1373

There're 4 x full height coke vending machines on top of Wynyard station, take the escalators.
Starts at 11:30am everyday, all cans are free.

More are reported to be at Central station Brisbane, Sydney, Martin Place, maybe others.

Don't know how long they'll be there for.

    wow, addiction much?

      • +4

I thought you were supposed to negative about the deal not the product.

and its a good deal considering its free.

        • +9

that rule is crap, what if there is free cyanide pills available?

how about I start a bargain for walking into the wrong part of st kilda at 2 in the morning and you get a free stabbing? the product is terrible, but it's free!

note: i disagree completely with him posting the aspartasme thing - you'd need 21 cans of diet coke/coke zero to be above the recommended daily indicator for an average adult. to die from that, you'd need to sustain that as a habit for a long time. the sugar would kill you before the aspartasme.

          • +9

@Gecko: Has anyone been to check this deal out? I don't want to go down to St Kilda and miss out on my free stabbing. Can you upload receipt please?

        4.

those linked websites of yours look like most of the conspiracy websites that form on the internet spreading opinions as facts with no scientific backing.
yes I know cracked is a humour website but at least they have facts to backup their stuff.
this isn't an attack on you gamgo, just don't believe everything on the internet :p

        • It's a very good point.

Nevertheless, corporate bias does exist regardless of conspiracy theories, in almost all official channels of information. (Leaving corruption aside for the moment.)

For this reason, it is wise to be cautious when it comes to multinationals that are motivated only by profit — especially when they're linked to destructive products (junk food, tobacco) that indicate a lack of ethical consideration.

      • dude…..chill

panadol and teflon are dangerous too. you cant neg begause you dont agree with it.

        • I think he's saying that it has no value and therefore is not a bargain.
e.g. Would free tap water be a bargain?
Anyway those empty calories aren't good for you. Just keep that in mind.

      • +6

Oh what a load of crap.

Tap water has fluoride in it. Fluoride can kill you in excessive amounts. Everyone, don't drink tap water, it will kill you. -ve vote for tap water.

        • +15

Oxygen is dangerous too. Most people are addicted to it so badly that if you go cold turkey the withdrawls are so bad you die.

          -ve for O2

        • Its his first time drinking coke or alcahol. And he's never ever been inside a kfc or mcdonald's.

      • Always check a reliable, unbiased source :)

        http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp

There is so much fear on the net…

      • 67 -ve votes, is this a record?

  • Yep, there were 5 in the park opposite central (eddy avenue exit), all set to $0.00, you can take as many as you want, the staff don't care. there was a man with a suitcase when i went

  • i was wondering why there were some of these at Central Station (Brisbane)….

  • +2

Someone's gonna get a dickload. Greedy much.

  • I think there are a couple at Martin Place as well, walked by a crowd of people next to Coke Zero machines.

  • -6

Think twice think before drinking aspartame latent drinks.

    • +2

You should also think twice before drinking drinks full of sugar.

It really depends on the person and how much they are drinking.

      • +2

You could always cycle between them.
        Or you know, drink water.

        • +19

Seeing as the free can's are at train stations, I wouldn't cycle between them, I'd take the train!

          • +3

@shmahoo: face palm. that was awful lol. i cant wait till im a father and can start making dad jokes.

      • Coke zero = zero sugar, fool

    • +11

It's ironic that your typo here "aspartame latent drinks"; rather than "aspartame laden drinks", is not so far from the truth! ;)

Autosomal recessive phenylketonuria is probably the biggest worry from this stuff IMHO! ;)

I'm with Wang; take two hydrogens, throw in one oxygen, shaken or stirred, makes a nice cocktail! :p

      • +5

didn't you know dihydrogen monoxide is toxic?
        http://www.dhmo.org/

        • -4

I hope you're not serious, i am doing a chemisty degree at uni and dihydrogen monoxide is another way of saying H2O/water, its was used as a social experiment, from wiki "the hoax is designed to illustrate how the lack of scientific literacy and an exaggerated analysis can lead to misplaced fears", Jonno.

