Can't go wrong with Sonos, we have Playbar/Sub and 2 rear play 1 in our lounge room, and 2 play 5 and play 3 in other rooms in our house.
    All works seamless.

    • +1

      But the cost…

      • +1

User pays, can't afford don't buy, simple.

  • +6

+1 for Sonos One. Great speaker. Just waiting on Google Assistant integration

    • Yep, I want one I'm just waiting for the GA version (Hopefully).

      • Will be the same version, will be updated via software update

      • +1

I don't think it will be a GA version but a software update with GA. This has been announced by Sonos in time for the holiday season. I've read the delay was due to a deal between Google and Sonos (Sonos allow Google to use some patents in exchange for GA integration)

    • Doesn't it support Alexa or I got the specs wrong from their website?

      • +1

Alexa, yeah. That is working now. GA via software update ‘soon’

  • Nice beam price!!

Gonna try to get Harvey Norman to match it so my Amex $50 rebate can kick in.

Making it $429 for a Beam which is great.

    • +1

But the price needs to be without including coupons right?let me know if that works for you.

    • Same here, do you mind reporting back to see if you could do it? Much appreciated

    • +1

Heading to HN after work, I'll report back…

      • +1

        No dice guys:( no vouchers

        • thanks for getting back to us @fuzzyduck

  • Love the Sonos One … great speaker and multi room audio just works! Good price!

    • Multiroom doesn’t seem to work as a member of family plan 😭

      • sonos has a family plan?

        • Sorry, sorry. I mean using my spot in a Spotify family account only allows one speaker to play instead of multiroom (as in more than one speaker simultaneously. Sorry for the confusion.

          • +1

@Bellpop: Really? My Mrs Spotify account is part of my family plan and hers works fine for Multi room.

Are you using the Sonos app or the Spotify app?

            • @XeKToReX: Thanks for the feedback. Interesting. Only use Spotify app. Ill give Sonos app a crack. Thanks for the heads up :)

              • @Bellpop: I've created another family account in our family plan so that playing music using out of the house doesn't stop what's playing at home.

          • @Bellpop: I am a member of a Spotify family plan.

            I have 3 Sonos Ones.

I can play music from Spotify app AND Sonos on all of the speakers simultaneously.

I would suggest you update all of your devices and maybe it'll start working for you, because it is 100% working for me.

      • Please explain further?? Multiroom via the SONOS app should work regardless of what audio source you choose.

        • As above. Sorry!

  • Any deal for the Sub?

    • +2

      https://www.melbournehifi.com.au/collections/sonos
they just updated their site. So all sonos products now should be 20%

      • Sub isn't being discounted?

        • +1

code is working for the Sub now

          • @ysco: Thanks, it works now.

            • @wangsk: it doesnt work now, i couldnt complete the check out and it is sold out now.

      • No…
"Your cart does not meet the requirements for the GOSN20 discount code"

        • +1

Yea I'm getting the same, only playbar discounted when checking out with both..

    • sub is so damn expensive…

      • Worth it though.

  • where is play:5?

      • Cheers

    • Are these good upgrade to small Sony wireless speakers XB30 or so?
Use them normally to stream music from mobile via Bluetooth.

      • +1

Play 5 is in a different league. Pretty much the best consumer level wireless speaker in the market.

        • They do sound great, but wondering if 5 times cost justify to replace my existing sony wireless speakers.
I dont have multi room requirement.

          • @EnALup: That's a very hard question to answer. if you have money to spend why not, if you're on a budget not worth it.

  • +3

    Bose for hipsters

    • And so what do you recommend for those who want to be unhip like yourself?
Lets me give a completely made up example
      - a lounge room which is 8m from the tv and 10 across. Don't want large or wired speakers but something with clear audio for TV use (note, not movies) which covers the space. (thinking a soundbar/base + rear wireless speakers). Also want wireless rear speakers to mirror the front so that the oldies can hear it. Oh and if possible, want something which can mirror/sync audio in other rooms.
Do tell your recommendation? Of course, there is a budget involved.

    • +1

      Bose for hipsters

When it comes to multi-room/multi-stream, SONOS is top dog.

(Denon lost a lawsuit from SONOS because SONOS caught Denon copying SONOS' multi-room technology. And that speaks a lot.)

      Bose's implementation is a hit-and-miss (mostly a miss).

  • +2

The Play:1 for $183.20 is a great deal!

    https://www.melbournehifi.com.au/collections/sonos/products/…

Edit: was about to place the order but the code doesn't work with the Play:1 anymore. :(

Edit 2: haha code seems to be working again!

    • And not working again..

      • Code isn't working for two Play 1's for me. Will try again soon..

