Apple iPad $200 off at Target, Basically The Same Deal as BigW

290

Saw this in the Courier Mail today - see stores in picture (QLD, not sure about other states). Almost the same deal as BigW, except Target's original prices were $1 more. So I think if you're still looking for a 1st gen iPad you could pick a more convenient store.

You can probably save yourself another $10 as well by filling out the form linked from the site below and collecting your "new baby bag" from target - which contains a $10 off $50 voucher

    • it does say "not valid in conjunction with any other advertised offer" so i dunno…

  • Ive been debating with myself if i should get this older model or spend an extra 200 on the newer one..
Please help if ure a techie.. I just want the basic model.. 16gb with wifi… NO use as such but just an extra gadget..

    • Pricing for iPad 2 isn't out I'm holding back until I know how much it is.

      • Apple Aust indicated it will be same price as Ipad 1

        • With the Aussie Dollar at/above parity - how can they justify the price differential with the USA price - (yes i know there are US state taxes but there are some without)

        • @Wally, you know Apple prices in the UK is way more expensive than in the US + tax so prices here will probably be the same as before.

      • iPad 2 16gb wifi - $629 aud

    • I've also been thinking about it and my conclusion is that I'll be getting the white iPad with 3G. It looks awesome. I know I'll be using it everyday at uni and it'll be a very important diary so I think it's worth the extra $200. You just need to make sure if you want the 1st generation iPad most of the features you need are on there.

By the time you made your decision, it is likely they will all be sold out.

Basically, it comes down to this:
      - Is 3D gaming important to you?
      - Do you want to connect your iPad to a TV (for movie or even presentation)?
      - New iPad is thinner and lighter - is that important to you?
      - Is a Webcam important to you (think about video call using skype)?

If the answer to any of the above 4 questions is yes, then you want iPad 2. iPad 2 - faster CPU and much faster GPU, HDMI support, much smaller and front+back cameras.

However, at this price, my prediction is those discounted iPads will be selling like hot cakes.

  • not many stock available. good news is jb hifi mathes the price. just got one from jbhifi highpoint, victoria.

  • I'm hoping that there will be some left of the older version for the July toy sales catalogue so I can put one on 5/6mnth Xmas layby!

    • I really highly doubt that.

    • best choice would be Good Guys

  • CANBERRA city update:
No Targets stock Ipads in Canberra apparently (that's what the guy told me).
BigW all sold out of everything but the 64gb 3g. Told me they sold all 20 16GB on day 1 of sale!!!
Dick Smith all sold out of 16s and not willing to go price match on the 32s
Apple store all sold out of everything
    JB, no 16s

David Jones 3x 16s left and perfectly happy to give it to me for $400… yay. They had heaps of all of them. Funny how no one thinks to check out our friend David. He's always happy to price match :)
