Only if you have a compressor in the boot as well…..

Oops, I should have read the description clearly!

    • i find it isn't work the hassle of turning the compressor on just to pump up a tire. it is easier to use a hand pump

  • How do compressor and handy go hand in hand?

My $12 pump woth pressure meter from Aldi works very well and doesn't needa compressor.

    • Handy - as in you'll have sore handies after trying to inflate a car tyres using your little Aldi hand job.

  • Easy to read, no way. Let's say I want 12psi. Check image. No way would this dial be accurate.

    • People don't normally need to inflate tyres to 12psi. If you are drag racing, you'd be using something better than this cheapie.
Trolley tyres are usually 20psi, wheelbarrows perhaps 25 or so. Cars around 30psi. Kids BMX 35, adult bikes >60.

    • More than suitable for most weekend warriors.

Curious what you want exactly 12psi in, and why you expect this in a ten buck airtool.

Most off-road dirtbikes run pressures around 12psi

I have been having a massive spring cleanup and have inflated a lot of tyres the past few weeks, using various hand and foot pumps, as well as both a small oil-free and a 50l 2.5hp compressor.

The kind of valve connector on this deal is by far the easiest to use, as it doesn't require high amounts of pressure to make/maintain a seal.
The type that require constant pressure while using (ie: no lock) are the worst, especially for flat tyres as you need 3 hands to hold stem, hold inflator and pull trigger.

Also terrible are the kind that is commonly used on bike pumps, where there is a lever to squish a rubber seal around the valve stem. They are fail on numerous levels, most notably the sheer force required to move the lever and that half the time it's a poor seal or the valve doesn't depress properly so air won't go in. GRRR

  • I have something like this from a Supercheap auto sale, I do not have a compressor (yet).

You can just use this attachment to check the current tyre pressure.

The gauge scale always annoys me with these things. Why does it need to go anywhere over 80 - 100 psi, especially as far as 220psi. No domestic or hobby air compressor goes anywhere near that high. Would be a lot more accurate to read if the whole gauge sweep covered only 80psi or so.

    • Why do most car speedos go to 220/240km/h in 4cyl cars? They'll probably max out at 160km/h ish. It's I think psychological to make you think your car goes fast!

      • It's not the size of your psi, it's how you use it.