      • Yeah not working for me either

  • Is it available for the sub ?

    • now it is

  • Does the sub make a big difference when paired with the playbar when watching TV? I'm very tempted

    • +1

I've had the sub for a bit over a year now, in a surround setup with the playbar and 2x play 3's. For general TV watching there isn't a much of a difference, however it really shines in movies with action scenes or music, you can also dial up or down the sub based on your preferences in the app. On the high end it really shakes the room!

    • Technically you can use the soundbar without the sub but it’s obvious when listening that they were designed to be used together. I would suggest only using them together or not at all.

    • You bet it does, get 2 x play 1 too :)

    • Ok now I really want it, but $800 is still too high to swing it :(

Too many things not enough money

      • I have had one for years, you will forget the cost once you have it all set up, Brilliant.

        • +1

Definitely agree, unfortunately my partner will think otherwise…

  • Any chance MYER would price match?

    • +1

They were prepared to go to $500 only for Beam but I get to use the gift cards that are about to expire

  • -8

Still completely unreasonably overpriced. Try convince me can't get better with a decent set of speakers and cheapo Bluetooth receiver for half the price.

    • +3

No point trying to convince you if you’ve already made up your mind. Enjoy trying to get multiroom audio from a Bluetooth receiver connected to a set of speakers. But whatever, if it works for you then good for you.

      • -2

I wasn't caring about multiroom audio I just see these as an expensive bluetooth speaker for hipsters.

For multiroom could just use a $50 Echo in each room then & Spotify? They have an Aux out so can use any speakers you want.

Edit - sorry I realised I'm discussing this with people who think a "playbar" and "sub" are good for watching movies or TV…

    • +3

Your comment makes it pretty clear you've never used a wireless speaker set up if you think a bluetooth speaker is an equivalent set up.

      • -2

How do they get power to drive them if wireless?

        • Σ(゜o ゜)

        • -1

It isn't battery powered, requires power outlet.

  • Thanks! been waiting for this! got a beam

  • What do I need to be able to connect 2 x Sonos One speakers with TV?

    • +1

either a beam or play bar. you can't connect them to TV just by itself

      • Thanks. If you had to choose a beam or play bar, which would you choose?

        • +2

I will choose Beam. It got alexa built in and can control your TV. Playbar, in my opinion, a bit outdated already

          • @enghone09: playbar dont have have hdmi? still sounds good though imho.

compared to other sound bards… sonos sounds better.

    • You can also use a play 5 instead of a playbar to lower the cost. Still gives you kind of surround sound.

  • Waiting for Google integration for Sonos Play:1

  • Got a Sonos One for the kitchen, wifey uses it for timer.

    But great speaker overall

  • Sonos playbar is awesome. But I'm after a HomePod (for a different use case). I've looked around and can't find any deals!

  • I bought my first Sonos(s) because of some OzB deal with HN stacking with Amex deals back then. Love the speakers and time to buy more!

    Great first post

  • I'm getting an error "Your cart does not meet the requirements for the GOSN20 discount code"

    EDIT - silly me..its from TOMORROW.. :)

    • It should work as I have already put through an order with the discount code.

    • It should be now…
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: *Promotional code will be revealed and available only on Wednesday 24th October 2018, at the time of GQ Online Shopping Night (12.00pm AEDT 24/10/18 to 12.00pm AEDT 25/10/18)

  • Good deal, postage is a bit steep for the relatively small distance.

  • Would a Sydney retailer price match this?

  • So Sonos one is $299, doesn’t qualify for free shipping I guess? Anyways choose pickup, amazing price, thanks OP

  • Heos all the way ;)

  • For those wondering Sonos support and service is excellent.

  • website seems to be showing "sold out" for all of the popular items

  • -1

    All sold out.. Dodgy…

    • Why is it dodgy? Cos you missed out?

    • I agree. It was like they ran out of Sonos stuff completely.

  • buy or not… buy or not ….arrggh click or not… click or not … finally buy Sonos one.

  • What now? All sold out?

  • +1

I have a pair of these, and these kick ass vs single HomePod or Google Max.
    Alexa works pretty well.

Only downside works only with AirPlay2, no bluetooth.

  • +5

I reckon this was an oversight on the Vogue offer/Code by Melbourne Hi-Fi.

Pretty sure 20% is the margin on these from Sonos, and call me a sceptic but its unlikely they sold through every single Sonos item simultaneously including wall brackets…

Great deal for those on it early.

  • +5

    Whew…Money saved. Again.

    • +2

Lol same. Been contemplating getting sonos one for future gh integration but could have pulled the trigger had I seen this lol
