    Hi Mungi, nice offer :-)

Can you please tell me how a service connects to your network? Is it PPPoE or IPoE?

Also, what is the typical evening speed?
Edit: please disregard this question, I just found the speeds on your website. Thanks

    Thanks!

    • +2

      Hey there :)

Our network operates over PPPoE on our own L2 network.

Our typical evening speeds on the Lightning 50 is 45Mbps :)

      • Great, thank you!

        • No worries :)

Feel free to reach out on our live chat or SMS us at 0427 188 626 if you have any questions!

  • What's going on with the 25/5 plans at the moment? Currently with Aussie and they still have them.

    • We plan to bring this back next month however we have some great discount's that won't apply then.

    • Yes please. Bring back 25/5

      • +1

Currently, the 25/5 is the same price as the 50/20 at a wholesale level, this will change next month.

        • +1

In what way? Wouldn't surprise me if 25/5 becomes more expensive to wholesale.

  • Can someone on Mungi Melbourne please test the Australian dota ping for me?

    http://deepfocus.io/dota2_ping.php

    • +3

I've ran this from my Pi on our Melbourne network.

      Min Ping: 65
      Range: 77 - 76
      Max Ping: 79

If you can provide the IP. I'll be glad to send over a trace

      • Thanks for running the test. The dota ping should be 103.10.125.1.
Have you had any gaming stability issues? I moved to ABB from telecube because telecube had regular lag spikes.

        • +2

No issues at all. I commonly play WoW, PUBG and WC3 and don't get many issues at all :)

I can't seem to ping that IP but I can get a traceroute:

traceroute to 103.10.125.1 (103.10.125.1), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

  • Is the "Aussie support" only via SMS and chat? The title for OP is strangely worded, not sure if it's intentional or a character limit?
Wondering if phone support is straight to Philippines.

    • +2

All our team is based in Australia. The title is a bit weirdly worded due to the character limit.

You'll never speak to anyone outside of Australia :)

      • Cheers.

        • No worries :)

  • 12/1 $55/mth? I thought NBNco were cracking down on 12/1 used for data?

for $55, I'm guessing the AussieBB 25/5 100Gb plan is probably enough data for anyone (oldies?) looking at the 12/1 plan.

Or the best value for oldies is the Westnet Seniors card plan $40/mth 12/1 50gb (shaped), phone & unlimited local & national calls

    https://www.westnet.com.au/internet-products/broadband/nbn/c…

    • We're have special discounts until the end of the month for the nbn12 :)

      • fair enough, it's low profit bait (I understand the 25/5 wholesale price will go to ~$50/mth in Nov).
Any idea on the long term pricing?

        • +1

For the nbn25, we're aiming for roughly $69 per month. If you're an existing customer, you're always welcome to move to this plan later on.

          • @millie2323: Cheers. sensible, sustainable pricing - that's nice to see.

  • What's the port process like from say ABB on FTTC, is there any downtime or do we sign up with you first and then after ported cancel with them?

    • +1

Transferring FTTC is fairly seamless. You'll have a few hours of downtime. It would be suggest to cancel your ABB service after you;re 100% online with Mungi :)

  • How long is the downtime for FTTN from ABB?

    • Hey there :)

Its about 1-3 hours downtime :)

  • +1

I've been with Mungi for a week and a half on FTTN (max sync possible over 130/53) but on the 50/20 plan, and whilst in off peak times the speeds are good, in peak times the speeds do drop a bit (although still about 40Mbps or so locally) but international speeds absolutely tank and are all over the place.

This shows they're not skimping on CVC or domestic transit, but internationally it suffers. My usual download tests are from my Usenet server (can max it out at 6MB/s in off peak times) and the AT&T Speedtest server and can tell from about 5pm or so Perth time (currently going through Sydney till they get their Perth POP online) until about 10pm or so that usenet speeds are sub 10Mbps (and jumping all over the place). Never had issues with my previous ISP on ADSL2 (Internode) and could always max out my connection (admittedly only 11Mbps but it was a solid 1-1.1MB/s download from there). Steam downloads during peak are still about 4.5-5.5MB/s but they're from local CDN's.

So still some improvements needed for me from Mungi.. will test them out still once the Perth POP comes online and stick it out for a month or so after that, if things don't improve with international speeds sadly I'll have to move to Aussie!

Just for interest sakes, some random speedtest results now (for some reason most of the upload speeds are shocking right now)
    Exetel Sydney
    Telstra Sydney
    Internode Sydney
    AT&T Los Angeles
    AT&T New York City
Octopus Telecom London(Vodafone UK wasn't working for some reason

    • +1

Thanks for the feedback. Can you please email me at [email protected] so I can look into these further?

Our Perth POP is due to be ready for service next week :)

      • +1

Hey Jamie, no worries I'll do some more testing tonight and email you hopefully tomorrow, working from home both days so can do some decent testing.