          • +2

            @jonnois: Hahahahahahahaaa

          • +6

@jonnois: WOW - thanks for the analysis, Sherlock. That uni degree sure does make you smart. You mean this isn't real?

            • +2

@fattyboombatty: lol its ok. if scientists weren't serious people we'd only have xray goggles and orgasm simulators instead of useful things like… damn i wish scientists weren't so serious

              • @kimmik: Useful things like lasers in every home, and jet engines at your disposal? You already have these things…

          • @jonnois: Lmao dude, this was for a joke.
Year 11 chemistry is sufficient to teach you what Dihydrogen Monoxide is.. an additive to our water supply, though I don't get why people are negging your comment, you're only trying to clear up the people that aren't aware =P

            • -1

              @cwongtech: An additive? Explain please

              • @kimmik: Everyone with at least year 11 Chemistry knowledge knows that adding Dihydrogen Monoxide to our country's/state's/city's water supply unquestionably improves the overall quality of our drinking water. In fact, for every 1000mLs of Dihydrogen Monoxide added, we receive a net one litre of PURE WATER into the system. It is why EVERY MAJOR CITY around the world uses a similar technique, although it is never reported.

To everyone supporting this thread - thank you !!

And to those of you who have stopped contributing and gone off to work on your xrzy goggles and orgasm simulators - I salute you!

                • -2

                  @shmahoo: Stopped contributing? Explain please

The amount of misinterpreted sarcasm and irony in this thread is ridiculous. Yr 11 chem? More like yr7 science to realise dhmo is water… If you listened in class that is. Yr11 chem is farrr more respectable than knowing what dhmo is.

Thinking that someone is ignorant enough not to know dhmo is a joke makes the thinker the ignorant one. Thats why jonnois was negged. He thought trance was serious about dhmo toxicity.

Also, thinking it takes uni level chem to tell ppl what dhmo is… Laughable

                • +1

                  @shmahoo: Year 8 Basic Science

              • @kimmik: Di = 2
                Hydrogen = H
                Mono = 1
                Oxide = Oxygen = O
                Dihydrogen Monoxide
                H 2 O
                H2O
Very toxic, in high levels that is. It's killed people before. Beware! Dihydrogen monoxide!
                http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16614865/#slice-2
                bit.ly/a67KKc - it's a wikipedia article

                QED

          • @jonnois: You must be receiving high distinctions, tell me your secret!

    • +2

"Think twice think before drinking aspartame latent drinks."

Anyone would think aspartame was an excito-neurotoxin the way you're talking.

  • +15

Remember kiddies, the first hit is free :) (ref: drug dealers)

  • +6

Those coke machines have been there for a week with a sign saying "come back tomorrow morning for your free coke zero". For 5 days I was wondering what "tomorrow morning" actually means

Anyway, Coke Zero tastes nothing like normal coke

    • Heh gotta love their sense of time :)

    • +4

      Yeah Coke zero tastes horrible.

  • +1

    no Melbourne???

  • +7

no one's made off with an entire vending machine yet? lol

  • lol, any in Adelaide.
Might make a bus trip to get a sugar hit for the price of my bus trip and get some shopping done while I'm at it.

    • It's unfortunate that you won't be getting any sugar hits with Coke Zero.

  • +2

Pepsi Max is way better, and water beats 'em all!!!!

    • can't be serious right? Pepsi Max tastes like used bong water… not that i know what that is like first hand, but I have been informed from a source that is not so credible, though slightly believable.

      • Bong water sure is nice :)

  • +2

The original poster wrote - "Don’t know how long they’ll be there for."

The answer is - "until enough Ozbargainers read this post !!"

    • +3

well this is the whole point of ambush marketing techniques such as this, give away a couple free cans of coke, and gets a whole bunch of publicity for next to nothing.

