and Acer on the Squaretrade Laptop Reliability Report. Although Dell did far worse on PCWorld's more comprehensive report

    • This isn't a Core 2 Duo.

      It's Pentium core duo.

I agree with other member that this is definitely not a bargain.

Edit: (oh crap I accidentally pos'd it :/)

      • dw I neg'd it for you :)

      • It's not core duo, it's just dual core.

You can revoke your neg by clicking the vote tab under the title.

  • If you need to be with dell then better off with this, $100 more would be worth for config,

Scotty's Dell Vostro 3500 $699 - i5-460M, 4GB, 320GB HDD, Win7 Home Premium, 1 Year NBD Warranty seems a much better deal….oh and the (I’m a newbie ‘bout computers, & you seem the expert & all:) comment prompted me to make the effort to vote.

Agreed and agreed. Not a bargain and old tech.

Looks like you have done it again JB. Old technology at a non bargain price. Sharpen your pencil JB. It's a negative from me.