Don't take it as criticism of the service, it's still awesome value for money and as I said, you're clearly not skimping on CVC as domestic speeds are always great. Hopefully once the Perth POP comes online it'll help to improve things further. I'm not expecting to max out my connection to international servers 24x7, but at the moment the speed difference is very noticeable from outside the peak window that I mentioned before. Even if I can get 20-30Mbps internationally in peak times it will be a huge improvement.

        • No worries. Keep me posted :)

    • Thanks for those speed tests, I understand you're not happy but ABB is far worse for me, on 100mbps i get over 90 in oz but those servers overseas you tested against I can't even get 10mbps from.. AT+T los A. for example I consistently get 4mbps down and 5-6 up (peak and off peak).

There is a big thread on whirlpool (aussie sub forum) about international speeds, the sad part is different people consistently get different results, maybe based on routing from your POI I guess.

I do appreciate that ABB does not slow down at all locally in peak.

      • Yeah I've seen the posts on ABB forum on Whirlpool. I have family that I put on ABB and they have no complaints, then again they also aren't massive users of the net though either.

Mungi are great for local speeds (generally) even in peak times. But some of their international speeds are shocking, but luckily don't last too long. Can't really complain for the price as I'm only paying $60 a month for the first 5 months then only up to $65, so cheaper than their currently offered prices so for the price it is very good.

Although do have some weird strange speeds with Origin when it goes through Megaport on the tracert though, not sure exactly why that is. I connect to my work VPN though (iiNet 50/20 FTTP) and the speed shoots straight up to 2MB/s, but disconnect the VPN and it sometimes stays about the same speed but generally slows down to under 10Mbps. Other times though it flies along at 6MB/s. Steam is never an issue.

How does this compare to FlipTV?
    https://www.fliptv.com.au/nbn/

They are advertising 12/50 from $39.90/$54.90 for 6 Months, months to month,$0 setup. I am finishing contract with myrepublic

Awesome local service, fast responses and genuine care about their customers.

    • Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it :)

We work tirelessly to ensure the best experience for our customers.

  • can you explain the etymology of your name?

    • Mungi, which is pronounced as Mung-ee, is a word from the Tharawal people of NSW, which refers to lightning.

The idea is we offer lightning fast nbn :)

      • +1

Lightning fast, but you're not even offering 100Mbps?

        • +1

We plan to offer a great value, high-quality nbn50 service with exceptional customer service.

We plan to bring back to nbn100 next year.

  • Hey anyone here who lives in the central coast have experience with these guys? Currently with TPG on the 50 plan for $70.
Thinking of trying this out if is good

    • Hey there!

We've recently launched our L2 network in Brisbane and have seen great results so far.

Feel free to browse our reviews at mungi.online/reviews

      • Central Coast not sunshine. Also what benefits do you offer over TPG for the extra $5

          • We're 100% Australian owned and operated
          • You can speak to our team via live chat or SMS
          • We notify you before invoices are due :)

There's heaps of reasons why Mungi is a great option

          • +1

@millie2323: I understand those but would I see any better performance for the price difference

            • @schwifty: Absolutely. Our network utilised multiple transit providers. This means you get a great blend of network capacity when connecting to servers all over the world.

              • +1

@millie2323: Sorry but you haven't sold me I honestly can't see why of pay more for the same. It looked good at first thanx anyway

  • Any plans for 100mb or faster?

    • -1

Not at this stage as our wholesaler does not provide this option.

We may bring back the nbn100 next year :)

  • Would have to vote for either Tangerine, Mate Communicate or Flip TV instead over this mob.

Price is everything in this industry.

I am with mate and so far so good they also do simple data reporting which is nice.

I used 2.4TB roughly on their 100/40 network last month but down to 50/20 for now because I can't sustain above 65 constantly only in some rare times and peaks.

Mate communicate customer service is top notch can vouch for them and I think I am paying around $59/month for 4-5 more months until the promo expires and it goes up an extra $10/month.

Tangerine seem ok too price wise but have not ported to them yet they are my backup when this promo thing expires with mate.

  • I would be super interested in a 100/40 (that maintains at least 80 down during peak) and moreso if there was a hub in Adelaide! No body good seems to put a hub (POI?) in Adelaide. Currently with ABB.

  • I understand there's a speed test (i.e. switching ADSL to NBN), is the test based upon selected plan i.e. nbn12 or fastest NBN plan available i.e. nbn100?

    Are the results shared?

    Thank you.

  • I'm bitter you guys cancelled my 100/40 plan. Lucky I'm too lazy to switch ISP's..

  • Can anyone give me an idea what mungi's international speeds are like, I find ABB to be insanely good in australia (i get 94mbps consistantly) but terrible to europe and sometimes america (at best 6-7mpbs).
