Overview

Echo Plus is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice, with a built-in smart home hub. It connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, answer questions, make calls, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more— just ask.
Echo Plus has 360° room-filling sound, and can hear you from across the room from any direction. It is always getting smarter as Alexa continues to add additional features. With a built-in smart hub and simple setup for compatible connected devices, starting your smart home or integrating into your existing system is now easier than ever.

The simple way to start your smart home
With a built-in smart home hub, Echo Plus makes connecting to compatible smart devices easier than ever. Just ask, “Alexa, discover my devices”, and Echo Plus will discover and set up compatible smart lights and more without the need for additional hubs, apps or set up.

Turn on the lamp before getting out of bed or switch on the kettle in the morning without lifting a finger. Simple setup works with a variety of Zigbee lights, plugs and more from leading brands like Philips Hue.

Voice control your music
With a 2.5” down-firing woofer and .8” tweeter powered by Dolby, Echo Plus has crisp highs, deep bass, and 360° audio to fill your room with music. Play from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and more (certain services may require separate subscriptions or other fees). You can also listen to podcasts, radio stations, news briefs, and more.

Hands-free calling and messaging
With Amazon Echo, you can easily talk hands-free to anyone who has a supported Echo device or the Alexa App— no tapping or searching required. Additionally, you can send messages via voice or text to anyone with an Echo device or the Alexa App. To get started, download the latest version of the Alexa App on a smart phone with iOS 9.0 or higher, or Android 5.0 or higher, and verify your mobile number.

With the Drop In feature enabled for room-to-room calling, quickly connect with Echo devices in your home. Let your household know when dinner is ready, ask someone for help with a chore or remind the kids to go to sleep—without having to raise your voice.

Far-field voice recognition
Tucked under the light ring is an array of seven microphones that use beam-forming technology and enhanced noise cancellation. The 2nd generation Echo has improved wake-word performance to hear you ask a question from any direction—even in noisy environments or while playing music at loud volumes.

When you want to use Echo, simply say the wake word, “Alexa,” and Echo lights up and connects to the cloud, where the Alexa Voice Service recognizes and responds to your request.

Echo Plus has skills
Amazon Echo has thousands of skills and counting. Skills add even more capabilities such as checking surf conditions with Coastalwatch, requesting a ride from Uber, discovering recipes with Taste.com.au and more. To enable new skills, just ask Alexa.

New skills are being added all the time. You can see ratings and reviews to learn what other customers are saying about the thousands of skills available in the Alexa App.

Always getting smarter
Alexa- the brain behind Amazon Echo- updates through the cloud automatically and is continually learning, adding new functionality and skills. The more you use Echo, the more it adapts to your speech patterns, vocabulary and personal preferences.

  • Honestly this could be good if you like future stuff like saying "computer turn off the lights" (can replace saying Alexa with computer) but I'm hoping that google will have something good coming in a few days along with their new chromecast

Step 1: Open the Alexa app.
Step 2: Tap the three horizontal lines next to “Home” in the upper-left-hand corner of the screen.
Step 3: Tap “Settings” from the menu.
Step 4: Select the device you want to change. If you only own one, this should be easy.
Step 5: Tap “Wake Word.” You’ll be shown a menu of options: “Amazon,” “Echo,” and “Computer.” Pick one to be your new command. Heads up: Changing the wake word can take a few minutes to update on the device itself, so you’ll have to wait a little bit before returning to yelling at your little robot to play you some Alanis Morissette.

This is not really a "deal" when you consider the fact Officeworks sells the same thing at a normal price of $129.

OfficeWorks aren’t on PriceHipster so hard to tell for certain. But googling like “Echo plus officeworks” shows the cached info on the search with price of $229. $129 isn’t their normal price, the price might have dropped to that being the new “normal”, but more likely theyre price matching the last day or two if not a scheduled sale.

      • The replacement Echo Plus is out next week so this is effectively clearance everywhere.

Standard price for this (and the replacement) is $229 so I don't think this model will drop any lower. $129 is already pretty cheap. They're both functionally the same.

  • Showing as $229 in cart, is this deal done?

  • It still shows $114 on JB website
