Save your money, mosquitoes aren't attracted to light, they're attracted to carbon dioxide & some odours. Humans don't emit light, ultra-violet or otherwise. Bug Zappers just lure harmless insects like moths, beetles, etc

These traps are not effective at killing biting insects (female mosquitoes and other insects),[6][7] being much more effective at attracting and killing other harmless and beneficial insects. A study by the University of Delaware showed that over a period of 15 summer nights, 13,789 insects were killed among six devices. Of those insects killed, only 31 were biting insects.[8] Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide and water vapor in the breath of mammals, not ultraviolet light.[7]

    • They're attracted to my empty beer bottles I put back into the carton for recycling. Not sure if it's because of the beer remnants or darkness, though.

Keeps them in one area to spray, which is good. Wouldn't mind a less toxic way, but one quick spray instead of using a bottle of fly spray in the house. See, alcoholism isn't all bad.

Get an ice cream container and pour your dregs into that. Place it in the back garden and in no time at all you'll have a ton of dead mozzies in it. Also snails.

        • Maybe add an electric zapper next to it or a fan to push the mozzies down?

      • +3

that'd be the CO2 that makes the bubbles in the beer.

        • +2

          Even mozzies like free beer.

  • These rely on octenol only to attract mosquitoes. Octenol works well but you're much better off using products with a TiO2 coating, which produce CO2 when exposed to UVB.

    • This guy knows biters 😮

Does it make a "Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh" sound?

No deal, mosquitoes aren't attracted to light. Also cheaper on Aliexpress as mentioned above, neg.

  • I'm told smearing Listerine on doorframes and window frames keeps them out.
