  true that they'll cool your drink faster but you'll also want to slug it down quicker as they'll melt more quickly as well. not really a problem with some drinks but for others..

  You want science? Want your drink to cool quicker? We all know at atmospheric pressure, water freezes at 0c but not many know ethyl alcohol (ethanol) freezes at a much lower point.

  Make 25% strength vodka ice cubes and they have a latent heat of fusion point about -15c. One vodka ice cube will cool your drink about 10x better than a normal water ice cube (assuming about 200kj/kg energy input to change the phase of a 25% vodka/water ice cube), and give all the nutritional and social benefits of after work rounds of shots.

  That is correct. But they will also melt quicker and dilute your drink before you've finished it.

  I switched to smaller cubes and that was my experience. Also, it's hard to pour out the cubes into a cup without some of them falling out onto the table. That's due to tray design.