      • and? thats the whole point of ALOT of the deals on here :)

  • +13

I guarantee something - someone will STILL have checked the coin return slot.

    • -2

      yeah…probably me :p

  • +4

Coke Zero fails! Even though it's now "Zero" dollars, I'm still not drinking it.

    • +18

      cool story bro

      • i dunno why your reply made me laugh so much, but it cracked me up.

        • -4

That would be coz he stole it off Orpheus; and uses it as if it were his own material; ad nauseum! Our max may not be original, but he is persistent!

Plagiarism is not a cool story, bro! :p

          • +5

@StewBalls: I dunno who this Orpheus is, but heaps of people say it, on many sites.
it's pretty much an internet phrase.

    • thanks for letting us know.

  • +1

Great, let's give out free unhealthy drinks to hook the next generation!

  • How many cans does each vending machine hold?
Surely there must be a staff member constantly refilling it?

  • +3

Something about Coke Zero and Pepsi Max gives me heart burn, the only food/drink/anything that I've had that I get this with. Weird side effect..

    • I call troll

      • +3

        :( I wish it were.

  • +3

Beware! Coke Zero is addictive. Seriously. I need rehab, honestly, I can't survive a day without it. And now it's freeeeeeeeee! Wheeeeeeeeeee!<———Coke Zero high

So…..how many cans do you think one person could carry?

  • coke zero is not coke

    • Really? Whatever gave you that idea. Oh wait, was it because it was in a different colour can and labelled "Coke Zero"? Dunno, hard to tell.

  • +3

The asian dude is looking at the coke machine like

"hmm, what to pick? I think Ill just get coke zero"

  • -1

i wonder what would stop someone from filling a backpack or something and hauling like a dozen away, but i liked the guy taking the pic in the left corner, more than the asian guy

  • +1

Coke Zero can make you have Symptoms like Multiple Sclerosis, and can also lead the way to it as well.

    • +9

I hope you have nothing against playstation 3s. you better neg catchoftheday :)

      • +2

        • -3

It's not from wikipedia… Or are you stupid? Doubt u read the whole passages.

      • +1

        LOLLL

domino's pizza special… you posted that linkyou?

    • +2

45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production, stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.

Yeah right, just chuck in the word "heroin" for the added scare effect.
Stimulants - What do they do? Stimulate.

      • +2

        sex releases dopamine too

We're all either going to die or become drug addicts …

        • dont take away our sex, it was the only thing we had left!

whos going to breed the next lot of addicts if we dont?

      • Why do you have to go on about it. We know. We are not stupid. Smoking is bad too, people still do it. We are adults. Let us decide and quit being so negative.

Its a freebie. Good marketing. Take it as it is. Quit being a such a grinch.

    • +6

linkyou - why don't you stick with posting Domino Pizza bargains (some which you can get coke in even) because we all know how what great ingredients and how healthy they are… http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30801

      • +5

OMG, that deal contained soft drink! lol.

    • @linkyou

Dude u seriously need to start living LIFE!

90% (MADE UP FIGURE) of things out there are unhealthy or dangerous to our body IF taken in excessive amounts!

What's the point of living if you can't enjoy what life has to offer?

If you continue to be a paranoid about everything, you my friend will die 1 sad life lol!

    • +4

and within a few minutes everyone on ozbargain takes the mickey out of you. ;)

    • +2

1 Second: noticing someone is bothered to write up an essay

      5 Seconds: reading the BS

      10 seconds: got bored

2 minutes: grabs a coke can

    • +2

That is such a load of BS.

Why pick on the sugar content of coke when it is about the same as most other soft drink? Fruit juice is also about the same.

10 teaspoons of sugar is not going to make you throw up. Your typical icing on a cake would have more than that. Do you throw up whenever you eat cake? Oh i forgot people must be cutting acid into icing sugar these days…

Then again, you did read it on the internet, it MUST be true!
