Free Coke Zero at Town Hall Train Station from 7am - 9.30am maybe several days (Sydney, NSW)

520

Town Hall station in Sydney seems to have lots of Coke Zero branding. There is a Coke Zero machine on the side of the station between the exits to Town Hall Arcade and QVB with a sign saying come today for free Coke Zero from 7am. I would normally not think much of it, perhaps a joke. But there was a security guard right next to the machine who looked like he had been there for a while.

edit: add pic
edit: deal is available, may be for several days (depedinding on restocking of machine)
edit: added time coke ran out today

So what happened? Has the machine been OzBargained yet? :)

    • -4

I checked urbandictionary.com and couldn't find the term 'OzBargained.' What exactly does that mean? Can a human being get 'OzBargained?' Sure doesn't sound pleasant.

What are you talking about? It has been there since February. Anyway I think it is pretty obvious in this context that it refers to a deal being overwhelmed by ozbargainers.

      • Can a human being get 'OzBargained?'

        LOL

        • Well some come close by seeking attention, e.g. Ash. :)

whats with the homeless bum / guard? on the side? is he waiting till 7:00?

Funny how this never happens in BNE……we get pamphlets on "Translink" from people wearing shirts, bags, hats…all the money they should be pumping into the actual trasnport system damn it!

    oops…sorry went off on a tangent there…

But still…we dont get free coke machines in Brisbane….:(

    • +1

I'm pretty sure we got the free coke last time in the city.

      • Ok…a few of the crew here said that too…a 250mil small can.
        I stand corrected…..

Still no darn machine with full sizes though!! - I give them at least the profit from 3-5 cans a day, ya'd think they would cough up more!!

        Stand off the soapbox…again Snigger…

        • +2

Am I the only person that prefers the smaller sizes?

I hate it when places only have 600ml bottles.

        • Agreed. Especially later in the day, I far prefer getting a 330ml bottle because it won't go flat before I want to finish it.

      translink - don't get me started….

      • -1

what's wrong with translink/queensland rail? i find their services to be great, trains are always clean and on time, and there are always plenty of guards patrolling the trains/stations so you feel safe. try catching a train in western sydney then complain to me about translink…

        • -1

          -price. the cost of tickets.
          -the inconvenient ticket gates.
-the poor quality of Go cards (2 that just sit in my wallet have died in 6 months and I have to pay to replace them)
-the alienation of people who use their services infrequently or visitors and are slugged with higher priced paper ticket.
          -the scrapping of daily/weekly/monthly tickets.

previously with a daily/weekly/monthly ticket it was a travel buffet -all you could travel in the time limit. now you pay for each single trip. this is why when i go on weekend family trips I avoid public transport and drive. previously it would cost my family approx $20 for a saturday of travel from RedCliffe to southbank, back in the city for shopping then dinner at fortitude valley and then back to redlicffe. It's easily doubled that cost . it's cheaper to drive. screw the environment.

when have you ever not felt safe on brisbane train?

-are the exorbitant price increases there to cover the cost of the guards?
-do higher prices ensure "on time" trains?

          I have to stop now

They should have emulated a ticketing system like London or Hong Kong or Tokyo

        • oh yeah, try catching a train in Tokyo, Melbourne, Paris, Prague, Berlin, Sendai or London then complain to me about translink…

  • the homeless bum is guarding his prime territory(free chair/free drink/free leftover change-what's not to like:) so other homeless bums can't move in!lol

  • Just checked, free cokes only available from 7am til 9:30am. There was a guard stationed at the vending machine who told me this. I think there is a guard stationed there to stop people from gettin free cokes all day round!

    • that's stupid. the cost of hiring a guard would be much higher than the cost of cokes in that vending machine!

      • I think it would be bad publicity if scuffles broke out, vandalism happened, etc. Some costs are unavoidable.

  • There needs to be a better system than having a security guard standing around all day when its not in use (if that is indeed what's happening - not just during the time its open). I understand the promotion but surely they could just cart it away or something into a secure room & leave a sign? Atm its a good idea + a terrible idea combined

  • Damn….got off at Wynyard today….

  • great way to add empty calories

  • +3

that's no guard, just some old bum.

  • There was no sign to come back tomorrow or next week, so looks like its over. Got three cans for the three days of the promotion, thanks OP.
