Was looking for a decent charger for my car battery and came across this deal. This charger is excellent and works with most car batteries including AGM.

      Not the same product

      • How so? They're both the CTEK MXS 5.0?

-edit- oh wait, when you click through the product changes. What the hell.

          Haha, dodgy ebay seller.

bought mine over 5 years ago now… still going strong… recovered dead flat batteries, cars still going on it… love mine.

    • You got it cheap 5 years ago. I bought one last year $87, and another this year $95. But like you said it has already revived 2 of my car betteries well worth the money.

Completely different. The CTEK MXS5.0 is a battery maintenance tool designed to increase the overall life of a battery . You've linked a jump starter.

  • I have owned this charger for 5 years - its pretty good.
But 2 years ago I bought Noco Genius G7200 - rated higher at 7.2amp. Similar price to above.
I would recommend this handsdown over the CTEK. It has better recharge and recondition programs, and it does AGM and Lithium batteries as well (12/24V). Note - I have no affiliation with any company in this industry

    • Noco Genius G7200 looks interesting. How much did you get it for?

      • Happy with my Noco Genius 7200 delivered from autoelec.com.au for $116.00

    • Amazon reviews not favourable for the "Noco Genius G7200"..

1 mentioned it caught fire whilst another opened his up to find very poor soldering & apparently their warranty process sux balls (maybe just an Amazon thing though?)

      Here's link for a read

  • How is this different to Aldi's current $30 12v/6v Auto XS smart car charger?

e.g. this one (though I believe they've changed the design a few times)
    https://www.manualslib.com/manual/746592/Aldi-Auto-Xs-Cpl-20…

I've got the Auto XS units and they are very good. (I know rare to find electronics at Aldi worth buying but this was the exception)

CTEK claim an 8 stage process, 5 year warranty (over Auto XS's 1 year) and ability to start the car whilst charging. That all sounds nice, but why fork out $112 over $30 on the Auto XS?
Main negative I have with the AutoXS is because its a smart charger, it won't charge a battery that's gone too flat [a rare occurrence]. However if you use a cheap dumb charger to kick it back up to minimum it will take over.

I don't think the CTEK will do better???

    • Ctek won't charge battery too flat too

    • Have both the ctek and the xs from 2years ago. For my deepcycle, the xs said it was fully charged, yet the ctek gave it another 6hrs, so I trust the ctek a bit more. Xs is fine though as a first or non critical charger though, and fantastic value for money

  • If I show them the RACV card then I get 30% off just this weekend?

    • +1

      Yes, storewide.

  • I tried this one: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/battery-charger---12v/74824…

    I think it cooked my battery, it was almost full in the evening and by morning it was dead :{

next time i wouldn't go as low as 25$
