[VIC] 50% off Solar Magic Rechargeable 2000mAh 4x AA - $5.50 @ Bunnings Mentone

60

I've purchased these before and they seem to be ok.

Found these on the clearance rack in the centre isle at Bunnings Mentone 3 boxes left when I was there. (After I bought 6 packets)

Took them to the register told the customer service rep they were on the clearance rack, who asked her manager, who told her to sell them 1/2 price.

Receipt - https://ibb.co/fDLq50

Not sure if elsewhere.

  • Bunnings do a good 2 pack of 18650 batts in the range.

    • They do? Never seen anything more than a D cell in their stores.

      • Check the garden light section. All kinds of Li ion batts in there under the solar magic brand. $10 for two 2200mah 18650 cells is pretty good I think.

        Found them correction $10.40

        • I think there were some of those in a box on the clearance trolley in Mentone as well.

        • Oh. No thanks. I like to stick my batteries in my backpack or a drawer for a few months and still be able to use them.

  • What's with all these rechargeable battery deals all of a sudden?

Haha when I posted mine there were none, now there is like 5!

Price in title please. Also mention rechargeable

Not gonna have much luck here with those. We love our Eneloops and Laddas.

    • Big fan of the Eneloops, have dozens, but even at the best price, I'm finding it hard to justify sticking them in a kids toy or similar, non-critical device.

Now that they're not as readily affordable, I find I treasure (hoard) them..

  • laddas all the way…

  • whats the difference between a "solar" rechargeable battery and a standard supermarket one?

The company that makes these batteries, makes batteries intended for solar garden lights.

As NiMh batteries go, these aren't low-self-discharge NiMh batteries, so if you leave them sitting in a drawer for a couple of months, they'll be flat when you want to use them. That's okay for use in solar garden lights, which get charged every day, but not good for general-purpose use. For general-purpose use, it's better to get inexpensive low-self-discharge NiMh batteries, like the Ikea LADDA batteries, or the Aldi ones ($5.99 for four batteries, only slightly more expensive than the ones in this deal, but far more useful).

If you haven't bought batteries from Ikea or Aldi before, there are a couple of minor traps:
      - Ikea sell two different ranges of NiMh batteries - light brown low-capacity, and white high-capacity. Ikea also sell Alkaline batteries. The white LADDA batteries are the ones you want.
      - Aldi sell both rechargeable and non-rechargeable (alkaline) batteries under the same brand. So if you don't check, you could end up with non-rechargeable batteries.
