Nintendo 3DS: Trade in Your DSI and Get The New 3DS for Half Price, $175 (EB Games Aus Wide)

130

Hey Guys! Second post. I believe it's note worthy…

Trade in your Nintendo DSi (normal, not XL) and buy the new Nintendo 3DS for 1/2 price

  • The Nintendo 3DS will be released on March 31st 2011 at the RRP of $349.00 (half price will be around $175.00)
  • This is probably a retaliation to GAME's offer of $189 when you trade your DSi and two games
  • This is the best trade in deal i have seen to date… Probably to be succeeded by someone else in the next coming weeks…
  • DSi console must be working and complete with stylus and in most cases, any charger (first or third party)

I was at the EB games in Tuggeranong, ACT and saw this bulkhead on display. This was an awesome deal and i hoped that this was the case at my home town of Epping, Victoria. Consulting the store manager at Epping, he was happy to inform me that this offer was recently introduced and should be nation wide (given that your local EB games has proximal competition).

Go and preorder this thing, it's gonna be hot!

  • Pretty good deal. The only time I have ever seen the advantage of buying a DSi over a DS lite. Too bad I have the latter.

Good deal but almost gave you a neg vote for the comment about the 2nd post.

Sweet, glad you've confirmed it for Epping. Who was the staff member you spoke to? Want to make sure I speak to the same person when I go in :)

    • Vaughn i believe, who is the actual Store Manager for Epping Plaza. He's a top bloke!

  • Its $175 with tradein in the Sydney CBD (Both stores) as advertised today.

  • I hope the Burwood NSW store honors the $175 trade in deal because the website is kinda misleading at the moment.

    • Yeah Markis - if it is true, preorders for $250 is a great deal worthy of posting on here.

Best I have seen is the Dick Smith one a few weeks ago - I think it was $278.99 or something near that with 1 game.

EB games is a rip… ive seen preorders advertised for $250. surely a DSi is worth more than 75

    • Can you tell me where?

    • EB games will price match so your comment effectively becomes invalid

I'm sorry, i took an iPhone photo of the Bulk Head advertising this deal, but OzBargain won't let me change the URL to the photo i uploaded to it's media sharing thingy…

  • Anyone else can confirm this? I am planning to trade in mine as well.

    • Check the post above yours

  • how do i change my negative to a +

    • You can't
But you can revoke your -'ve by going to votes tab that's right next to top deals on the right hand side of the page.

      • Thanks for that, all done!

  • FYI I saw last week @Game, trade in DSi + 2games + $100 for 3DS so it could be better than this or give others more option buy cheap game on ebay then trade

    • That'll be $99 at GAME if you trade in a DSi XL and 2 games… This deal is for the DSi normal.

  • Some EB stores (including Epping, VIC) are doing 100/160/180 trade-in for DSL/DSI/DSXL which is probably even better if you price match on top. This is the best 3DS trade deal i have seen for DS Lite!

    • can some1 confirm is this national for DSL deal?

    • whoops, that should be 100/140/160

  • 1)Buy a DSi on Cashconverters online = $139
    2)Trade in for $175 towards 3DS
    3)???
    4)Profit (literally).

    • $139+$175 = $314
You can get the 3DS for $280ish more like a loss to me.

The best deal for 3ds I saw so far was from BigW, 3DS Console+a 3DS game+ starter kit for $313.20 (online price $348, with 10% cashback during the Paypal special).

I still love EB Games though, especially after I traded in a £13 game for $31 with them LOL

    • Dse's 3ds+game for $284 was the best.

  • How much will they give you for the regular DS (not dsi)?

  • I can confirm that the Brisbane CBD stores do not have this dsi trade in for 1/2 price 3DS deal. Not today anyway (17/3). However, after asking the shop assistant at albert st, the dsi "super" trade apparently is possible if you bring it up, otherwise they wont offer it to you.

Either way, it seems like its restricted to certain stores, unless you are lucky enough to get someone who believes you and rings around to confirm.

They also said (TBC to us tomorrow) that you cannot take advantage of both super deals ie. you can't trade the dsi in for a 1/2 price 3DS ($175) and then trade in your ds lite for the super $100 value to bring it down further. You can only do one or the other. You can still trade your additional console in, but it will only reduce the price by the regular trade in value ($50 for the lite).
